I asked for 4 pastries but couldn't get them in one container (?!) they had to be put into individual containers cuz...it's this mindless following of arbitrary rules made by nobody that I find to be the antithesis of customer service. Especially when half of the staff remembered us from 6 months ago. I get it, hard to get good help and it's a big place. Great products and hard to find imported items abound. I'll be back, hopefully the management has spanked some employees by then.

The coffee was quite nice too as there was no bitterness. They have lots of sweet things that are freshly baked. We tried the ginger snap cookie and it was excellent. Of course it was sweet because it's a cookie but not eccessively sweet. I think it was the best ginger snap cookie I've ever tasted. You can order take out, patio or dine inside. In the café the walls are decorated with a lot of paintings by, I assume, local artists. There is one washroom in the dining area. Parking on the street is plentiful. Would I come back? Absolutely.

Alas, they only had a hot sunny day patio overlooking a dusty parking lot and traffic to show for it. Apart from the hefty price tag, these people can really bake. My raspberry cream cheese brownie ($3.55) kept for two days and tasted divine with lactose-free Natrel milk. Unbelievable. This one alone's worth going back for. I got a lemon curd tart to go as well (at a steep $4.75) and this one, made with a fresh butter crust and lemons, is fabulous for anyone with a tart-sweet fix. Quality is right up there but portions are tiny for price. I'm beginning to smarten up and realize that there are good places in town, but you pay an arm and a leg for it cause they virtually have no competition. Well, really, even the terrible places you pay an arm and a leg for. On the bright side, this also means I'm saving a lot of money cause I'm not eating out 4x a week like in Vancouver.
