Most of these nursing/rehab facilities are subpar and I know as I went through it with both my mother in law and my father. What I can tell you is as a relative you MUST take an active roll in this process and change of life path. Some employees care...some don't. It's in all kinds of businesses. San Remo's PT, OT and Speech therapy was bar none! My husband came out of the hospital not ambulatory and had no balance. He then had trouble swallowing as well as he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Maria and Melissa worked every single weekday with him and he is now walking without the aid of a walker. We will continue to use it as a helpful aid. Becca gave me a recommendation for an out patient program (Big and Loud) that I've now got him enrolled in. Jana (speech therapist) recommended a swallow study that has helped immensely. Rachel works on balance and is really knowledgeable and patient. Again...we're all busy and have a life to lead but when a loved one needs special attention and needs more help than we can give at home, it's imperative that we are involved and invested as much as possible with these facilities.

I was there to witness the lack of care at a meal time. Tray was brought in with nothing to drink, no help was provided for the meal . A blind person being told that the person delivering the meal didn't do that cause she was just "a student nurse." I requested to speak to the DON, ED and or Social Worker to address my and residents concerns. Was told everyone was in a meeting and it would be hours until they were finished. Thankfully resident was able to be transferred to a more caring and fully staffed facility. Be warned of this when choosing a facility whether long term or short rehab stay

I appreciated her diligence and the effort she put into my case. Old review : I had total knee replacement surgery. This company contacted me initially and we set up times. The RN came and she was Amazing! The PT came and he was great. What I have major issues with is I was supposed to be getting 3 sessions a week for two weeks minimum.. On my about to be third session , the PT said oh we don't have pre authorization. I wondered about this so I called. The company would not call me back. I called twice. I waited 7 hours and no follow up call. I called a third time around 3 in the afternoon . I finally got someone and they said, " Oh we don't have pre authorization." I said , "Then how did you guys send people to my house in the first place?" They still have not answered that question. I still should be having PT sessions , it was knee surgery, the Dr. office did send that over (I checked) , and still no services and no calls from this company when I should be having therapy. Knee surgery is a difficult surgery mentally and emotionally, and to have to deal with this is unacceptable. I rated the company a 1 only because I really liked the PT and OT. Their management , scheduling , return calls needs to be improved.

I highly recommend Accord to anyone looking the VERY BEST in Palliative and Hospice care for their loved one. We brought her home that weekend and the loving and caring staff not only got her comfortable but more importantly, she had a series of falls the last few months before this hospital visit, so she had not walked for almost 8 months. She was started on some muscle strengthening exercises, given some tender love and care, and not only did she make it through the weekend, but she walked about a month later for the first time in a long time, and lived almost 7 months after receiving such initial devastating news. We collectively know that it was Accord Palliative and Hospice Care that went above and beyond for our family. Thank you guys so much for caring for us in our time of need. -Davis Family

Stealing cell phones, chargers, expensive perfume, chair cushions, personal blankets, clothing, etc. No accountability from anyone. Caregivers and staff don't wear name tags, but a name is required in order to make a complaint. A conundrum, isn't it? The fact that they employ an abuse coordinator tells you they have widespread abuse which needs coordinating. One doesn't call a dogcatcher if there are no dogs. Hygiene is a word they can't spell. The food is inedible and sub-par. It breaks my heart that the elderly are treated in this manner. This is not a medicaid facility and the private pay cost to live here is exhorbitant. Patients are wandering the halls in their underwear dragging catheter poles. Visitors wearing hijabs are wandering the hallways asking for face masks. Staff DOES NOT respond to call buttons, but have time to be constantly on their cell phones accessing social media. This place is a thing of nightmares. I do not have one good thing to say about this place. Any good reviews you read likely come from a staff member, an employee of the facility or the owner.

The sunday nurse was very helpful. The rest, not so much. At night noone answered Dad's call button. My largest concern is the diet. We have instructed them repeatedly on Dad's dietary restrictions, and still someone has to be there for every meal. They have an issue with the room assignments so that every meal comes to him with someone else's name on it. No idea how they think they can keep up with dietary needs of everyone. We've brought up our own fresh vegetables and fruit so that he has something healthy to eat each meal which has helped alot. His blood sugar is now normal. The last two nights theyve sent Dad to the hospital only to have the hospital return him the same night. Actually, this is the 7th day he's been there and they've sent him to the hospital 3 times. He is definitely in worse shape than when we checked him in. I read other comments on the 'speech therapy'. We had that and dementia screening, too. Something every day. He just wants to use a walker so he can go home. I'll post back. OK, so Dad passed today. He was old and his organs failed him. But. The remington folks ignored Dads DNR. Said it wasnt adequate. And my mom had to watch the Remington 'nurse' beat on Dads chest for 4 minutes until she got a heartbeat so that the ambulance drivers could take him to the hospital where he officially died. Sigh. Long story short. If youre healthy, this place can work for you. If you need nursing care, this nursing home lacks. Severely lacks.
