As with others who have used this location, this is about the shady business practices of the establishment, not the chiropractic care, which is irrelevant to this issue. The problem is the apparent continuing and willful misunderstanding of charges and the failure to cancel memberships, even when following explicit directions and filling out forms that are handed directly to us in person. Such forms, relying on the experience of me, my husband, and others who have complained even on Yelp, have a tendency to "get lost" and suddenly there is no record of your cancellation. This company is particularly slippery when it comes to such agreements and is not above telling the customer things that are in direct contradiction to the rules stated on their website in order to keep pulling money from your account. We are out over a thousand dollars and with no service to show for it. If you choose this place do not leave without copies of *everything* in writing, and have a paper trail for every communication. I didn't like the last time i went there! It was a blond woman i never seen before on Monday! She ear our accent so she decided to follow the "protocol" and not be flexible with the client! We paid for 4 visits we have done only 3 so we went there for the 4 visit and she told us that the package was expired! We explained that we come every Monday, for our things, so she didn't want to ear us! She just follow "the protocol" for 2 days was expired the plan btw, and each visit takes less than 2 minutes! I walked in with some serious knee pain from dancing over the weekend at a party for my 99 year young grandmother, "I'm so blessed." Acting as if I was only 9 years old, knowing very well I'd already been having some tension in both knees. Well, coming down on a skip-like plus jump wooble line dance, I felt the shifting in the right knee joint. I played it off at first, left the party in some discomfort, but the worst part of the pain reminded me it was there at 2am ughhh. I tried everything, even watching YouTube videos to no avail. Horrible place: I went inside since it said "walk-in, no appointment necessary", the person at the counter said we would need to wait 20 min and fill out paperwork.... 1 hour later a "doctor" came up and said we needed to wait another 1/2 hour since would have a conversation. We said that we would go next door to Dick's sporting goods and they would call. 45 min. No one called so almost two hours wasted and no service... The doctors and staff have nothing short of amazing customer service here! This was my first experience receiving chiropractic care and am addicted to getting cracked. I always leave feeling so relaxed and loose after being tense and tight sitting at a desk all day. They educate you as to why you feel how you do and send you exercises to do on your own at home. I don't enjoy the viewing gallery waiting area where everyone gets to watch my reclined body being twisted and compressed in a variety of positions. Also, not every practitioner is wiping surfaces well between clients. This is bothersome to this semi-neurotic nurse. So today I woke with tremendous pain in my neck literally where I could not turn my neck.This pain had begun on yesterday but today it was a lot worse. I tried to get an appointment at urgent care but all locations were not taking anymore walk ins so I reached out to The Joint. The receptionist was extremely nice however as I was paying for my services the receptionist notice I was still in pain and walked with a stiff neck. She told me that I should go back and let the doctor try something else. I had already been back there and it seemed like he didnt do to much. He used a clicker, rotated my neck and told me to do some neck exercises and that was it. He suggested I come back Sunday so he can do more but I'm thinking what did he do, I'm still hurting. I left out sat in the car in pain still couldnt twist my neck. I then had to go and locate another doctor to try to give me comfort. I truly now hate that I signed up for the plan because nothing was accomplished. I feel I've thrown out money for no service. read more

