This store is the dream for buying designer fabrics in terms of quality, selection, and price. What made the difference for us is how wonderful the staff is. Definitely do your homework before going there in terms dialing in to what you want and pricing it out (you will see you are getting an incredible deal). Also seeing a bolt of a fabric is so much better than swatches. Now swatches just feel like little white lies to me. Worth noting all sales are final here. We drove 2+ hours to go look at fabric for multiple projects. And thanks to Billy we were able to find all the fabric we needed for a wide variety of projects (boat interior, drapes, pillows). In order of importance this is why it can be so helpful to work with their staff members like him: 1. Knowledge of the store. The selection is without a doubt overwhelming. He just had a great way about him to help us navigate and go through as many fabrics as we needed to 2. Design technicality. ensuring we would know how the fabric would behave with the lighting of the location they would be in (even suggested an app for future projects) and just ensuring we got the right sizes for the cuts we were looking for. For 1 project we used 3 different bolts of the same fabric, he made sure the different lengths worked for our project 3. Design advice that was above and beyond a keen eye: from how to pull a room together, to optimizing for constraints lack of natural light or a small space. And guidance on how to make sure you get the best look with certain fabrics (ie you're going have to line your curtains no matter what material for the right volume and draping, etc). Their COVID protocol is GREAT and easy. The space is a large warehouse so it is pretty safe and everyone in their wears a masks. Because this store is such a mecca, we met (2) other shoppers that had driven 2+ hours to go there as well. They definitely thought about that aspect of their business because you don't know how the numbers are in each shoppers location. read more

We plan to reupholster two chairs from my grandmother and the local upholsterer listed Interior Alternative (Fabric Outlet) as a potential location. The selection can make your head spin but we quickly found options we liked. What sold us was the service. When we asked how much extra we should purchase, we were encouraged to minimize to reduce waste and they looked at a photo of one chair to confirm what the upholsterer said we would need. The cutter then noticed imperfections (a bluish look that occasionally appeared on one side of an ivory fabric). More senior employees noted that an upholsterer could often work around it, but they gave us a couple of extra yards for free just to be safe. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the drive. read more

This place is a scam of a business. I ordered 1 yard of suede fabric and their system mistakenly charged me for 2!! I'm paying nearly $100 for 1 ordered yard of fabric. Shop here if you want, but when their hanky system gives you double of what you order, just know that that's what they do. I asked for a refund and they refused. read more

I'm so excited about this discovery! This warehouse store is now my go-to for home dec fabrics. I had been searching high and low for something modern and fun for reupholstering a wing back chair for my toddler's room. After hunting online and through the garment district in NYC, I finally stumbled upon this store after a Google search. The warehouse is huge, very well organized (mostly by color), clean and tidy. The staff seemed pleasant. They carry a ton of Waverly upholstery fabrics and many other top designers. Most of the fabrics that I looked at started at $12.95 p/yard full price. They had a range of $5 p/yard on clearance and a good selection of foam, pillows, etc. Since this is a sale weekend, I got an additional 20% off after joining their mailing list. I picked up a discontinued Jessica Jones for about $10 p/yard, tax free :) The store is located just off of i95 so it's a really easy stop if you're traveling through Delaware. They're also open Sundays. read more

Three months on a special order that was to take one month. Finally got a hold of someone and they said they've been trying to leave messages for weeks. Yeah, you called the wrong number or something. Never got them. They argued this point with me over the phone and talked to me like I was dumb. The consultant I placed the original order with left the company and never finished my project. Don't do it peeps- go Wayfair or something. My family and I just walked out of this store as we were looking for custom made draperies for our bedroom. We wandered around for about 10 minutes and not one of the sales staff on the floor (I counted about three) offered to help us. As I walked through the large warehouse - I had to stop one of the staff to ask her if she worked there and point me to the right area. Terrible experience especially being new to DE. Not sure why they didn't help - what's more unfortunate is the money they lost as we were looking for items for our entire house. In any event, don't expect these folks to help you - totally useless. I can only imagine what would happen if I ordered anything - non-responsive customer service. Will never go back! read more

Interior Alternative is located in a corporate campus / industrial park just off Route 896. It wasn't easy to find at first until I checked the address and realized that it had to be the same building as and a bit down the internal lane from Sky Zone Trampoline Park. This store appears to specialize in fabric that is thicker and broader than what one may find at Jo-Ann, for example. If you need to make curtains, cushion covers, or things like that, I don't think one would find a better store than this in Northern Delaware for price and selection. Especially interesting is the little clearance room at the back of the store. $5/yard is a terrific bargain if you can find what you need among the odds and ends there. Service was really good and the staff was very helpful when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. We found two bolts of fabric that were in the clearance room for only very minor defects and got a very good price on those. read more

Good selection and good prices on overrun and deadstock home dec fabrics. The staff is very helpful, but not intrusive. Since this store gets sewers, designers and makers I imagine the staff don't bother browsers because they know designers don't want to be bothered in the middle of looking at fabrics. One of the reasons I frequent the place. They give you ample sample cuts and prices are well labeled. I'd give them five stars except that there can often be a mystery on the exact fiber content of materials. Not a huge deal, but helpful if you are doing small runs and need your care directions to be accurate. Also the pricing is non-negotiable even on volume purchases, they do have frequent sales that can drop an additional 10-20% of the ticket price. For those looking for the experience of a boutique fabric store they probably want to stick with the usual subjects, where they will pay 3 to 4 times more in yardage price for handholding and pretty displays. This is a no frills shop, with a massive collection, a reasonable pricing for the quality they carry. read more
