Misleading Practices and Unprofessional Behavior I visited (The Ink Lab) on (November 2, 2025) after confirming over the phone that they accepted walk-ins. Upon arrival, I was required to pay upfront. After paying, I realized they did not have the specific service/item I requested, and staff attempted to persuade me to accept an alternative. When I asked for a refund, I was told they have a strict no-refund policy and were told they "only deal with people who have money," which I found offensive and unprofessional. This experience reflects misleading business practices and poor customer service. While they ultimately accommodated me by creating a custom tool, the way I was treated was disrespectful and does not align with professional standards. The quality of this establishments tattoos and costumer service is disgusting! If you have been here before 2019, this is not the same tattoo shop it was in the past & is ran by a different person now! These people can give a shit less about your tattoo and will only focus on hustling you out of your money! No cap! The owner is very obnoxious & unprofessional! Even began arguing with my tattoo artist while he was trying to focus on my tattoo! Lighting is horrible in the tattoo rooms which also happens to have black walls.. just when you thought the environment couldn't get any worst smh. Negative 3 stars if I could. Well first off this is Jamaica Ave so you get what you pay for... If this review was based solely on Trigga's ability to transform my idea for a tattoo into a magnificent piece of concrete artwork, this place would've gotten 6 stars but its not. I recently got a tattoo done here and I'm lucky enough to say that it came out OK, no infection and it healed up fine however, I don't feel as if I'll be returning because of little things that bothered me while I'm was being worked on such as; people and the artist smoking in the shop or should I say back of store place we were at, using cheap 99 cent store baby vaseline, the artist answering his phone while tattooing me and having a conversation wait for it----with no headset just holding the phone more than once at that and lastly being pushed into getting a service done from them like all they're interested in is just taking your money. read more

This manager here manipulated me and took my money unfairly. I came into her shop because I needed help putting in ear jewelry on a recently pierced tragus. When I told her, she took a look at my ear and stated she can do it. Then, she told me that she charges first and then performs the service afterwards. I sent her the $10 through Apple Pay to her phone. She then sat me down at her chair in a room and then sprayed the jewelry I brought from home with some saline solution. Clearly my ear was irritated yet she tried jabbing in jewelry into the piercing. She then proceeded to tell me that she cannot put the jewelry in. This woman was aware of the condition of my ear beforehand and a keloid is easy to recognize at first glance. She manipulated me by telling me she is able to perform the task knowing she cannot and then refused to give me back the money after irritating my ear even more. She did not commit any form of service for me. When I called later to speak with her about this, I was blocked. I called on another phone and was blocked again. She is the "manager" of this establishment and was highly unprofessional. DO NOT GO HERE. I have never been more disappointed. read more

So first I have to explain I've been to this shop twice and had two very different experiences. The first time was back in October 2015, I had a guy named trigga do my work and I LOVED IT, he took his time added detail and I got a really good price, I walked in, negotiated my price and sat down and got my work done immediately. I'm from California so the first time I came I flew in, I moved to Georgia and the 2nd time I came I drove up and I walked into the shop and explained that I wanted to add leafs, I had been there before , figured that it wouldn't be a hassle, I negotiate a price with a girl hand her my money she walks me to another location were I waited 4 hours to get my work. I understand when shops are busy but I asked in advance before taking out any money if they could do it right away because I was on vacation I didn't have a lot of time to spare, after waiting 2 and a half hours I ask for a refund and immediately they tell me they won't give my money back I need to sit and wait and if I call the cops they can't even get me my money back because there is a tacky sign posted saying no refunds in all there locations. So I wait, then I get my work done by some artist who will remain nameless but when I say unprofessional this place is so unprofessional in every way. From the way they hustle you, to the no refund policy to the smoking cigarettes and having conversations while I was getting my work done. I posted two pictures of the work I had done to the right of my roses the leaves are beautiful and detailed to the left they look like he tatted me with his eyes close, no detail no proper outline , the leaves don't even go in the same direction. The worst part is when u try to make it clear what u want your voice is not heard because what "Cali" says goes. I felt bullied and unappreciated and the worst part is after they had my money I felt like they wasted my time just because they could. I hate the addition to my tattoo it looks sloppy and I hated the way they treated me, I literally came to New York just to have this work done and it was the biggest disappointment of my whole trip. You would imagine when someone comes back and shows loyalty that u would treat them with respect but nope. Not here. I came here for my first tattoo. Both of their shops are beautifully designed and always have a movie playing so even if i had to wait awhile I wouldn't be bored out of my mind. The artist was great because he didn't have a heavy hand, finished up pretty quickly and still gave me a clean tattoo. On top of that they really work with you in regards to price so you don't walk out of there broke. There are so many tattoo shops on the ave and I wouldn't trust my skin with anyone but sons of ink. read more

