Update the review -At list they're honest enough to refund me the money they over charged. I wish they didn't make me feel so bad and make me feel like I did something wrong. I feel like their behavior is dishonest misleading and indicating a lack of integrity. The first time I join for one month trial they had a new year promotion so I join Jan 06 and immediately they charge me extra , after calling the front desk few times , they said the promotion was over yesterday (they forgot to mention it when I signed in ) , I talked with Luz (one of the managers )and she agreed to return the extra fees and I asked to cancel the membership at the spot . I didn't see the refund and after calling again , they said it's a credit for next month , I said again , I don't want to be here another month , please cancel my membership, they said yes and now they charge me again . I needed to send them email just to confirm the call and they still charge me again I spend so many hour talking with them about the issue and then like nothing happens. I was there 3 times and for charge over $300 already . Such a rip off If u decide to join them , take a lawyer with u because they will nail you with secret charges all over the place . Super fun place! On our second visit, I actually took a walk around, checked out and used more amenities. They have a very luxurious locker room with a top tier interior, steam room, sauna and showers. A bummer is that there are no locks on the lockers so you have to bring your own. Pulled up to The Hub Sports Club in Alameda and honestly... this place is solid. Came through with my guy Nate to check it out, get some runs in, and shoot a little content. Right away you can tell this place is well run. The energy is welcoming, the staff actually cares, and the community vibe is real -- competitive but still friendly. Pickleball-wise, it's stacked. 8 indoor courts that are clean, permanent, and play great, plus 7 outdoor courts if you want fresh air. Runs are organized, people know how to play, and they're always hosting tournaments and competitive events, which I really appreciate as someone who plays a lot. Outside of pickleball, the gym setup is legit. Full cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group classes like yoga, barre, and more. Locker rooms are clean, with showers, sauna, and steam room -- clutch after long sessions. Pro shop is fully stocked and the staff is always down to help with gear or questions without being pushy. Small thing but funny -- they even added a ping pong table, which kinda says everything about the vibe here. Functional, fun, and community-first. The Hub, previously Bladium, is pretty alright. I never have to wait to use certain machines, the gym is ALWAYS clean and so put together (this I appreciate SO much), the downstairs work out area is such a vibe and so different from when Bladium was in operation and you get to watch some cool Pickleball action as you work out. They also have a pro shop with drinks, gear and snacks, and a seating area. I appreciate the water bottle stations and sanitizing stations throughout the area! The locker rooms, much like the gym, is also always clean. So yay for cleanliness! Some cons are the price: - it is QUITE expensive, especially if you also want to lay the added cost of a pickleball membership on top of your gym membership. I do miss the Bladium membership price I had. - the front desk staff is almost never at the front desk when I check in and aren't the most helpful. However, shout out to Jhunel A. who has always answered my questions or gotten back to me with answers!!! He's on top of it always. - it is HELLA hot upstairs! The fans can only do so much. We stayed at the Hyatt Resort And Spa because it's close .4 mile walk to the courts. The resort included one day of comp'd PB at The Hub:) We were very impressed with the facilities. The owners were there and very welcoming. They made sure everyone understood the paddle up system on one of the busy days. We actually played all of the days we were in Lahaina. Our son and his fiancé even joined us. All levels were made to feel welcome. They have beverages for sale just in case you forgot. There is a clean bathroom for use. This is an amazing facility with lots of indoor courts and outdoor. Perfect place to play pickleball with friends and new people. Everyone is really friendly. The staff was very nice to answer any questions about the facilities too. It did get a little warm inside with the big door open to the outside. We went for a birthday party and it was so fun! I really like this gym, and the pickleball courts are honestly the best part, great setup and way better than when it was Baldium. The only real issue is three specific muscle-head guys who get loud with the grunting, slam heavy weights, and sometimes go shirtless. It gets distracting, especially when I'm on conference calls between workouts, and it's probably why some machines keep breaking. Separately, there are a few influencers with tripods, but they mind their own business. It would be great if someone could enforce the noise and weight-dropping rules with those three. Wow! This place has it all, amazing indoor pickle ball courts, full pro shop and an amazing gym. I could spend everyday here! The courts are perfect, high ceilings, great lighting and dark backgrounds. Whoever designed this place must be a player. They even have designated courts for the level of play. 2nd time being here. The first time my experience was decent. The price to play pickle ball for a day was $20 about a month ago and that was it. Good deal right? It was raining today and my friends and I decided to go here once again. We were shocked to hear that they changed the price to $30 for a day pass and $30 per hour for a court!! We were surprised because a month ago we only paid $20 for drop in. We asked if this was a new price, but apparently this has been the price for a while. So there is a lot of miscommunication. I asked the guy working the front desk if the outside courts were available and he just shook his head...I asked how come, is it closed? He nodded his head. Not a single word given! Like come on at least have decent customer service to answer my questions with words! The place itself is good, they have a gym and pickle ball courts. They only have one drop in courts and the rest are reserved. It was a rainy weekend in the Bay Area and I decided to drive out to Alameda to check out the place! I did the $25 day pass drop in. It was worth it! I played some pickleball with good competition at different levels. I almost stayed there all day haha. Lots of amenities! The staff were friendly and were happy to answer questions! I wanted to find a new gym and came across this location. For a while I thought it was only for soccer, pickleball, and other sports, came to find out they had an actual gym. Winning! Went in, Azariah (hope I didn't butcher his name) assisted me. Had all the answers to my questions off top. Had a tour of the place and immediately fell in love. Lol! I use to go to Crunch but I was tired of having to compromise with my workouts, I'm very structured. And that place is just too small and everyone seems to be a content creator or always on their phones, holding up machines, it's annoying! I signed up right away, was a breeze, and had the best workout which I haven't had in a while. I was able to use all the machines I needed for my complete workout, no waiting, they got a nice size turf, clean bathrooms, and I don't have to be so tense scared to bump into someone doing my reps because the place is huge and have plenty of space inbetween machines. And steam room! It's a bit pricey but it's so worth it! read more

