We hired Brendon to paint our house this summer. The house needed walls, trim, & cabinets to all be refinished. When Brendon came, he was very personable and kind during the quoting process. We were expecting to get a company that managed the project thoroughly so we did not have to look over their shoulder constantly. That's what we thought Brendon was going to do. We couldn't have been more wrong. Upon starting the project, the crew he sent, Two Brothers Painting, was extremely unprofesional. To start, they did not fully cover the hardwood floors in the house(See pictures). Once we pointed this out, Brendon told us it was taken care of and the hardwoods were cleaned and covered. We went back to the house and were still able to find the paint on the floors with plastic just laid on top of it. They hadn't been cleaned, only covered. We also noticed issues with the wall paint, manly runs, painted over screws, painted over tape adhesive & light areas in the paint(see pictures). This was the first time we asked Brendon to come out to the house to go over the project with us. He declined. The runs and screws were fixed, he told us we would need a 3rd wall coat to fix the light areas and quoted us $4000. We declined. On to the trim, we had purchased 10 gallons of trim paint from Benjamin Moore. The first 5 gallons were put on to the trim over the course of 1.5 days. Once they start on to the second 5 gallon bucket, they realized the trim paint in the first bucket was the wrong color. The paint crew told me they would have to redo all of the trim work and needed additional paint to get it done. I went to Benjamin Moore and told them we had the wrong color, they proceed to test both 5 gallon buckets of trim paint and are able to ensure a color match. They're conclusion was that the paint was not mixed before the painters started painting the trim(see pictures). At no point through this has Brendon reached out to me to discuss additional payment for the trim. In fact, the only time he reached out regarding additional payment was for the 3rd coat of wall paint, which we declined. At this point, our frustration is mainly with Brendon, because we feel the project is not being properly managed by him or his team. We have asked him to the property 3 times so far and he has declined or ignored the requests. On to the Cabinets, as you can probably guess by now, they are a mess. They end up having to repaint the cabinets 3 times. The first attempt, they sprayed them then laid them down before they were cured and left marks in all of the doors. They said they would fix it. The second time, they left the cabinet doors on the frames, tried to sand and prime them, then respray them. This only process left sand marks in all of the cabinet doors. The third time, they almost got it right, but one door is still has a large mark on it. They have to respray that one, so they take it off and leave the house with it, when it comes back, it still isn't right. This was a brand new cabinet door and the seam of the door is completely messed up. At this point I reached out to Brendon to let him know the door still isn't right(see pictures). I have tried to send pictures and get intouch with him about it. His response is to tell me the job is complete and that "any further contact from you will be considered harassment"(see pictures) When it came time to get the bill, Brendon had upped our price by $5000 and at no point did he communicate that additional charge or approve that additional charge through us. It was a massive headache dealing with him and his crew. I would stay far away from Brendon and The House Painters - Nashville. read more

Actually the lack of response from Brandon shows he has no personal involvement with the job. He must hire people to do the painting job without ever taking responsibility for their work. Not only did they break every seal on all 22 windows but the front door was painted without being prepped. I paid the 250 for the work and was promised it would be redone but Brandon NEVER CAME TO THE PROPERTY TO ADDRESS THE DOOR NOR DID HE REFUND THE 250. This is a guy who just collects the money. read more

This review is long overdue! Brendon (the owner) came out to our house last year for an initial color consultation and he picked right up on our personalities and also gave us great feedback on colors for every room in our house. We had some other items come up with delayed the execution but remembered how passionate and knowledgeable Brendon was about his craft. 12 months later we asked if he wouldn't mind coming back out to Hermitage for a color consultation and quote- we are so glad that he did. Brendon's team, better yet team of 1 came in and knocked the job out in a day and a half. Michael (the painter) was meticulous and so incredibly speedy. It was not a rushed job, so please don't mistake my comments. The man is just FAST! He used no tap and there are no errors. He was a painting Ninja, my husband works from home and was uninterrupted, Michael was so darn quite. Some of the colors did not turn out the way we expected, only because we did not do our instructed homework. Brendon told us upfront to get samples and we didn't - so that is totally on us. However we did have his painter Michael come back out and repaint a couple of rooms. All in all we are very pleased with our dining room, office, kitchen, living room, bedroom, ceilings and hallways. We will definitely rehire The House Painters for upstairs room later this year. They will not disappoint from start to finish - true professionals! read more

