Gave up our Hawaii timeshare to spend a week in the mountains of Utah. The view of the mountain was great from our 6th floor, two-story unit. Two full bathrooms, full kitchen, kitchenware. It was a great setup. Even thought though one of their outside pools was closed for the season, they have another heated pool on the 3rd floor deck and a large hot tub just inside. The second floor rec room has coffee in the morning which is great. By far, the best thing about this lodge was the quality of staff. They are so nice and everyone has a servant's heart. Refreshing!!! My only observation is that because this is a family establishment, at times, kids were running around all over the place. Playing hide and seek in the elevators and the people above us sounded like they were raising cattle with their kids running back and forth at night and 7am in the morning. Skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon, you have three main lodging options: 1 - Stay on the Snowbird Resort property. There, you can choose the grandiose Cliff Lodge, the Snowbird Inn, the Lodge at Snowbird, or the Iron Blosam. All four are well-built concrete structures that fit the landscape. With the exception of the Inn, all properties have some sort of restaurant or bar. 2 - Stay on the Alta Resort property. The Goldminer's Daughter and Alta Peruvian Lodge are two historic slopeside lodges that provide both breakfast and dinner as part of your room rate. These are rustic accommodations for those looking for a "no-frills" place to crash in between days of hard skiing. 3 - Stay in SLC and shlep up/down each morning. It's about a 20-30 minute commute through avalanche-prone passages, with risks of road closures depending on weather. Although we didn't stay at the Iron Blosam during our visit, we stopped by for a few pints and a quick snack at Wildflowers (Yelp page: http://www.yelp.com/biz/wildflower-restaurant-and-lounge-snowbird) and scoped the property out while we were there. I have really given some serious thought as to what the Iron Blosam deserves for a rating. After much deliberation I am going to give it 4 stars. In all reality The Iron Blosam certainly isn't a luxury hotel, but it gets the job done as a great ski hotel. What makes a great ski hotel? Let me tell you. This place had a great hot tub and pool. The hot tub was clean, and a very pleasant 104 degree temperature. The pool was warm and great to relax in while watching the snow fly. In all reality I would like to have seen a hot tub outside too, but the wall of glass windows and doors allows the hot tub to have a nice view to the outside. Also the ski access and views are pretty good. This isn't ski in/ski out but it's just a short walk to the slopes and I was able to take the shuttle back which was simple. Also, our room was clean. The bathroom was somewhat dated but everything worked and there was no mold etc. the hallway of the hotel smelled kind of weird but I think that is because someone Burnt a pizza next to us. Also, I got relegated to the sofa sleeper. This sofa bed was ACTUALLY COMFORTABLE. I know that is crazy but it really was. No springs in my back. The lobby was also quite cozy. Comfy seats and couches and I was able to relax and read a book down there in the evening in peace and quiet. I'd certainly come back. A great place to stay for skiers. read more

I've been coming here for week 22 (first week of June) since my parents bought a timeshare in 1976. Our double unit has been remodeled and refurnished several times. The two-bed unit now has a mini fridge and microwave. The kitchen unit has a sofa sleeper and gas fireplace. Each unit has a full bathroom with tub/shower, a balcony with table and chairs, and a tv with DVD player. The family outdoor swimming pool and hot tub are on the east side of the second floor. The adult outdoor swimming pool/indoor hot tub/steam room and saunas are on the west side of the second floor. There is a game room with pool and ping pong tables and arcade games on the second floor. There are also washers and dryers. Bring quarters! There is a board game room/library on the seventh floor where you can lounge or check out items. There are movies at the front desk to borrow also. There is one pricey restaurant in the building along with vending and ice machines. Free guest wifi. read more

