(Dad joke) Olive for this kind of store! (/Dad joke)…read more But seriously, who doesn't love jarred, canned, pickled and fermented goodies packed tightly onto shelves, waiting for a discerning, drooling palate to sidle on by and slide a few into a basket for purchase? Places like this are my weakness, and I usually have to restrain myself immensely on how much I allow myself to buy, or I'll be in serious financial trouble! There's more here than just olives: garlic, sauces, jams and jellies, mustards and other condiments, pickled veggies, vinegars, oils, wine, kitchen goods, cookware and doo-dads, books, apparel, and likely a whole lot more I overlooked, while whittling down my selection to a handful of jars. Apparently I have good taste, as one of the employees remarked that I'd picked his two favorite olives in the entire store. Samples of olives and related products are available, but limited. Employees are very friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. This is the sort of mercantile Mecca you hope, nay, pray to find while shopping in a small town, and the Olive Shoppe does La Conner proud!

Popped in to see what candies they had, ended up purchases four jars of olives!…read more The Olive Shoppe offers a unique experience - olive tasting. The downside is they only allow you to try 4 olives per person. I wish they allowed you to try more olives, if you purchase olives or for an additional charge. I'm sure we would have purchased even more if we could have sampled them all.

Very good coffee. No, excellent coffee. Worth making the trip for…read more Chocolates. All sorts of excellent comestibles. Had a cup of their coffee Friday morning, and it was so good, we returned Saturday morning to enjoy another cup o' Joe. I'm a raven, so finding anything about ravens is exceptional and rare. Lots to look at here. Spent far too much money doing it. What's a raven, you might ask? If you have to ask, the distinction won't make an impression on you. For those that know, they're ravens, too, It's a safeguard thing: Odin made the raven an imparter of wisdom. Anyway... This is a great store! The proprietress is a fascinating individual with whom I loved talking, and if we hadn't had a mandatory obligation 80 miles away at an appointed time, I probably would have spent more time and money (yes!) in the store. It's on my list of places to revisit when we return to La Conner.

On multiple occasions, they have made me feel bad about asking any questions at all about the menu or not ordering quickly enough. They seem put out by serving customers. The last time I was in, I had a question about the size of a beverage, and the woman was not only rude to me, but she proceeded to talk rudely about me behind my back when I was in the bathroom and my friend who was waiting for me overheard at all. I guess they have enough business, because they feel like they can treat customers like crap. The coffee is nowhere near good enough to treat people this way, as well.