That day, I got the estimate on the spot, and they had me on their schedule within a week. A job another company had told me would take two weeks was done in three days and done perfectly. We bought a house with blah-white walls throughout, and they transformed it into a thing of beauty. The crew was courteous, professional, fast, efficient, responsive, and an absolute pleasure to work with. What more could you ask for? We moved to town from Cincinnati and were nervous to call someone we didn't know, but based on their site, pictures of work, and other reviews, we decided to go with The House Painters. Glad we did. They matched the colors we wanted, got the paint and worked around our moving schedule, as we were trying to get the rooms painted after we closed and before we moved in. DISCLAIMER - Right up front, throwing this out there. The House Painters have never painted anything for me. So the fact that I am leaving them a 5 star review should speak wonders about the service I received when dealing with them. My wife and I bought a picturesque little 1948 cottage that never made it out of the cosmetically challenged 70's. Needless to say, there was a plethora of things to update, not the least of which was the dull and chipping paint. We got quote after quote after quote, and during this flurry of bids and estimates, two things quickly became obvious: 1) What we want is out of our budget 2) When we get the budget to do what we want, we're going to hire The House Painters to make it happen. The House Painters were by far the most helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating painting company I worked with through the entire process. They gave me honest advice, and never tried to upsell or get me to book extra work. In fact, they talked me out of extra painting I was considering, telling me it would be in my best interest to wait and live in the house with wood trim for a while before making the huge financial and aesthetic commitment of painted trim. Their quoted prices were right in line with the market. After a lot of budgeting and consideration, we decided to move the direction of bare minimum painting (read: paint the worst-looking walls ourselves), until we can afford to have the house done fully and correctly by The House Painters. The House Painters came back today to fix some of the areas that needed touched up in my home. Brendon even came out to help supervise the work to make sure that it was being completed to company standards. I am pleased that they addressed the situation and were willing to come back out in the name of customer service. The quality of the work definitely matched the competitive price they offered. The painting was done efficiently and quickly which is a major pro in this area as some companies do not value your time as well as the work you need done. Painter put a hole in my roof that caused my ceiling to collapse in the living room. Work was subcontracted apparently, so when you hire this company you're actually just hiring someone else (I didn't know this ahead of time. I found out after dealing wit fighting their insurance company for a few months). On top of that they left garbage in my yard every day, and the paint is already starting to flake off in places (less than 6 months later). Shouldn't have had to, but probably should have taken off of work to watch them work to ensure they sanded everything properly. Lesson learned. Buyer beware. read more

We had some work done and it wasn't until they left that I noticed drops of paint on the counter, the window sill, curtains, and brush strokes under the a handrail on our staircase. Basically they didn't take the handrail off the wall so they tried to paint underneath it, which just left haphazard brush strokes. read more

Disappointed that when I called the House Painters for a second time to have them come do another room - their prices had gone up and they didn't seem too interested in doing the job. I guess they weren't worried about the bunches of people I've sent their way with good reviews. Will have to find some new painters who have more competitive rates again! We recently had the House Painters to our home to paint a few rooms and do some touch up painting to get our home ready for the holidays. First of all, our phone call was returned promptly and Brendon was very flexible to set up a free estimate walk through. We assessed what work needed to be done and he showed us a few additional things that would really be effective for the overall look of the house. So we took his expert advise and we are sure glad we did. Secondly, the price was great. I have had paint work done by friends of mine in New Jersey, you know receiving the friend discount, so I wasn't sure what the price would be using a new company. Well, it wasn't far off that friendly discount price we received in the past. Lastly, they worked around our already furnished home with 3 dogs and let me say they were in and out in a very timely manner leaving everything as tidy or better than it was before. They were not the cheapest bid I got, and if cheap is your primary criterion, then they're probably not for you. I needed a complete repaint of a condo I bought, and I needed it fast, before my furniture arrived. The owner came out and went over every detail when giving me the bid and helped with color selection as well. I chose them over some lower priced bids because he made me a believer. And, they executed perfectly. The quality of their work far exceeded my expectations, and they had the whole condo done including walls, ceilings and all trim and baseboards in little over 2 days. No one but me can tell it's not the original paint job. read more

