I went in to get a ring resized. I could not get my ring off and during the process was told "you have a indent on your finger. Right I said, I've worn the ring for 47 years and it has gotten too small. I would need it resized to this size removing a ring on my right hand. I can't do that without this ring. You have to cut it off! I can't be because your right hand is bigger than your left. Her voice was aggressive, loud and delivered in an extremely rude manner. At this time I shouted I came in here because yes, I knew my ring was small, yes, I wanted to have it enlarged, I also mentioned I could get the ring off with Dawn. "You need to cut it off she shouted again.' I left distraught. Unless you are mentally strong to take abusive behavior and demeanor, I'd suggest you find another jeweler. No one is that good to treat people disrespectfully. read more

We took the day to walk around Blufton and wanted to take a look, but never got to park. The woman came charging out saying it was private property and we had to leave. And it wan't a nice request, she was just a nasty person. After reading the reviews, seems like many have the same opinion. I mentioned our run-in with her to the shops across the street where we started our tour of the area and everyone had the same thing to say... "she's a nasty person". The owners of Bluffton Jewel Box are thoughtful and detailed oriented artists. They are so knowledgeable about jewelry. Their piece are unique. They created a 1 of a kind necklace for me and are not working on a custom ring. I am unsure why others have had such strange experiences/comments. This lady, Barbara, the owner, is out of her mind. She just said I was complicating things and this store is not for me after I called to inquire about the range to adjust the bracelet and if Marek -her husband, apparently - still works there. She was so rude, screaming at me after my simple question, wouldn't let me to say a word, said it's none of my business who works there! At the end of her monologue she said some of the customers just left because she was on a phone with me and hung up! I'm shocked. I really wanted it to work because this person-Marek- was recommended to me and I didn't want to waste an hour of my time to drive there with my bracelet to only find out he's no longer there. 0 stars to a crazy lady, have no idea how they manage to exit with such service. Horrible experience. I went in to get my finger sized and the woman was incredibly rude to me. I smiled and nodded and listened to her rude remarks because I didn't know what else to do. I was excited to find out my ring size as I am in a season of life where engagement is coming soon. She ruined the experience. I took a photo of the size tool on my finger to show my boyfriend the look of the size and she screamed at me "can I have that back? Can I have that back??" It wasn't like I was taking a photo of a Diamond she created...it was a standard sizing tool on my finger. Scary experience and not one I recommend for any woman who is excited to become a bride!!! read more

Happy Anniversary! Just had the weirdest shopping experience of my whole life. We're celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary today and traveled from NE GA mountains to Hilton Head earlier this week for our anniversary trip. Hubby wanted to take me to Captain Woodys for lunch and shopping in Bluffton. Wonderful lunch, great pottery purchases, celebration cigar and then a trip to The Jewel Box to see if anything suited my fancy! Hubby and Tater, our Maltese, stayed in the cool air conditioned car while I popped inside. Not a huge selection for a "Jewel box" but I opted to look around to see if anything suited my fancy. Things seemed normal for about five minutes until the lady "helping" me started going on about finger shape, and how my actual wedding set that I OWN is all Wrong for my shape fingers as it sits too high on my hand. She even grabbed a mirror to show me the deformity presented by my beautiful set as it is positioned on my hand. I refrained from telling her Greg and I designed the monstrosity. Luckily for her, she got me on a good day so rather than reciprocating in rudeness, I finally was able to pull my hand away and interject that I needed to leave because my hubby and dog were in the car waiting on me, but that I would keep one of the rings in mind (albeit however illy suited for my fingers). As I gingerly stepped across the threshold of the exit door, she then proceeded to inform me that I shouldn't bring a carload of people if I was serious about jewelry shopping. Still, I magically remained unruffled at the velocity of her rapid fire insults. Looking at all the other reviews, it would seem this is her thing. I'm still amused. Customer beware! read more

Rudest experience and I didn't even shop there. As someone who has lived in bluffton their entire life and has substantial family history here I never expected to be treated so rudely. My mother used to live in this original foundation that is now known an the Bluffton Jewelry Box (which I'm glad I didn't ask to come inside and have a look...) and we were contacted by a lovely bluffton citizen who found a military dog tag of my great grandfather in his back yard which backs straight up the jewelry box property. We parked in their DESERTED parking-lot to exchange information and retrieve this new found item. The car was parked for maybe 30 minutes. This woman comes out of the jewelry box stating it was private property and we need to leave or she will tow, would not listen to why we were there and had a really nasty attitude, raising her voice at us when we tried to explain why we were there. I would not give this establishment any of your hard earned money as the next time you are there you may get kicked off the property for parking in the wrong place... read more

This place was recommended by an acquaintance. Short story: The woman who answered the phone was rude when I called twice and subsequently when I arrived at the store. She must be on the autism spectrum because I can't understand why she would have spoken to me the way she did. So when she told me that the cost to repair my jewelry ...$400.00 I just decided I was not going to give this woman $400.00 for anything. I ended up taking it to Levy's who did a great job. read more

This was suggested to me by a friend for a jewelry repair. I stopped in last week.. The lady there, believe her name was Katherine, couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. While I waited, she showed me a number of things that caught my eye.. None were inexpensive but all were exquisite.. I asked where they got their jewelry from and they design and make it there. I'm a big fan of less is more, simple and elegant and that describes what they offer.. So glad I stopped in and when I need a more serious piece, they will be my first stop. read more

Recently I lost my gold and diamond wedding ring my wife gave me 39 years ago. I took a picture to The Jewel Box where they handcrafted a near identical replacement ring. The owners, a couple with whom we were already acquainted, were totally friendly and helpful. The craftsmanship is outstanding. If you want to feel depressed, humiliated, belittled, perhaps have a good cry, be worked over by a scowling, beligerant woman, then shop at this store. Yesterday I went to the Jewel Box for several issues including potentially spending some real money. Starting with the phone call to the store to see if it was open I was greeted with open hostility. Granted I was a little confused and overwhelmed by all the choices in the displays and in the catalogue, but the woman(I'm assuming one of the owners) made me feel entirely unwelcome to the point of embarrassing me in front of the other customers.she just didn't want to be bothered with someone who had questions. When she accused me of being suspicious of her when she looked to see what size my ear was for earrings I was flabbergasted and realized that this woman is certifiably crazy. I don't care how good your merch is, this treatment doesn't work for me. read more

I do not know how to say enough how impressed I am by The Jewel Box and how amazed I am that people with their experience and giftedness ended up in Bluffton. I heard about them from an older widow who wanted something made from her husband's wedding band. The owners worked with her and the results are stunning and unlike anything I have ever seen. Everything in their shop is designed and completely crafted by them!! Now, as my mother has just died, I needed some help with some very sentimental things that were hers. I am overwhelmed with the beauty of what they have done, and I felt very respected and understood in the process. They have been designers at some of the most well respected places in New York as well as having their own business there. (My older friend told me that.) The best thing is, I never felt pressured. There were no high pressure sales pitches or words to convince me do a certain thing. They simply laid out their ideas and their creative thoughts, and left it to me. They are not gushy, over the top, pressuring sales people trying to sell you something. They are professional, talented, creative, gifted artisans. I can not recommend them highly enough. read more