Shoutout to Ryver and Mike, Ryver is an excellent host, and Mike is a wonderful and attentive server. Interesting concepts, and brave takes on food. While I wasn't completely on board with their flavor pairings, everything was carefully crafted. Our first item was their Amuse Bouche, a potato base with roast beef, and pickled onion. It was a pleasant palette starter, flat and flavorful, it definitely prepared the palette for the next dish. Upon request, our second course was the bread, oil, and vinegar. The bread was a rich sourdough baked with whole garlic clove, it was rich, but also a little flat flavored for palette praparation. I requested salt to heighten the garlic flavor. Our third course was the steak tartar, and hazelnut spread. The tartar was definitely an interesting take.. the secondary components were egg yolk, capers, pickles and an acidic aioli. I didn't fully enjoy the acidity of the tartar, as I felt it pulled the attention away from the steak. Their hazelnut spread was rich and earthy, but we didn't taste any notes past the earthy tones, I used our remaining aioli to heighten more flavor notes from the nut spread. Our next course was their green bean Ceasar, and their beet/goat cheese salad. The Ceasar was flavorful, though I thought the green beans didn't pair fully with the other flavors. However the Beet and goat cheese salad was expertly balanced, sweet walnuts brought out the sweetness of the beets, and the acidity of the goat cheese highlighted the already fantastic flavors. Our main course was the Duck two-way, and the Kobe Bavette. The duck breast didn't quite pair well with the cherry confit, but the dish truly shined with the tart cherry confit and the Leg meat. The Kobe bavette was my absolute favorite! The tomato confit truly accented the meat, and it was cooked to perfection! I was not pleased with the pickled mushrooms. We had coffee and a dark red wine to pair with our meal, and I would recommend doing the same. The coffee was a great palate cleanser, and the wine accented every dish. We brought our own wine, as they allow for an uncorking fee. Our dessert was the sticky toffee pudding, and wow was it staggering! Rich, and smooth, the ice cream truly contrasted the toffee sauce, and it was by far the richest yet palatable dessert I've had! read more

I've been coming up to Snowbird since I was a little girl, this marked year number 18! It's a very nostalgic, happy place for me. We have a timeshare at the Iron Blosam and it's something I look forward to every year. It's a time where I get to relax and spend time with my family. It's close enough to home that if you forget something it isn't a big deal to go down and get it, yet far enough away where you can escape everyday life. The resort offers all sorts of activities during the week for the whole family, from hiking and wilderness survival to pickle ball and bingo. There is definitely something everyone is interested in trying out. There are two pools at this resort, an adult pool 18+ and the kids pool. There is a game room with pool, air hockey and ping pong. Many hikes to go off and explore with wildlife all around! Every year we see mouse, deer, squirrels, all sorts! You can rent board games and movies from the front desk.The staff is friendly and attentive. This is a trip I plan to always attend as long as my family keeps up the tradition! read more

Our timeshare falls on the 23rd week of the year. Typically this is when all the summer fun starts. The summer activities, the festivals and movies are starting. Snowbird itself has such a great facility, with hikes, parks, and children's activities. I was disappointed this year with the housekeeping service this year. They did not have a lot of needed items in the room that should have been there, however we did have 7 remotes to one TV. I would recommend this as a great family staycation (for us) or vacation. It is close to the Valley but seems like your in another place all on bbn it's own. read more

Nice resort. The staff make this condo so memorable. Everyone is willing to go out of their way to make your experience positive. The rooms are very nice, albeit a bit outdated. I suspect a renovation will be needed in the next 10 years or so. I do need to take a star off the review due to the hot tub. While it looks great, and is clean, there is WAYYY too much chlorine being used. I used to be a lifeguard and swim instructor. I know when too much chlorine is being used simply by sensing how much my skin and eyes burn. This hot tub had SO much chlorine, that my dad developed a rash/chemical burn. This is not an isolated incident. We talked with many others who experienced a similar rash. I would highly suggest management review their chemical balances. read more

We are Interval owners at another timeshare and picked Iron Blosom for the location, which is great for hiking. However, this place is crawling with huge family groups staying on multi floors. Kids play hide and seek using the elevators, running is happening above me as I type. It is very loud from the game room, tennis courts, and pools. When they are open they are full and loud. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for a quiet vacation. read more

I arrived for a one night stay and right after I checked in I decided to extend my stay, thinking nothing of it but it was during Oktoberfest so they were extremely busy. The room I was staying in the first night was booked the next night but Luke at the front desk did everything he could to make it work out and was extremely professional about it although I know it was a pain in the ass. Everyone at the front desk helped out and every time we talk to them they are very friendly. I wish I could give extra credit stars because this type of service is very hard to find. read more

