My first visit with him after firing my last PCP was very revealing. He immediately told me, after seeing a picture of me when I was 50 yrs old, that the answer to the growing fat around my gut was to go back to the same kind of diet I had always been on to stay so lean and in good shape for my entire life up until my first hip replacement at 53 yrs oldl. Zero suger and very low carbs while working out carefully everyday. I have done that and now only eat two meals/day of scrambled eggs with meat and an avocado along with a piece of fruit. And staying hydrated! I do my PT exercises and ride my stationary bike as well as I get out of my apt and walk in the sunlight. So, now I am beginning to lose that fat and now have the hope of getting much better with his astute medical advice. I have full confidence that with his continued help I will solve most of medical problems and once again get back in shape to be able to get out to serve in my community like I had always done before. Tess Barnes, NP, is absolutely amazing! I was skeptical about my initial appointment, but she was thorough, compassionate, and asked questions about things I never thought about mentioning. I truly loved the fact that my visit was not rushed and that she actually took her time with me. Referrals, labs, and everything in between were covered during my visit and I did leave rather impressed. The clinic is located in an unexpected area, but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised. A major concern was that the office did not have my complete and correct medical records and imaging reports. I had repeatedly provided the appropriate documentation, including imaging and the neurosurgeon's report. Because the information available to the doctor was incomplete, I did not feel that my situation could be properly evaluated. I also did not receive a meaningful explanation of what could be causing the adrenal thickening, why it was present, whether it could relate to my symptoms, or what the next steps should be. I felt as though my concerns were simply brushed aside rather than investigated. I understand that normal laboratory results can be reassuring, but normal labs do not explain severe pain, and I expected a specialist to review the complete records and discuss the findings with me. After months of significant symptoms and trying to obtain appropriate medical care, this experience was extremely frustrating and discouraging. Patients deserve to be heard, examined when appropriate, and given an explanation and a plan--even when the answer isn't immediately obvious. I am now seeking a second opinion.

An example of his patient care is what just happened to me on my vacation to New England, when he rescued me after a Dexcom G7 BGM failed. His quick assistance and willingness to help were amazing. Here's what happened. I had packed one additional G7 for the trip. Because my current G7 got caught on clothing and was ripped off my arm, I inserted my new "spare" G7. That G7 BGM, upon insertion, had an immediate hardware failure- displaying a failed sensor; replace immediately. I had no other G7's with me. This all happened while: I was on vacation 2,800 miles away. There was a 3-hour time zone difference between Arizona and my vacation location on the East Coast. This happened at the worst of times, on a SUNDAY at 6:00 am Arizona time. Panic definitely set in. I started calling everyone. Most responses were "We are closed; call back during regular business hours, Monday through Friday."