I used the service in Nashville for nine months and cancelled my service after leaving, but was requested to visit a chiropractor after breaking a wrist bone this summer so I joined the office in Huntersville near where I currently live... unfortunately the service was not nearly as good as what I experienced in TN... The guy performing the service was not strong enough or knowledgeable to perform the treatments I needed. I also was told my service was cancelled early and was asked to pay for my 5 treatment even tho I had prepaid for two months. Halfway through that treatment they corrected their billing, but they could not credit me, leaving me with an extra service voucher. They assumed me I could use the extra treatment later after my two months... when I tried to use that mistake treatment they informed me I needed to pay an extra 30-40$. I was in such severe pain I couldn't do anything by myself. I could hardly do my own laundry. I found The Joint Birkdale through google and was nervous about seeing a chiropractor since I have not seen one before. I was instantaneously put at ease the moment I stepped into the office by Dr Taknicia taking such a detailed evaluation and really taking the time to listen to all my symptoms and concerns. I was diagnosed with neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome which is were your blood vessels and nerves become compressed between your first fib and clavicle. She was able to help me though soft tissue work, mobility, adjustments, and stretching. Within a month I was able to start work and exercising again which I hadn't been able to do in months. With continued care I have been able to manage the majority of my symptoms on my own thanks to Dr Taknicias care and instruction. She has not only helped with adjustments but with proper posture and proper form when lifting weights. She has given me a great amount of knowledge in the office that helps me day to day outside the office. She truly cares about her patients and is great about squeezing you in if something comes up unexpectedly. With her help my pain has been reduced to non-existent. She is wonderful at what she does and is truly passionate about her care to her patients. I feel like coming across her was a blessing because I really needed help. read more

This review is not in reference to the doctors here. All have been very good and I have received beneficial treatment. The review is in reference to cancelling a membership. I originally joined the joint at a location in Durham when I had a different job. After moving to the Birkdale location for the past year, I realized I wasn't going nearly frequently enough for the membership. The middle of December, I went to the office and cancelled my membership. The woman at the front desk pulled up my account, gave me a form to fill out, and explained the remainder of the membership (I was to be charged once more because the Joint requires a 30 day cancellation notice. I was already aware of this policy as it was explained upon my initial sign-up). She even told me that if I wasn't going to use the membership, I could purchase a 6 visit pass and they would credit the January fee to the pass, thus removing $59 from the total. I thanked her but told her I wasn't interested and I was not surprised when I saw the final $59 charge to my credit card December 28th. However, yesterday I checked my bank account and saw that I was charged again. I called the office asking about this, and they informed me for the first time that cancellation has to be taken care of with the original office and they had apparently not saved the form I filled out because they had no record of it in their system. The Southpoint location has been as helpful as they can in order to issue me a refund, but since this Birkdale location did not save or file the cancellation that I submitted in mid-December, they will not refund me. I don't mind that I had to cancel with Southpoint, however I was never told this was the case, nor was I called if/when they realized they were not able to process the cancellation in Birkdale, thus leaving me thinking all had been processed correctly until I saw the charge yesterday. Again, I have not had any problems with doctors but I would highly advise anyone going here to steer clear of the membership plans since cancellation forms appear to be "lost" and stick with the package deals. read more