Lots and Lots of great reviews, that was a big factor in hiring this company. They are pretty busy to, so we thought maybe they must be good. Now we know it must of been lots of new clients on their books, because I do not think anyone who actually used them would hire back for a 2nd x. They are fairly new in Nashville but we thought "new blood" is what Nashville Needs! and we have only ever had bad experience with service companies before. My wife - lord knows my wife warned me and warned me hard. She said " why does such a new company have so many great over the top reviews? " , she was not buying it! However, I defended this company, as if I worked for them, I defended this company as if I was part of them. I said " they are new! and fresh! maybe they are just a great company! surely not all the great reviews are fake!" - I told my wife. To which she replied, never mind maybe your right just hire them and let get this job done. We were so very excited. did not take long for them to start our job , just a few weeks. The start of the job was ok, Brendon I believe who is the Owner set up the job then left. 1st day was no issue. 2nd day - hey what do you know a typical no show and no answer of phone. So we thought ok well maybe they just had some kind of emergency. 3rd day guess what - thats right! another no show!. At this point I'm pissed but also extremely embarrassed, since my wife's gut feeling was correct from the start. 4rd day - guess what people... yes another no call no show. So here we are - job is not completed and we have a big mess on our hands. do your self a favor pre-screen a little more and if it seems to good to be true LIKE 50 + REVIEWS! IN JUST A FEW YEARS OF BUSINESS - THEN IT REALLY IS. Or just pick up a brush and check out some youtube videos and try to learn to paint your self. Like my wife and I are now forced to do. I don't even know where to start. I paid a few THOUSAND dollars thinking I was going to get an amazing paint job but I guess that was too much to ask from a professional painter. They are about to come out for the THIRD time to "fix" all the mistakes they made the first time. Workers were completely disrespectful even going as far as leaving their drinks in my fridge after they were supposedly done and leaving lights on in rooms they weren't supposed to be in. As for the paint job itself, I have paint on my hardwoods, paint on almost every doorframe in the house and that's just what's getting fixed the third time. On one doorframe during the second "fix" visit, they covered up the gray paint they got on my doorframe with spots of white paint...my doorframes at off-white. Even when they are fixing errors they are messing up. Originally, they left huge spots where the old paint color was coming through, painted a wall the wrong color and instead of taking off light switch covers, either painted over them or left a nice line around the edges of the old paint. My bar was painted the wrong color and when they came back to paint it the right color they were obviously rushing through as the wrong color was showing through all the edges. There was also paint on the edge of my tile backsplash. If I wanted gray paint on off-white frames and lack of clean lines, I could have painted it myself and saved the costs. I have yet to get an offer from them to refund some of my money and every day I find a new issue. I will never hire them ever again and will make sure my friends are taken advantage of as well! We hired The House Painters to paint our office. It was to be done in 2 days, over a weekend so as not to disrupt work. After 5 days, and charging us an additional $1,000 over the contract amount, we told them not to come back. The job was still not complete and very poorly done. There are drips in many walls, paint spots on doors that were not even to be painted, doors that were to be painted with only cut in complete, poor coverage on several walls and most of the trim work, paint on floors and ceilings and we spent every morning cleaning behind them before we could even begin to work. They even painted over a piece of tape on the wall instead of removing it. I would never hire them again nor would I recommend them to anyone. Their contact is deceptive - the estimate IS the contract so they can change prices after you've hired them simply because they did not do the job they were supposed to and had to come back several times, charging more each time. read more

First of all they are over-priced for the quality of service received. Initially promised job would take 10 days to paint entire interior of house. We did add cabinetry to the job which we were told would only take a an extra day or so. Not hardly! Painters removed a mirror without permission and took it with them. Paint job is subpar to say the least. Some of their equipment has been left at our house and they won't come pick it up either. We have called and texted them to come get their stuff and to bring my mirror back. Has been over 2 weeks now since they finished the job. Steer clear of these people!!! Brendon claims he does a final walk through...not in this case. I only met him when he came for the initial estimate! There is a lot of miscommunication that goes on between the painters and Brendon the boss. We will have to do a lot of touch-ups ourselves because the lack of skill. I had a relatively challenging exterior job for The House Painters as it is almost 50 feet from our driveway to the top of our roof -- one highly rated painter just declined. Brendon was not daunted at all and quoted me a very fair price. Josh came out and pressure washed the whole job and then sprayed 2 coats of stain because the wood siding was thirsty as I had neglected to stain it for one, maybe two years too long. But when he finished, it looked like a new house. I am a remodeling contractor, and I can tell you from 30 years experience dealing with painters that these guys know what they are doing and they are very professional. Poor patching of holes prior to paint job. Hired them to match a bid from competitor and they attempted to upcharge $200 for extra coat of paint required to finish job in one room. I settled on $100 just to get them out of our life. Bid they were supposed to be matching was clearly written for enough coats to do the job. What was supposed to be a weekend job, turned into a 5 day job, and nearly $1,000 later... the job was left unfinished because they just kept charging so much, each day they were there. I understand contracts. But this is the most deceptive contract I've ever laid eyes on. It's written totally one sided. Once they get your signature, they jack up the prices per day, for coats, additional paint, man hours. I understand that an estimate, is not an EXACT price, but to be off by well over a thousand dollars is unacceptable and far from professional. If this is something you've been doin for 10+ years, I expected better. We had walls painted the wrong color, paint drips everywhere, paint on the carpets, ceiling, and windows. I can't even begin to explain how big of a disappointment this project was. Aside from that, our concerns were met with one excuse after the other.
