Great place recommended by a dance teacher. Coming for years on and off . They have any spice you can imagine numerous honeys .Olives in bulk at a pretty good price. Beans for days and any Mediterranean food you can name except there are no to go meals. They have dried fruits crystallized ginger. Tea's forever from everywhere dried lavender just name it. Olive oil plus olive oil soaps . Pita is hard to find in this city but here they have several choices plus of course Baklava. The list goes on and on . Highly recommend inhouse made muhummara (red pepper & walnut dip, comes in 8 oz & 16 oz tubs) and sesame bread from Aroma's Hamati Bakery (imported from San Bruno)--delicious savory combo! As a recent transplant to SF from NYC, I had no idea where to get my usual South Asian goods. Thankfully we found Samirami's and I was able to pick up my trusty Alphonso mango purée for making mango lassi, kataifi for making Dubai chocolate-inspired things, Cortes rose water (my favorite brand), Cortes orange blossom water, and pomegranate molasses. They even had a lot of pistachio paste though I had just bought some from Greece and Italy so I didn't need any. read more

Been coming here for 7 years as it's the only clean vendor of Middle Eastern goods I can find in the city:) They have everything you'll need for cooking or pantry items; both fresh and frozen. They also source fresh ftayer from a local auntie and they are DELICIOUS (and have a spicy kick). Great Middle Eastern / Palestinian grocery store. I get all kinds of stuff from here - housemade prepared foods (love the muhummara), cheese & halloumi (7 kinds!), herbs and loose-leaf tea, bulk nuts & dried fruits (barberries, hard to find), spices, flatbread / pita, and pantry items like olive oil & tahini in giant jars. Multiple kinds of harissa. I love the olive oil soaps and treats like imported biscuits, halvah & turkish delight -- so pretty. I love coming here and browsing the shelves. This is my Arab store of choice...but they also have ingredients for Indian food and other cuisines that are culinary neighbors. The staff are friendly, and you know you are walking into a family-owned business when you are inside. Prices are reasonable. If you have never treated yourself to Palestinian olive olive for dipping and finishing, be sure to pick some up here. If you don't know what to cook tonight, you can walk in, buy some cheese, bread, olives, oil...and maybe something frozen...and, voila! You have have dinner. For the Mission, it's relatively easy to park, as you are almost at Cesar Chavez. Without this market, I would have to travel much farther away. read more

There are few stores I love more than this one. Just walking in, the smells of the spices etc take me way back to when my mother would take me as a young child shopping in a Middle Eastern grocery store. Samiramis has so much in a small store. A few examples... Hard to find spices by bulk (3+ types of zataar!), house made babaganoush and humus, lovely spinach pies, bulk nuts and fruit, a small produce section, bulk olives, jars of Eastern European pepper salads, baklava..... etc etc etc. The people that work there are always willing to help you choose between this tahini or the other and always friendly. Growing up in SF in the 80s and 90s this was one of the few middle eastern grocery stores around so we shopped here a lot. It's a different story today with many stores to choose from but the selection of products here is almost unmatched. The olive station in the back is amazing go check it out! Food is fresh and pans the Arab world. The Owen's are all good people, friendly and helpful. They also have a fresh halawa (halva) section that they slice and wrap for you. Right before you walk in you are hit with an array of spice smells that transports you to another world. Gives them a try and they just might become your go to middle eastern grocery spot. read more

My go to spot for middle eastern groceries and quick snacks. Their muhammara is by far the best I've had in the city, no need to go to a restaurant for it. They sell it fresh in two different sizes along with hummus which I havent gotten yet. Their za'atar pitas are also phenomenal, so soft, fluffy, and flavourful. And their cheeses that make great breakfasts that I grow up with. Trust me even their frozen Kibbehs are sooo good. I stop by this market yesterday and mind you I was there a few weeks back and enjoy my most fast shop. So yesterday I was back to ask more question about sometime I just learn about. Now mind you the gentleman who was working was busy putting away a bread delivery. I told him what I had purchase before and asked about getting some different. He stoped what he was doing and took the time to explain to me the questions I was asking about. I had a few other question and took me the area in this store and showed me what he had available super I'm out of there. As I was about to pay for my items, I noticed he had Oliver Oil so I ask him which he would recommend, He suggested three different ones and them I ask him if he happen to have one from Palestine and he smile and said yes, if I recall correctly he has maybe two from Palestine . I bought one because as I'm very low on Olive Oil. But let me tell you this oil is so great, used it on Sunday afternoon with OM goodness this is light and has a totally lovely full body and what it does to grill onions is out of the world. Stop in and support this local small business you will not be disappointed believe me. Great service with a smile and kind thank you. As you leave there business this was once the way San Francisco use to be this I my hometown this business is what it once was. Samiramis was the Queen of Babylon to whom the legendary Hanging Gardens were built in tribute by King Nebuchadnezzar II. Now that piece of mythological trivia probably has nothing to do with the price of fava beans at this dimly lit store in the Mission, but what the hey, it makes for an interesting story, doesn't it? Jamie W., my friend Linda and I stumbled upon the store on the way to Old Jerusalem, which is quite fitting since it felt like a quick trip to the Middle East. There are some fascinating goodies in here not the least of which were raw almonds still in their leafy coverings, which the owner salted for us to nibble on. Tasty in a most unexpected way. But I have to tell you I was most intrigued when I discovered this little store was just profiled in the New York Times a month ago. The young manager's name is Wadee Imseeh, an accountant from the West Bank, and he took over from the man who owned it for nearly four decades. I can't begin to tell you about all the exotica in here from all the different jars of tahini to the hookahs on the top shelf to the vats of olives in the back ready for the scooping (see photo). Linda was excited to find fresh fava beans in the tiny produce section in front. I will definitely come back for the hummus in the refrigerated section and the four kinds of zaatar he sells. We had 15-20 minutes to pass while waiting for a table at Old Jerusalem restaurant, so we popped over into Samiramis to gawk at the fascinating displays of ethnic goods. Loved the eye-catching hookahs at the front windows, and were astonished to see the colossal dates and raisins. The gigantic flatbreads were also mind-expanding. But it was the Baklava that hooked me. Not too sweet or spiced, the filo was still crisp. The nuts crunchy. Decadent. The hummus was a bargain, and finding tomato paste in glass jars was exciting. Loved the indian and middle eastern spice pastes that were very clean and free of additives and preservatives. The bulk spice section was also very affordable. Love this place! I go here at least once a week, mainly cause of my addiction to their labne and pita bread, but I highly recommend the halva as well, it's just such a treat! Their produce section is also worth 5 stars, I buy my tangerines and cucumbers exclusively from Samiramis cause I don't know how, but they're way fresher and way more delicious. I'll be honest, I don't know much about Middle Eastern groceries - or the general going prices for said groceries - but I LOVED Samiramis Imports! I learned about them when my friend mentioned they catered some baklava for a party at her office. Samiramis Imports has an amazing selection of Middle Eastern groceries, from huge flatbreads covered in zaatar to all types of olives and teas. I picked up some hummus from their cold case, which was sooooo good it rivals the hummus at Oren's hummus. I was NOT expecting that, to say the least! I also picked up some sage tea, which was interesting, some canned dolmas (which were great), and some orange blossom water for my roommate that likes to bake.
