A-OK: - Nachos with cheese and venison chili. Could have used more chili, and I couldn't tell it was venison. But what the hell do I know - I don't get to sample Bambi on a regular basis here in VA. Definitely could have used more salsa. Heaping pile of nachos, and one thimble sized cup. - The waffle fries. Wish I could have just eaten these with the chili. - The draft ale. I have no idea what I was drinking. It was dark, fermented and didn't taste like Coors. Good nuff. Not A-OK: - The classic cheeseburger. My usual go to bar food, under the supposition that it is pretty damn hard to screw up a burger. Ding! I suspect it was frozen, as the taste was just off. 3 stars for food, 5 for service. Here's my story! We spent the whole day snowboarding and ended it with a full night session at Silver Creek (9pm). We were starving by the time we got back to our condo and started to look for food options. After finding out that our first few options also closed at 9pm, we decided on convenience store frozen/canned food. By the time we got there, there were deer in the parking lot, a man being given a sobriety test, and the front doors were locked. It had closed just 10min before we got there. So then we headed to the village and decided to try out Foxfire Grill because the restaurant guide said they closed at 11pm, When we walked in at 10:20, they turned us away saying that they weren't accepting new customers. WTF! It's Saturday night! Why can't we find food?! We were beginning to think our dinner would consist of m&ms and chips from the condo vending machines. Before admitting defeat tho, we went to The Junction. When we got in they told us that the kitchen had closed, but we could still get bar food. But after seeing our sad faces, the chef said, "just let them eat, but no more after them.". We were saved!! I got a bowl of the venison chili and a Junction burger. The price wasn't too bad considering other village options were $30 pizza and $18 kung pao chicken. Both the chili ($7 for a bowl) and burger ($11) were satisfying for our starving selves and our waiter was THE BEST. This place is nicely decorated BUT this place takes advantage of the lack of options and internet service and serves up some of the lowest quality/ highest priced food I have ever had, anywhere. Service was friendly and attentive but your service is best left in the hands of an establishment who actually has an ounce of pride in the food they serve. This place was our last option for dinner on our last night in town. We went from reservations at Stash (new sushi place) be warned though, if you call Stash they have two parts. One part, that serves sushi does NOT take reservations. The other part does - they do not offer sushi on this side - only $30+ steaks etc. They are not accommodating and tons of people including us were pretty pissy. So our last options were Catina and Junction. Since our group was 6 people we went to Junction because of the broader options instead of just Mexican... we've been eating too much mac n cheese all weekend anyways. This place was sooooo cute inside. Exactly what you would want at a resort restaurant. That was short lived - we were quickly sat by a VERY drafty window. UGH. Food takes a bit to come out but that's okay. Prices were fair too. The menu was extensive enough to satisfy us all. Our dishes ranged from roasted chicken, blackened chicken salad, glazed orange chicken, burgers to chicken sammies. Everyone was pretty happy. The only thing that REALLY sucked was that my meal got cold really quick because I was sitting near two windows. One to my side and one to my back and I also had to eat wearing my jacket and another one over my lap. Not fun. Had we had better seats I think I would have thrown in another star. I'll be back this season for sure. This place has been here the longest so that's gotta say something about their food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience at the Junction. the food was very good, the service was fun and energetic and the drinks were great. Our server took the time to help us select fun beers to match our foods, as well as suggesting drinks that helped sooth the muscles post skiing. There are limited choices in The Village and I think the restaurants realize that simple fact. Staff was nice but overwhelmed. Ordered two sandwiches which came out at room temperature at best. Seemed like it had been microwaved a couple of times (rubbery chicken) but still not even a little warm. Ordered a "hot" waffle with "hot" apples and ice cream. Waffle was probably left over from the morning and again served at room temperature. Took a couple of bites and that was enough. Ice cream didn't melt over the next 15 minutes while we waited for our check. Although the staff at check-in highly recommended this restaurant, I would rather have bought some groceries and prepared something in our room. We gave them our cards to pay the bill and the waitress literally left the building with them and it took more than 30 minutes to track her down. We got no apology or explanation from her, just excuses about how splitting a check takes a long time. (REALLY?) A discount, or even a heart felt apology would've been nice. PS. It got one star because I couldn't give it less. I came for breakfast. I ordered the scrambled eggs, hash browns, white toast and bacon. I was only able to eat the paper thin tasteless bacon because it had no flavor and the soft buttered bread that was supposed to be toast. The eggs and the hash browns were inedible. I can't even describe the terrible flavor. I should've know it was going to be bad when two tables got up and left around me before I saw a waitress because they hadn't been seen yet. I will say the waitress that waited on me was very friendly and concerned that my food was so terrible. I would give her 4 star. But the restaurant its self deserves zero. Stay away. I know the options are very very limited. But go buy some bread and pb&j. You will be much happier. read more

