This review is massively overdue. I'm a former frequent flyer here, and I have to say TIF is my all-time favorite one-stop shop for anything photographic in the Bay Area. I started coming here six years ago to augment the lab time and instruction I was getting in school. Their darkroom was my happy place for a long time and was fairly priced. What impressed me the most about their gorgeous space was that they encouraged clients to get their work off their screens and onto the walls. Literally, any time I had a question about anything related to photography or printing, Stuart, Ed, Constance, Chrysta, or Nathan would make the time for me and help me out or give me feedback. I enjoyed printing there and always left feeling inspired because they were so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. A a small business owner I have never left another business a bad review, but this experience was unacceptable. My artwork was mishandled and the finished product I had hired them for was poorly executed and unusable. I had to take it to a qualified business afterwards who confirmed they did not do a good job. When I raised the issue, the owner and staff were dismissive, refused a refund, and ignored multiple emails and calls. Their unprofessional behavior was bizarre and astonishing. They clearly aren't equipped to handle valuable artwork. Save yourself the headache and take your projects elsewhere. read more

Image Flow is such a fun and interesting place. My boss had an old bubbled photo he wanted restored for a donation to the Air Force Academy. They took the old photo and had a digital copy that included a restoration of minor details. This image is saved by them and is then emailed to you. From this image you can reproduce it. The image photo itself was $60. The copy of that image is 18"X 22" and all together it cost $190 for a print of that new image. For artists this is a dream come true. The new image looked a thousand times better and I was excited to get it back. This business is beneath the old movie theater in downtown San Anselmo at the hub. Image Flow has unethical business practices. They destroy an artist' s work without consulting the artist, and they laugh about it. Stuart is condescending and downright unprofessional. He hangs up on people like a middle schooler. I will recommend to the Better Business Bureau to revoke their business license. Nathan should be fired. No one should work with them. read more

I worked with Stuart Schwartz and Jeff Young recently on a project for the not-for-profit organization where I work, and they are the best. Jeff managed to take excellent photos despite the notoriously poor lighting in our Auditorium. Even though he was doing the photography pro bono, the time he committed to the project and the quality of his photos would be worthy of a top-dollar photographer. He was very friendly and accommodating--even though the subjects could be challenging to corral and capture in the optimally flattering way. I would highly recommend the Image Flow! Just took their Photoshop Essentials class and was impressed after the very first meeting. It's a seven week class and a bit on the pricey side. I'd been looking for a class to learn more about my camera and photography in general. Their class description was the closest I had come to finding what I was looking for. After the first class, I felt like I had already gotten my money's worth! Stuart and Matt are very knowledgeable, patient, informative and helpful. There is instruction on using your camera, lighting, weekly assignments, using editing software in addition to viewing and discussing the class' weekly pictures. The class size is not too big and not too small. It's just the right size for individual help while also having a wide enough variety of style, opinons and photography experience. I got to know the guys at ImageFlow when they became a pick up/drop off location for borrowlenses, a lens rental company. Stuart Schwartz and Matt are both extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to photography. I've been an amateur photographer for 40 years. We rented image flow's space for a wedding rehearsal dinner for thirty people. With their photo gallery ,the setting was beautiful. Our guests could mingle with each other looking at the art. The large photo area was used for the rehearsal and photos. Stewart, Jackie and Matt were very helpful. Jackie is a wonderful chef and can really make great items, from tapas to full on dinners. I have been looking for a professional photo lab that prints gallery archival digital prints equally as beautiful as traditional fiber printing. I have found it! This lab is second to none and is not only a lab but you can rent traditional darkroom time and studio space right in Mill Valley. I used to have to drive to San Francisco for this kind of professional photo lab and studio space. Just returned from a 10 workshop in Umbria, Italy led by Stuart Schwartz, owner of the Image Flow and Jeff Zaruba, an accomplished professional photographer that also leads workshops at the Image Flow. The "theme" of the workshop was the slow food movement, "farm to table". For 10 days we travelled to many magnificent villages in Umbria. Often, we were introduced to many of the artisans that grow, create and prepare the delicious food we ate. I am grateful for Stuart and Jeff's talent to scout and then share with us such a rich culture in this magnificent, and historic country. Their hands on instruction every day gave us the ability to capture our experiences. I'm an amateur photographer and feel fortunate to have discovered The Image Flow as a resource. I have taken various workshops and private instruction from Chrysta and Nathan. They also print photographs for me and for professional photographers as well.
