Got order to go. Had the vodka penne with pork belly lardons. Food was delicious- creamy, rich, flavorful! Downside was getting it to go resulted in $8 fee which essentially cancelled out the $10 credit we had. Next time will be eating there since ambiance was also nice!

I have no idea why this place is rated so low, but rest assured this is an awesome place to eat. We had a fantastic meal: perfectly cooked scallops and grits, legit crab cake, soulful fried chicken meal and an outstanding risotto with salmon. Only critique is the need for better mocktails as those left a bit to be desired. Our server was attentive and kind and the ambiance was nice as well. I will be dreaming about this place and the risotto for the foreseeable future.

Came in around 8:51 last night. Had a reservation for 9:15. Was really looking forward to a "girl dinner" there. When I walked in, the host walked into the back. Another person came up asked if I had been helped. Didn't return before I left. Barely anybody was in there anyways. Like two tables at most. I guess God didn't think we aligned for me to take my business there. It would have been my first time, but I won't be returning. Ambiance was nothing memorable. It just looks nice enough. Fake fancy. Wannabe boujee. But mediocre at best like most places in this area. Just money hungry and classist in reality. Anyways, if you want to eat at a good place downtown--I only suggest Railroad Thai. Great service. Always busy because they're really good. If you catch them on a slow night, you're blessed. This place was empty on purpose yesterday night. No one wanted to be there. And now, me neither. Twins

Our waitress was truly considerate and kind. She helped us make a good decision on the items we ordered especially with the appetizer...I would definitely suggest the crab cake! The restaurant was clean, the food and ice tea were good and I would go back whenever I'm in the area.

Service good not many options to choose from I went in to try the short rib but they were out on a Saturday went with the salmon salad Chef was nice enough to accommodate my request to sauté the spinach so I could manage with my braces lol the flavor on the salmon was good but the salad was bland the fried chicken salad was bland and the shrimp was good but the salad was bland and some of the greens were wilted

Unfortunately for me, I did not enjoy the food here. I was with a group and we all received the fried chicken, beans and mashed potato. I have no idea what they breaded it with - it was inedible. It was not fried chicken. So disappointing. I did order a glass of wine from them so that was fine -well, you open a bottle so that is easy to do. We also had breakfast in their restaurant in the morning which was fine - but the dinner really made me feel disappointed.

The food at The House is always delicious! I love the hotel, and The House is a delightful dining experience, not your typical hotel restaurant. The food is high quality, as is the service. I had the encrusted salmon, with Lima beans, and asparagus. I do not like Lima beans, but these are very good. My server was Fabiola, and she was very professional and attentive .

My first visit at The House was pleasant. I Washoe immediately seated, and attended to. The service was pleasant and fun. The food was delicious. I ordered The House burger and fries which was delicious. The meat was so tasty on that burger . I also tried the Cherry Pie drink which was delicious. The ambience was very nice in which my friend and I will be returning sooner than later.

Located in the Renaissance hotel this place was nice. Our server was super friendly and had suggestions on the menu. Service was prompt and efficient. The items we tried were amazingly delicious.

We had a reservation for 7:30 pm. We weren't seated until 8:19. It's currently 9:11 pm, and we still haven't received our food. The drinks are top notch though. They were out of all appetizers, except for the crab cake, so we didn't get one. I'll be back to let you know how the food is. ** my return ** OK so we ordered the tomahawk pork chop and the filet mignon. The filet mignon was awesome. They hit that out of the park. However, the tomahawk pork chop, don't waste your money. That pork chop was so greasy that it could cure chapped lips in the wintertime across Alabama. I sent it back and the manager then tried to explain to me that it is the center cut and that is why it is so fatty. I told him that I understand it is a center cut. I have been frying pork chops for a long long time and not once have they ever been that greasy. I told him that you don't fry pork chops and stick them directly on a plate. You have to let them drain on paper towels, or a rack. Macaroni and cheese tasted like the mac & cheese that you get from Sam's Club or Costco and the family friendly packs. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and had been sprinkled with a little bit of imitation crab meat. Maybe we got them on an off night, but this was not it.

The service was amazing. The food was delicious and it has been every time that we go. The Chocolate cake is worth the trip alone. The Duck Egg Rolls are so rich with flavor!

You walk in to a cafeteria style line serving a variety of soul food options. On the Saturday that we went, they were serving items such as fried tilapia, baked chicken, fried chicken, stuff chicken, and pulled pork. The icing on the cake to our wonderful meal though was the blackberry and apple cobbler (so good we had to get a second to go). The meals were $15 each and the dessert was $3.50 - great value. Some didn't know if it is pet friendly on the property of the Legacy Museum. One museum guy said the dog couldn't be on the terrace but okay in the grass by the curb. We sat down in the sun with our dog and tried to enjoy some southern comfort soul food. Then upon leaving an aggressive man from the museum told me I had to leave the property. I let him know that online it states "pet friendly". He was not very nice about even when I told him I was leaving. I guess he wanted to make a statement to the public. If this was driven by a prior history of dogs, I get it. BUT put up signs and even call it out why dogs are not welcome. I did what I could in advance to make sure I wasn't breaking rules and choosing a place to eat with my dog on family vacation traveling the South. I will not be back to Montgomery and now how a very negative view of this city. Unfortunately I was trying to teach my kids about social justice and our past history of racism and segregation. I feel it's reversed here.

We also had stuffing, greens, yams, black eyed peas, and mac & cheese. Note that the cornbread muffin that came with one of the meals was dry, and the greens were on the salty side. For everything, it was priced at $29.99, which was quite reasonable considering the portion size. The inside of the restaurant was cozy with a family-friendly diner feel. The music playing was very entertaining. Each table had a great variety of condiments available, including hot sauces, ketchup, mustard, etc. Overall, J.W. Beverette's Soul Food was a solid choice for experiencing comforting, delicious soul food. The place is not the cleanest-- floors needed vacuuming, chairs were held together with duck tape.. but I pressed on hoping the food would redeem the space. Service was friendly. However, it was awkward listening to the waiter/waitresses/hostess/ kitchen staff have a conversation with each other across the entire restaurant. This was especially true after a patron sent something back and the kitchen came out loudly exclaiming that they wanted to see the food that "wasn't good enough." I had the fried chicken, greens, okra, and mashed potatoes. The chicken was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and the tastiest fried skin/breading. That's where the goodness stops. The turnip greens were flavorless and complete mush, as though they had been sitting on the heat all day. Mashed potatoes were clearly from a box based on the consistency, color and flavor. Gravy had no flavor as well. There wasn't enough salt on the table to make it all better. The okra came out about 15min after we got our plates. It was fresh, but again, flavorless. My husband had the fried pork chop. It was just okay -- cooked well, zero flavor. Butter beans were good flavor wise, but definitely seemed to have been sitting for a while. It was odd to us that the only things you could get to drink were water, tea, lemonade, milk, and coffee. The second star is only for the chicken. I doubt we'll go back because the above experience for $50 is not worth it.

Drinks of water, orange juice and sweet tea were in the dining room to the left of the hall. Now the dining room is large enough area to accommodate a party of 40 (there were 28 of us). I don't care for southern cuisine, unless it's seafood. But I did like both fried and baked chickens, spinach and cabbages; had multiple helping of them. I wished rice was included. The abundance of spaces between the tables helped in reducing the noise level. I sat at one of the smaller tables so that helped a lot. The overall decor evokes a pre-1980s feel, and apparently so is the upkeep of the building. The service was good enough that I would have given it at least four stars.