Let's first start with the shady way these people run their business by trying to rush you into making a decision about what tattoo you want. I got my 15 yrs old daughters ears piece and immediately regretted it.instead of using a piercing gun this woman uses the same needle you use to piece your navel with really.. The first guy told me I'd be charged 10 dollars and afterward the young lady who done the job charged me twenty. I ask for instructions to care for my daughter's ear along with ointment and I was told to go to the local pharmacy. These people are all about the money. It's located inside a children's clothing store. Went there recently around the beginning of February to price a tattoo. I was told by the shop owner "Cahli", or however he was called, that he would not price my tattoo until I actually have it done that day. That's understandable do to competition around the area. But what really bothered me was that: 1) They save all their clamps and forceps in a plastic tub filled with a dirty liquid. That is very unhealthy. They do not Autoclave their supplies and materials because they don't have any. 2) I waited by the clothing area to see how everything works. What I saw was not good at all. The shop owner "hustles" his clients for money and brags about how rich he is. Unprofessional. 3) He didn't even ask the little girl for ID nor have her sign any consent form for tattoo. 4) I doubt he doesn't even have a consistent dated forms to protect him from a lawsuit. 5) Went there again to get the tattoo I wanted, thinking he would give me a better deal but saw a little boy, a mere 15-16 year old, getting a tattoo and the shop owner told him that if anything he never came here. I was in shock. I turned around and walked away. 6) I waited outside to talk to the child and he confirmed he was 17. It made me sick. The child told me the owner didn't care and just wanted the money I was walking around to find another shop to do my tattoo and stumbled to another shop. in the coliseum strip. It was a second shop of Sons of Ink in the making. It looked soo dirty and their employees were all smoking cigarettes in the shop. I couldn't take the way the boss was managing his shops. Very unprofessional. Seems like he lived in the street all his life and doesn't know what a "Real" tattoo shop is. There are way better shops than here. The only legit shop around the Jamaica Area is Forevers Tattoo in the coliseum strip on 165th ST. I went there to get my tattoo done. The front girls are annoying but the artists and the shop were great. DO NOT GO HERE AT THE SONS OF INK/ INK LAB TO GET TATTOOED. VERY DIRTY AND RISKY. I was thinking about getting my cartilage pierced for a while and one day while walking down the ave, they asked if I wanted to do a body piercing and I agreed. The person literally rushed me into the room. That is not the bad part. The bad part is that the man who rushed me inside didn't even wash his hands just placed his gloves on, I didn't want to ask if he was going to wash them so instead I asked if he used a autoclave. He said yes but DID NOT do anything just pulled out the needle and lunged straight for my ear. I had to stop him because I thought he was going to mark it before stabbing me with the needle. Secondly he never disinfected my ear before using the needle. The only good part is that even though rushed he wasn't rude, and that's why I put two stars. I paid $25 for my cartilage and had immediate regret because I was uncomfortable with it. I should have just gone to dragonfly. I will update if there becomes an infection. read more