Great place for working out & pickleball! They have a full gym & pickleball courts, indoors and outdoors! Since we were first timers we started with the pickle ball introduction and John our instructor was very helpful and patient. We will definitely be back! We had the best time! Probably the best place to pickleball in the U.S. Beautiful, clean, new-looking facility with plenty of courts (about 8 I think). Weekday mornings are best if you don't want crowds. As the time nears 3pm it gets crowded, and obviously weekends are crowded. Friendly people who are not territorial about courts and share well. Helpful front desk staff. Great little store on site with gear and snacks, a very impressive 2-story gym and a room for spin class as well. Best of all you can play all winter because it is an indoor facility. It's quite a haul for me to drive to from the outer East Bay, but it's so worth it. I appreciate that you don't have to be a member, you can pay $25 for a day pay to access everything the club has to offer, which I think is a great deal. Love this place! read more

My group went there for pickleball, Not a good experience with the services. My group made reservations for two courts a week ahead, and management decided to change the reservations without notice. My group were not happy of their decisions and we went there on a non-rainy day, a very bad experience especially for my friends first time at the HUB for PIckleball. Highly not recommended during day play, the upper windows sun rays will shine on your eyes. Terrible play for indoor facility on sunny days, they should paint, shade, or cover those side ceiling windows. If the sun shine in your eyes, might as well play free outdoors in different public park. For $25 a day, terrible... might as well go to the $5 indoor temporay pickleball facilty hosted by public schools, churches, or community centers to help the neighborhood out. I hope my friend get their money back from their reservations. read more

On 11.26.24 I visited the HUB in Alameda for the first and last time. For the record, I had no intention of writing this review, but no one followed up with me regarding this experience. My only contact with any HUB employee was pertaining to my day passes being refunded. On the day listed above, I arrived at the facility and warmed up in the weight room for approximately 30 minutes. While doing so, I observed the players on each of the courts throughout the facility as well as the movements of employees that wore company attire. Note: At no point did I observe any employee approach and ask any player for their DUPR rating. The incident occurred when I played two games (on the 4.5+ Court) with a person I had just met and we won back-to-back games against the same two people. After the second game, the three players left the court and the person with whom I came to the facility stepped on the court and we began to drill because there were no paddles in the rack. While we were drilling, I observed an employee (Barry Ko) speaking with one of the individuals who played on the losing team next to the 4.0 Court. Barry Ko then approached the court where we were drilling (4.5+ Court) and stood there while looking at his phone for approximately 5-10 minutes. When 2 of the 3 players returned to the court with 2 additional players, Barry Ko told the person I was with 'you are not 4.5+ and can not play on this court.' She replied 'no problem' and then pointed at me and stated 'but he is'. It is worth noting that while she was exiting the court, the individual who played on the team I played against in the previous two games told her 'he hopes she doesn't mind that he plays with his group', which means Barry Ko kicked me, one of the winners of the previous two games, off the 4.5+ Court so that his friend or associate could play with his desired group on an open play court. Barry Ko then said 'I can not play there' and I replied by telling him 'I am above a 4.5 rating'. Barry Ko then said he wanted to look me up on DUPR and I informed him I am not on DUPR (intentionally). Barry Ko then told me I could play on the 4.0 Court even though I had just one consecutive games on the 4.5+ Court. I then asked Barry Ko, "how do you know I am a 4.0 or 3.5 rating?" to which he had no response. Barry Ko, then stated "you can challenge the 4 players now standing on the 4.5+ Court after this game" to which I replied "if I am being told to leave the court because I do not have a DUPR rating, why would you offer me to challenge the winners when I still will not have a DUPR rating after the game" to which he had no reply. If this were a company policy, and not some creation of Barry Ko, all people wishing to enter the facility should be told they can not play pickleball in the facility without a DUPR rating prior to accepting money from every single person but we were told no such thing when I paid for us to enter the facility. I then told Barry Ko (approximately 3 times) to refund my money right now in a much more direct manner. Barry Ko then walked to the front desk and told the person at the counter to refund our day pass entrance fees. While I was conversing with the employee at the front desk, I observed Barry Ko talking about me to two of the players that came to the 4.5+ court (including the player that had just lost two consecutive games), so I approached Barry Ko, and told him "if you have something to say about me, then say it to me" to which his only reply was "I am giving you your refund." In conclusion, Barry Ko is a coward, biased and extremely unprofessional. I have zero respect for this individual and think his type of behavior is one of the ills of society (I will not elaborate on this particular point). I have been in competitive sports since childhood, have competed at almost every level, and am a member and have played at many tennis/pickleball clubs, country clubs, as well as have been a member at gyms from Equinox to 24hr Fitness, and I have never experienced such treatment. Lastly, I own multiple businesses and would never tolerate my employees treating any of our clients or customers in such a manner. Note: I almost made it to the professional level as an athlete in two sports and I have coached professional athletes and teams in those two sports (there is no DUPR Rating). Furthermore, a friend of mine is a top 50 tennis player on the tour and there is no DUPR rating. A true rating is based on skill, and not wins and losses. DUPR is a business that gathers information and utilizes their so-called rating system to gather the information that drives their business model. Pickleball was created before 'apps' were accessible by the general public, there were professional players before DUPR, and Ben Johns will still be Ben Johns regardless of the existence of DUPR and its' business model. read more
