High incompetent. Extremely greedy; manipulative, dishonest and excessive billing. Morally bankrupt. After one court proceeding, in which Dan was not able to defend me in any way, shape or form, I knew how incompetent he was and I terminated him as my attorney. During my retention of his services, I felt like his retainer was like a sieve, the money just vanished! Mr. Hunter helped me through a very difficult divorce. My wife took off to Ohio with our son. Dan immediately went to court and got an order awarding me sole legal and sole physical custody. When my wife still refused to return, he started the process of reporting the matter to the District Attorney. My ex then immediately returned our son to Orange County. I hired Daniel to go to trial for me but he used my $5,000 retainer long before trial started, even though he said the retainer was enough for trial as well as the paperwork. He billed significantly more than the amount in my retainer without telling me until I received a bill. His staff was excruciatingly slow in answering my questions. It took months to finish my preliminary declaration of disclosure, which other lawyers say should only take about 4 hours for finances like mine. Then after he finished my paperwork, he accused me of not disclosing things which I had clearly disclosed. That made me realize having him represent me in court would be a mistake. I ended up going to court and representing myself. Daniel gave some of my money back after I presented the facts of my experience working with him and his staff.
