I would like to know where the true business is so I can put a proper review on it. I bought the garlic and chives hummus last week. I asked how long it was good for. I got a 2 week after opening response. It's not packaged for proper storage so the date was 1 week out. Ok. I understand some ppl can inhale Hummus. I can't. It's an eat fresh veggies dip in my family. The guy at the farmers market wasn't nice and didn't offer a sample to me which I know he has regularly. I have taste buds and they disappointed here. I wanted to and was happy to support a small business. Honestly this hummus was so disappointing. I will stick to store bought from now on. read more

Their "Farmers Market Recipe" dolmas are those same awful canned dolmas you get everywhere. Seriously guys? By vending at farmers markets, the implication is that you are local business that actually grows or makes its own food. Not to mention the labeling on the package previously mentioned. SO DISAPPOINTING, I was hoping for some actual real dolmas, but I could not swallow these disgusting canned wannabes. I'm just gonna put this here so I remember: the habanero lime is the sh*t (in a good way). First hummus I've had that actually has some spice to it. It warms the cockles. The black bean harrisa has a tomato flavor to it. It's also good, but I prefer the habanero lime. I can't wait to try more flavors. At farmer's markets, the hummus guy carries their whole stock, but ive only found 2 or 3 flavors at Whole Foods. Its $5 a tub at farmer's markets, and it's worth every ounce. Please note that at Whole Foods it's a little cheaper (wow now there's something you don't read every day)--about $4.50 a tub, but again, you're not guaranteed the flavors you want. These pita chips are bomb!! They're not thick like supermarket pita chips, but flat and crispy. I thought the garlic pita chips were good but the lemon one are BETTER! The avocado and cilantro hummus is super delicious as well! Make sure you stop by here and grab a bag of lemon pita chips and some hummus! $5 for some of the best too damn delicious hummus I've ever had. I love the roasted garlic & chives hummus the most. As a matter of fact, I am munching on baby carrots dipped in the hummus as I type. The pita chips are a-okay, a little too thin for my liking because they don't really withstand the delicious hummus very well. I've tried every single hummus. Yeap, every single one The Hummus Guy offers. They're not stingy with the samples. They encourage you to sample! As an avid cilantro hater, I actually didn't mind their cilantro avocado hummus. Went to the Old Oakland' Farmet Market and bought the garlic and chive hummus....DELICIOUS! Fresh, and great balance of flavor and creamy texture! I will have to try the other flavors and pita chips they offer. Definitely worth the price of $5 a tub...$4 if you buy 4 or more. read more

I cannot even begin to describe how delicious the hummus is! It is divine!!! I love hummus and on occasion, I'm make my own. Last week was the first time I bought the Original hummus. I couldn't get enough! I shared it with my co-worker who was also amazed at how delicious and creamy the hummus was. Every Wednesday is when the farmers market shows up at Civic Center in SF. I have been waiting an entire week for the Hummus Guy. I took my co-worker and we each dropped $20 (buy four, get one free). I bought the following flavors: Original, Black Bean with Chipotle Harissa, Roasted Red Pepper, Habanero Lime Hummus, and Baba Ganooj. I love them equally. The hummus is so addicting. No joke, if you open one, you'll want to finish it in one sitting. The pita bread and pita chips he makes are also delicious. You can really taste the quality in his food. I actually found The Hummus Guy at the Montclair Farmers' Market, but as there's no posting for The Hummus Guy in Oakland, I write my review here. Wow. This Hummus Guy really knows his hummus. It's delicious. There are a lot of brands of hummus out there, and many of them are good. The Hummus Guy is one of my favorites. Yeah, he's more expensive that the crap you'll get at the supermarket (TJ's, which isn't bad, gives twice as much for a dollar less), but you won't get any of the preservatives or the aftertaste. I can attest that everything that this guy makes is delicious. I've sampled it all. His chips -- oh my god, his chips -- are fantabulous. I don't buy them, as I'd eat them all in one sitting (garlic or lemon, both are great). At Montclair, everything is five bucks. Buy four, the fifth is free (reducing the per unit cost by twenty percent. Hey, you gotta spend money to save). I've never availed myself of that promotion because I'd burn through them all in one day. I'm not ashamed to say that I've never had a hummus container from this guy that wasn't consumed in its entirety immediately after opening. Marin Gourmet (Affi's) is another one of my favorite Middle Eastern type spreads. They also have delicious chips, though different, and while Marin Gourmet makes hummus (spicy hummus, caper hummus), they also make several other non-hummus spreads (their Aubergine is amazing; the Olive/Walnut Tapenade is incredible; the Chimichurri is delicious). Marin Gourmet also makes pita, which is carbohydrate crack. The Hummus Guy, however, reigns hummus and he does it with aplomb. I like his name -- "guy". These are by far the best tasting pita chips I've ever had (and I've had plenty of pita chips from different places). I tried the lemon pita chips and they were absolutely delicious. They're lightly flavored, but flavored just enough. The chip itself is not as hard as your typical pita chip, but yet still has a nice crunch to it. I also love the hummus here. The hummus is creamy, flavorful, and has the perfect texture. Really pairs well with those pita chips! read more

Stopped by the stand at the Civic Center farmer's market on Sunday morning. I was pretty impressed with the hummus, and blown away by the lemon pita chips. I had the jalapeno & cilantro, black bean, and garlic hummus - the black bean was my favorite, but all were really good. Nothing artificial goes into the hummus, which is nice because (1) it makes you feel better about yourself, and (2) it "forces" you to finish the tub in 2 weeks after opening. Now, on to the lemon pita chips. They're zesty, perfectly seasoned, have an awesome crisp to them, and aren't greasy at all. Some of the best pita chips I've ever had! I get random spurts of a health kick. I go to the gym, cut out all "bad food" and start picking up good foods. With that said, a few months ago, after the gym, I went to the store to pick up something healthy to snack on. I was craving guacamole, but didn't want to make it myself since it was 1am, so i went to the prepackaged section. All the guac looked bland. However, next to the guac was an assortment of hummus. Obviously there are brands that stand out because there more well known so i picked up one and read the ingredients, needless to say I put that one back due to the preservatives and types of oil they used ( the health nut ) then i saw the hummus guy, big "local" tag below it, picked it up, loved the simplicity of the ingredients, decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, I was so addicted to the Spicy Jalapeño Cilantro flavor that i got it every day for 3 weeks straight not even lying lol. I would buy 2 things of if and eat one on my lunch break, and one on my dinner break. Everything this guy makes is awesome. Me and my fiance went to the farmers market by wells Fargo center last weekend, saw his stand and knew we'd be back. We got the lemon pita chips, avocado hummus, harissa, halva cacao, and of course baklava. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was awesome. I grew up on middle eastern food, my grandma has shopped at the same Syrian bakery since she was a little girl. I've eaten hummus and baklava forever and his baklava out right kills what I have had in the past. The hummus is amazing, the harissa is delicious, even though I'd like it hotter, but it is still amazing and I put it on everything. Also this is the best halva I've ever had.
