First a quick overview - The Snowbird Inn is technically a condominium building where owners sublet their units, but you can snag any type of room, ranging from a typical-looking "hotel room" all the way to a three-bedroom apartment. Walking the halls during the morning housekeeping sweep, we scoped out a variety of setups and interior modifications (different wall paint, furniture, stainless appliances, granite counters etc.) The Inn is the only property within the Snowbird resort area with no restaurant or bar, and with a lack of a "town" otherwise, your only food options will have you leaving the building. They have a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, steam room, sauna, changing facilities, and a ski locker room. -- Comparing to Alta, with its rustic, cozy mountain feel there, I was a bit nervous checking into the Snowbird Inn - one of four hotel/resorts that comprise the Snowbird Resort property. Despite the upscale feel around the property however, Snowbird staff in general are super friendly and accommodating, and the Snowbird Inn was no exception! We arrived at the Inn early Monday morning, dropped our bags off, changed into our ski gear, and went off to Alta for the day (about a five-minute drive up the road). Although not the norm, they offered us a ride over to Alta in their resort Suburban, dropping us off at the historic Goldminer's Daughter Lodge where we started our ski day. After skiing and taking the free UTA bus back to Snowbird, we checked in Monday night with Barbara, who was as kind as could be. Barbara whipped out a resort map and showed us the lay of the land, consisting of the "Ski Center" and four different hotels/resorts, all within walking distance. Each hotel offers a restaurant or bar (or in the case of the Cliff Lodge, several) with different-themed cuisines at each. She made food recommendations and happily pointed out the après ski spots, based on the "scene" we were looking for. Come evening, she summoned the shuttle to give us a ride over to the Cliff Lodge, where we grabbed dinner and drinks. The next morning, she was behind the desk (she promised us she got some rest!) greeting both of us by name before offering us a copy of the New York Times. As mentioned before, the Inn has a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, which we immediately hit after our first day out! The hot tub is big enough to hold 6-8 comfortably and the pool is perfect for when you're too hot (yes, that can happen even in the dead of winter!) or want to swim some laps to loosen up. After checking out of the Inn Tuesday morning, staff were happy to hang onto our bags and offer up their showers and changing facilities so we could ski Snowbird, then freshen up before heading back to Salt Lake City that evening. Most hotels are happy to accommodate their guests like this, but the Snowbird Inn is one of those friendly places where you don't feel funny asking. Overall, we had a phenomenal visit to the Little Cottonwood Canyon area, and we're glad we stayed on the Snowbird property - I'll definitely be back! read more

Lodging like your parents used to use back in the 80s! It would be one thing if they charged you 60 bucks; then there would be a value but at $200 plus a night it's a rip unless you want a night up in the canyon and don't care where you sleep. It's the cheapest place around. However, try to get a room on one of the top floors. We stayed under the lobby and the carpet is nasty, the bedding is nasty and everything around you creeks. It's also quite noisy. What's worse is there no view. read more

Works pretty well for groups - many rooms are set up as connectable pairs, one a bedroom, the other a living room/full kitchen (which only has a pull-out couch), with full bathrooms in each. They have balconies too. Rooms are fine, beds are pretty comfy. They come with a good selection of pots, pans, etc, and a dishwasher too. There are free ski lockers, a fitness center, saunas, and a big heated outdoor pool & hot tub. And damn, is it heated! Seriously bath temperature pool. Very nice. It's ski-in, if you're careful and a bit sneaky, but definitely not ski-out. At least it's not a long walk to the tram. You'll probably be amused by the odd concrete-centric design and confusing array of hallways & strange concrete stairwells. It feels like something out of a video game. read more

This is a great place and a remarkable deal for your money. The staff is all extremely friendly and helpful. We went as a group of five and got a standard hotel room and the efficiency studio. The studio was great with a fire place and is set up more like a living room then a hotel room. I didn't mind the Murphy bed either. But really the best part is the kitchen. They describe it as a kitchenette on their website but this is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Aside from not having a full size fridge, this is a full kitchen with all the kitchen supplies you need to make a full meal for 5 hungry guys after a day of skiing. The only really negative is that the place is on the older side and while it is clean, it is not luxurious. It was built in the 70s and looks like it. The TV (not that big of a deal) was a 19 inch tube television. If your looking for a great deal for your money with all the amenities that you could possibly ask for but don't need the most luxurious hotel, this is definitely the place to go. read more

My wife and I got a little studio with a murphy bed at the Inn to get out of the city for a night. The bed wasn't super comfortable and we probably would have preferred something with a little more room. There wasn't really anywhere to park other than alongside the side of the highway. the room was clean, and had a small kitchen which would have been nice for a longer stay during ski season. read more

This hotel is bad. It is very run down and our room was pretty dirty/gross. The room had ONE pillow per person, hardly any towels. The pool hours are 10am-10pm, my kids were so excited to finally get out there at 10...it was still covered and super dirty, they didn't come clean/open it until almost 11. Really stupid when checkout is at 11. The buffet breakfast, which is $20/person, was gross, barely edible. The beds were so uncomfortable, my back hurt so bad after our 1 night of sleep in it. There is no A/C so the room was extremely hot all night. It was NOT a cheap room, we would have been better off at a cheap Best Western. I would never stay here again. And the parking sucks...we were told that if we couldn't find a spot, we could park on the road. read more

Very short walk to the slopes, plenty of amenities, comfortable spacious rooms, had a great experience. Jack is the manager there and he was absolutely fantastic, he bent over backwards to accommodate us and it was very much appreciated. read more

The rooms are so cheap-looking. I would NEVER stay here again. I can't believe They charge $300 night. The furniture in the room look like it was never upgraded from the 70s. Unfriendly staff. The coffee in the lobby is watered down. The room did not have a glass to use, when we asked for a glass we were given small paper cups that leaked. The only good thing is that it's in the resort close to ski. I strongly advise to stay at other resorts at snowbird read more

Overpriced and outdated... I walked into my canyon view condo style room to see a great view of the parking lot. The fireplace I was so excited to use didn't work, and I had to do some serious furniture rearranging to even let the murphy bed lay down. It was a decent place just not worth the insane amount they charge per night. Finding a cool Airbnb next time! read more

Why you should go here: 1) quick 2-3 day ski trip. Ski in/ski out option is great 2) we had a rental car so was easy to go to town to eat and pick up things. If you don't rent a car, then your restaurant options will be limited as inn has no food options and you'll need to walk to the snowbird center. Which has limited options due to off season. 3) we love spring ski conditions so this was perfect for us. 4) room was clean and spacious for two of us. We knew about the 70's decor and the Murphy bed so we were prepared and okay to deal with that. Didn't matter since you're on the slopes all day. Snowbird is a great mountain for skiers. Not for beginners but excellent for all other levels. We will def go back for the same type of short ski trip. Nothing fancy but a decent place to crash. Cost: we paid $426 for two nights and two day lift passes for two. This is the cheapest option but all the properties look the same so don't spend more because you won't get more. We only stayed here for the lift passes. Otherwise this is not worth $200/night. read more