Usually has great spring skiing. We own week 15 and it has always snowed while we're there. In the last 24 hours(4/15/15) they've had the largest snowfall (20 ") this 2015 season. Alta today has a 90" base depth and 288" of snow this season so far. The heated outdoor pool and indoor hot tub are great along with the steam room and exercise room. The complimentary Wine and Cheese on Mondays is a great way to meet fellow skiers, etc. The units are well stocked with kitchen gear, humidifiers, etc. but bring all of your favorite foods since the small market at the center has a limited and pricey selection. The tap water is very good so you shouldn't need bottled water. Week 15 is the last full week for skiing at Alta, but Snowbird remains open. Alta will reopen for some weekends. There is a big arcade/game room for kids. There is also a coin laundry. Parking is plentiful and complimentary. read more

I wish I could write a better review of this place but I can't. I am an Interval International Member. I called to book accommodations for the week of Thanksgiving. When I called I specified that we needed at least a one bedroom or at least a studio with a kitchen. They assured me that's what we would get. When we arrived at 3am after driving in from California they put us in basically a hotel room. I've stayed in hotel rooms that were bigger. If it were myself and my husband alone it would have been ok. But we had our 11 year old twins with us. There is NO kitchen. There is a tiny refrigerant and microwave squeezed into the bathroom area. This was bad news for us because this resort is very isolated, the closet town is Sandy about 30 minutes down the mountain. There are restaurants but most of them were either closed or very pricey. When I asked for a unit with a kitchen to accommodate our family like I asked for on the phone they said they were sold out and tough luck. Basically we ate granola bars for breakfast every day and spent our days out in Salt Lake when we weren't skiing. There is a library and game room for kids and a nice outdoor pool that's heated. There is also a large hot tub. There is a huge sign saying the hot tub is for adults only. But that didn't stop every mom in the place from bringing her baby with a diaper in the hot tub. Disgusting. No employee came over to enforce the adults only rule. Every time we went for a relaxing soak there were kids in there splashing and crying and running around. Not relaxing. My final complaint is the maid service. They offered a free cleaning day once during the week. When we came back to our room there was a huge bug smashed on the wall by the bed and a baby pacifier and legos on the carpet!! We didn't have any babies with us and our girls don't play with legos! So we're wondering how that got there?! Scary! The pros. Nice location, great mountain to ski and the view from our balcony was beautiful. It was noisy because it was just above the pool and kids were swimming until 10pm every night. Maybe with a kitchen and a cleaner room this place would be more enjoyable. We were disappointed in the small room without a kitchen. It was too small for the 4 of us. read more

I love this place. It is absolutely beautiful. The people here are so friendly.Emily and Christine could not be more helpful and friendly giving us lots of helpful information . They go out of their way along with Lindsey to steer you to reasonable and fun things to do around the Salt Lake City area. I was looking for a camera and Lindsey was awesome telling me what stores I could find the camera in. I loved how they always suggested cool places to add and do and restaurants as well. When it came to great local restaurants be sure to ask Lindsey or Emily for suggestions. Also being locals they can give you the history of the area. I was very impressed by these girls. Decent rooms with furnished kitchen, murphy bed for guests, and 2 bathrooms. If you go to bed early, would recommend staying on the side opposite of the pool (which they keep hot even though it's snowing!) because it doesn't close until 10 PM. (Spa closes at 11 PM). read more

Iron Blosam Lodge is the Best Lodge in Snowbird. We have stayed here over 20 times. It has the best pool and spa and that is important after a hard day of skiing. It's not as pretentious as the cliff lodge and is a great place for kids. It's more family oriented and helps keep everyone focused on skiing. Most recent trip was March 2016. We go for the skiing which is the best in the US. I can't complain about little issues because management has always responded quickly to resolve them. We always have an outstanding experience staying here on the mountain while skiing at Snowbird. read more