Wow, what a horrible experience. So my wife has been having neck pain for a little while and we tried doing some things at home to help and went to her primary care physician with no results. I had seen the sign for the initial consultation so we thought we should give it a try. Well if you like being talked down to or made to feel like you don't know how to take care of yourself this is your place. Most physicians I've been to in the past have talked to me in an educating manner. The lovely doctor we saw today talked as if this should all be basic knowledge. Well if it was just that simple you'd be out of a job!!!! Also, why the hell do you feel the need to get nasty when we tell you our schedule doesn't work with the 2 times you gave us within the next 48 hours. Yes, my wife hurts, but she ain't dying. The adjustment I had today at this location was the best I have ever had anywhere. I usually just pop into the joint when I'm traveling and unable to go to my regular chiropractor. I wish that I didn't live 2,500 miles away from this location because I would go all of time. The doctor asked me a lot of questions before hand to fully understand what I needed. The service was reasonably good although this drive through chiropractor should not be confused with a full service chiropractor (my experience and opinion) that is able to provide comprehensive on site services. Be extremely cautious when initiating services. Staff did not verbally disclose to me that my debit account would be drafted automatically and I asked them specifically about this as I typically do not do business with any establishment that requires or promotes an automatic draft. I recall being told that our arrangement would be month to month and there would not be any type of ongoing arrangement or commitment and that I could pay $59.00 each time I wanted to purchase another 4 sessions over a 30 day period. I completed this exact arrangement during 2 months and then switched to a local chiropractor that provided the comprehensive services that I needed at that time. I did not step foot in The Joint for 5 months. I was unaware that they were drafting $59.00 per month from my checking account primarily because they identify themselves as Queen City Chiropractic when drafting your account. My wife handles our finances and understood that I was receiving chiropractic services so she assumed that the charges were legitimate. I had no idea that Queen City Chiropractic and The Joint were were same company or affiliated and recall seeing nothing to identify this arrangement while at The Joint. I contacted the manager and explained the situation and he refused any form of reimbursement indicating that I had signed a contract. The attachment that goes with the contract is very lengthy and legalistic--I doubt that anyone reads the entire document and if so, most people would not understand it. Their own website indicates "month to month" at the 59.00 rate and when I questioned this I recall being told by The Joint staff that this meant that I would be able to decide each month whether or not I wanted to purchase another month. It seems that this was a misunderstanding on my park and misleading on their part. I expected that the manger would react in a business manner that demonstrated ethics and principles. In my opinion this did not occur. It was more about the legality of a document and their ability to retain drafted money in the absence of any tangible goods or services for an extended period of time. They had information to support that I did not realize that I was being drafted monthly because the second month that I paid for 30 days of service (two months after I signed their lengthy agreement) I paid in the store, in person approximately 5 days after they automatically drafted my account and they provided A receipt but did not complete the transaction with my bank, presumably because they recognized that I was being drafted monthly and had already paid via draft for the month. They should have understood at that point that I was unaware of any agreement for an automatic draft. Although not obligated to contact me I believe that this would have been the right thing to do. I view it as shameful that a business is so much about making a profit that they are unwilling to acknowledge logic and fairness. It is also extremely misleading when a company is promoted and recognized as The Joint but when drafting an account they use a completely different name. read more

The joint chiropractic has brought relief to me after years of suffering. My chiropractor of choose Dr Benjamin Rhoades know the body. I've seen many chiropractors and he is the best. By far the most adaptive approach I've ever had in an adjustment. The only downside to the joint's any chiropractor approach is they can't all be Rhoades. Awful customer service. I would give 0 stars if it let me. So, I called in for a first time appointment and they told me to be there by 6:30. I arrive at 6:29 and the lady at the desk tells me that they don't take walk ins past 6:30 even though it wasn't even 6:30 yet. I explained that I had already called in and she further insisted that they don't take walk ins past 6:30 (it just now turns 6:30 at this point) I further explained that I drove 30 minutes to get to this location and I purposely called in to prevent a situation such as this. Instead of understanding or even listening to what I'm saying she tells me they don't do walk ins past 6:30. Like she already hasn't said it two times already. Once again, I WAS THERE AT 6:29.... At this point I'm shocked by the lack of consideration from this lady, and I just further explain my disappointment. She tells me that she can set me up for an appointment in the morning. She explains that a new customer takes usually 30-40 minutes to get the appointment done with all the paper work. (There was only one customer in the office getting an adjustment, and they don't close for another hour and a half) This is when the only customer in the office says, "If I was him, I'd be mad. And there's no way I'd ever come back." I agreed and at this point I told her that this type of service isn't acceptable, and left in disappointment. It looked like a really nice place and I was looking forward to doing business with them. I'll take my money elsewhere. Never experienced such bad service in my life! read more

I can't say enough good things about this group of providers and their excellent care. Everyone from the front desk staff to the 3 chiropractors have been terrific for my family. My initial visit was maybe 30 mins or so, but they had a full house. Given its a walk in facility, I didn't have an issue waiting. Every time my wife and I have gone in for an adjustment, each staff member has been pleasant and helpful. The care is very good. Having worked for several chiropractors over the past 15 years and been a chiro patient over 30 years, we love this place. We've had a problem with our HSA reimbursements and this office has bent over backwards to provide us with the necessary documentation needed for reimbursments. Fantastic people. read more
