They will promise you a date to start or finish which is very deceptive! The salesman will not explain to you that you are signing a contract! The small piece of handwritten that he had us to sign was not described to us as a contract! It's so very sad that the Improvement Store deceptive way has been so dramatically affected my husband and I because we are both Senior Citizens in our 77years of life not to trust anyone! They charged me $14,000 to resurface a 320 sf deck and a 3 panel door. After a year, the deck was all valleys and hills. They representative, Tim Moss had verbally guaranteed that should the base be defective- which it was,- it would also be replaced. He had also guaranteed replacing our deck railing and ballusters back on to save us a good amount if $ but their installers refused to do it. We paid for pre-guaranteed composite or vinyl exterior door framing but got wood instead that started to rot almost instantly. Since we complained about 14 months adrer the work had been completed they refused to redo them. We have been stuck with highly defective and expensive products and were threatened on the phone by shane who claimed he had the best lawyers and sgould we sue, he would seize our home, cars, bank accounts and we would have to live in a gutter! read more

We contracted with The Improvement Store for roof, window and siding replacement. The sales person, Josh, was on time and knowledgeable. After the initial meeting we had the full scope of work planned and had approved financing. It took around 4 hours with my wife and I asking a lot of questions and making color selections. Josh was very patient and assisted throughout the meeting and beyond with any issues or questions I had. No down payment or deposit was required. The roofing installation was scheduled within a few weeks and was completed on time. Jack and his crew were friendly and hard working. After the roof install was complete, the window installer came out to measure for windows to be ordered and manufactured. At the time the material became available to install, I had some other projects going on around the house and asked to delay the siding and window installation. They worked with me and pushed the schedule out on two different occasions, extending the project by about a month. The siding and window replacement was scheduled next and was completed on time. Alberto and his crew did a really good job on the siding and windows. During the entire process, I was contacted with general weekly updates and as the dates approached, material delivery and installation dates. After the roofing and siding were complete, I noticed a couple of minor installation issues that I didn't catch before I signed off on the completion forms. Our PM, John, made sure all of my concerns were addressed and the issues were taken care of before closing out the job and sending in the paperwork for the loan to begin. Overall our experience was positive and I am happy with the work that was completed. I will consider The Improvement Store again in the future for any home renovation projects. read more

We got a new 6' privacy fence from Carolina Improvements and they did an awesome job. They actually were able to schedule us a couple of weeks earlier than they originally estimated. I called specifically because their website says they can "repair" roofs. They also mention this long list of improvements for siding, fencing, flashing, etc. In the Hurricane Florence we lost big parts of our fence, some siding, some shingles, flashing, gutters, window screens, and have leaks inside. I was very clear when I called about what we needed. They sent someone who said a "new roof will cost blah, blah, blah. Oh and you don't need one by the way. A repair is all you need." We need estimates for repairs. There's a whole laundry list. "All I do is estimate to replace a new roof." Okay send someone else. So I call customer service and get the same run around. Thanks for wasting everybody's time. Fix your site or your customer service please. How incredibly unprofessional. read more

Carolina Improvements have impressed me beyond belief! They installed carpet in my bedroom that is stain resistant and feels like you're walking on air. I can wipe up any stains in minutes and you cannot see any "tell-tell" residue. Their installers were professional and conscientious while laying the carpet. I used Carolina improvements to put a new metal roof on. I used them mainly because of easy access to financing. The roof is ok for the most part(fairly expensive but that is my fault for not looking for other estimates) but they have some issues with customer service. 1st and probably the least important is the bad habit of just showing up at the house without any warning. 2nd and a bigger problem. Once roof was on I noticed in a rain storm that one section of my gutters wasn't working. When I looked I saw that the metal was brought all the way down to almost outside edge of gutter making it useless(water just flows over it). It's strange that only this 10ft section on a porch has this problem as rest of house is fine. I called and was told on 1st call that it would be fixed. 2 weeks later I get a call back and am told they will send their gutter people to replace it at my cost. I was told it wasn't their fault and fixing it would be my expense. My gutters were working fine with the old roof. It looks like that section of roof wasn't put on properly. read more

There are no words to express how thrilled we are with our new windows and doors. We can already feel a difference in the temperature inside the house. The staff was amazing during the process from beginning to end. Our installers were absolutely awesome. During the installation process (which was in temps over 95°), they gave us continuous updates, were very courteous, and, needless to say, very hard workers. ***DO NOT MAKE A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY** We ordered a fence through this company and have been experiencing pure hell trying to get it repaired. This company is unprofessional and does not communicate with the customer. We had a fence installed for less than six months. The post to the fence is coming up and the border of the fence is bending backwards. We contacted the fence company and they took months to send someone out to look at the fence. Once someone came out to look at the fence he explained that the fence would not last because it was not installed properly. We were told that the post that are splitting has too much weight on them. We were also told and shown the cement for the post which is actually coming out of the ground. We were told that someone would be out to fixed the fence. It has been almost a month and we come home to materials in the yard. We call the fence company who did not get in contact with us and was told that they have a contractor who will fix the fence. The new contractor is not the same guy who walked around the fence with us and explained everything he planned to fix. The company could not get back in contact with the contractor who installed our fence. ***DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY** IT IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE AND FUTURE MONEY PIT Update: Our fence was repaired by the third fence contractor. He and his two workers communicated with us and was very respectful to our home and to us. They cleaned up their materials and talked with us throughout the 3 day repair. Estimator deposted the complete check an hour after I wrote it. I learn the hard way.....Never write a check for the entire amount. A good company generally requires only a third or half and the remained on complete. No grace period to cancel. Wrong old address on notice of cancellation. Cancellation must be in writing, Now I wait to get my money back. I won't be doing business with this company again. read more

The whole process has been a nightmare. After I signed the contract I didn't hear from them for months. they finally show up and throw my fence together. after a few months I noticed the back section of the fence was leaning very badly. told them about it and they said they would take care of it. a few more months go by and the send some one out. he says the entire fence needs to be replaced because it wasn't installed correctly. They replace him with another guy that says they can just replace the post and some of the running boards. when they patched my fence back together some boards were still bowed and some not even touching the other pieces. my original fence had angled post. the new guy convinced me to go with post caps to save him time. well here we are over two months later and I still do not have post caps. my gate was repaired because it wasn't even and had a gap between the doors when closed. The fix they did lasted a few weeks and it's worse now. so long story short I spent alot of money on a fence that after a year still isnt complete. I havnt been offered any kind of discount or reimbursement. I wish they would just give me my money back and take this fence up.