I have been coming to Snowbird every year for more than 20 years. In my opinion, Snowbird's mountain operations and ski safety are on par with the best ski resorts in the world. This is a world-class skier's mountain which has very few resort-operated Lodging choices for those wishing to stay on the mountain: The Cliff Lodge, The Inn, The Lodge and The Iron Blosam Lodge. I have had the opportunity to stay at each of them and have enjoyed my stay every year. The experience at three of the resort properties has ranged from "good" at the Inn and the Lodge to "great" at the Cliff Lodge. However, the Iron Blosam Lodge stands out as several notches below the other choices at Snowbird. It's a shame considering the quality of the mountain and the skiing. I would summarize a stay at the Iron Blosam with the following observations: uninspired ambiance (property appears not to have been upgraded since it was built in 1974), highly variable service levels ranging from good to Cold-War Era Soviet style service ("you want 5 extra blankets? No. You will be happy with two"), kitchens in units are very poorly equipped, totally non-functional broadband for computer users (making it extremely difficult to work or communicate while staying here), Insufficient guest laundry facilities (impossible to get a machine in the evenings and your clothes will be removed for you by the next impatient guest if you're not there to guard the machines), tiny workout room (approximately 250 sqft) which is too hot and humid because it's in the same room as the Jacuzzi and steam room. If you're coming to Snowbird, and you have a choice of properties on the mountain, you may want to book a room in one of the other three properties. read more

Even though this hotel could use some updating I was very pleased with my stay here. This place had a rustic feel but it was nice and clean. My husband and I came in for the first week of May. We got 2 spacious rooms: one that we could entertain our friends in with a full kitchen, fire place, dining and sitting area and full bathroom and the other for sleeping. Extremely convenient! The kitchen was fully equipped with full size fridge, oven, dishwasher, pots and pans etc. and served us well for a whole week. The entire staff was extremely nice and helpful. I inquired about a dish soap at the front desk (it was already under the sink in my kitchen, I just missed it) and literally 4 minutes later I got someone at my door with a bottle! That's what I call a customer service! A+++ They were always smiling and you could feel they were there to accommodate you. They made us feel welcomed. Next time we will have to use the many options that this place offers: they had a "Meet and Greet" for the guests, game room, gym, laundry, pool, jacuzzi, restaurant and daily activities for kids... Even check-out was a breeze. It took a whole minute and a half ;) Thank you Iron Blosam!!! We will definitely come back! read more

The Iron Blosam is a time share and we had to move rooms on Saturday night. The room is outdated, wall paper is pealing, the heater was broken and made chimes during the night, and the alarm clock went off every time you turned off the light. The biggest problem was the road noise if the room faced the back mountain. The road is right outside the window and you hear all the car and bus ski traffic. It is difficult to get to the ski slope from there. The 7am coffee was nice, the front desk was helpful, and the bellman great. However, we would never stay there again. read more

Good place except for attention to safety. Management placed a slippery surface in ski room (causing a fall and injury) and has been very slow in fixing this problem. After several days of complaints they finally partially covered slippery surface instead of simply going to SLC and purchasing a mat or rug to entirely cover it. We keep explaining that the slick surface is not visible when returning from bright outside ..... sigh read more

Although we booked 6 weeks in advance we were price gouged, because there were limited rooms left. I'm embarrassed to say we paid $430 a night. First use of the bathroom exposed body hair, dirt and water behind the bathroom door. I used a towel to mop up the mess. The mold spots on the shower ceiling were also disgusting. The balcony and patio furniture hadn't been cleared of snow. Please note this wasn't new snow. It was neglected, crunchy snow with the previous occupants' shoe prints, so it had been there awhile. Lastly, the pillow sham had oil stains on it. Ew! When I asked to speak to the manager in the morning, a supervisor heard my complaints, and said she would pass them along to the manager who would be in later. The manager never contacted us, however the balcony was shoveled while we were skiing. Ironically, the neighbor's balcony remained un-shoveled. Guests should also know the entire hotel shifts rooms on Saturday to accommodate the time share owners. Finding a luggage cart or an empty elevator is impossible. The hotel's Wildflower Restaurant was lack luster. Our server had large runs in both legs of her stockings and was sniffing heavily throughout our overpriced meal. At $200 a night, our stay would have been disappointing. At $400+ a night it was unacceptable. If you can, stay at The Lodge or The Cliff Lodge. We have had positive experiences at both. read more