How do you forget to warm up the chili before brining it to the table? It happened. The other food came out fine. We had the hot wings, they were good. Hamburger was decent. This place has the best bar tender ever! David made the best drinks based on our likes was a great fun to talk to. The food receives mixed reviews. We had the shay burger and loaded fries which were good. For dessert, we had the apple pie and the cheesecake which were very good. Don't even bother with the Mac and cheese and brisket, nor the salmon sandwich. They are mediocre at best. The craziest thing is that all the restaurants in Snowshoe close at 10 pm. This means that if they are close to closing time, they will take your entire order including your dessert all at once before the kitchen closes. But wait... they bring EVERYTHING out at once as well. Including the desserts, which by the end, will have a soup of melted ice cream on top. Recommendations to the restaurant: the kitchens should stay open at least 30 after the closing time. This will provide guests time to even think about what to order. And time to eat without feeling like an intruder. For the guests, be there by 9 pm. the latest to not feel rushed. Staff was great, it's not their fault, they are simply complying with management protocols. read more

We have been coming to the junction for at least eight years and they always do a great job! This is our first trip during Covid and have to say they are doing a fantastic job. We have not eaten inside many places in the last year and they do a great job that distancing, cleaning and making you feel comfortable. The food...we ordered mozzarella sticks, fried green tomatoes, side salad with ranch and a bacon cheeseburger. The sticks were pretty standard and the green toms were ok but I didn't like the batter they used it was way to thick, the burger i will say was awesome!! The service...we tried to sit at a little table right in the bar area and the bartender was a little rude when we asked if this was her table she said that she wasn't gonna come out from behind the bar in rude tone so we ended up having to sit at the bar and she was still a little cold, it wasn't crowed or anything there about 7 people at the bar and none at the outside tables and the dining room only had about 4 tables. Maybe she was just having a bad night...it happens. The prices were a little high especially with the drinks, I knew they would be a little higher we are at a ski resort but for a double vodka and cran. it was $16 a drink...were not in Miami or anything. read more

We walked in at 10:35 for breakfast (or lunch). We asked if they were still serving breakfast and FOUR people were confused of the answer. The final answer came from the manager that they have switched over to lunch. OK then. We'll take lunch. The next response was we're not serving any food for another 30 minutes. We spent three days at Snow Shoe during the Christmas Season. On our last day of skiing, we discovered The Junction. With eight of us, we had an array of lunch dishes from salads to the Junction burger. The food was excellent. Our server Kendal was friendly and efficient. We will come again. Great JOB! read more

Great experience the second time around; we came upstairs to snowshoe last year and ate at the junction only once.. last year the food and table service was sub par we actually had gotten seated at a table bc the bar was busy waited 15mins never got greeted so saw two spots open at the bar and popped up there and the bartender was really great but the food wasn't. This year however different story we went straight to the bar; friendly greeting by both bartenders Kayla took care of us mostly she was superb friendly funny and attentive and for our food which didn't take long to come out even with a full restaurant was delicious I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly by bf said his food was good as well. Worst food I've had in a while. Food was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Really should be named Junktion. My other ordered a filet mignon that had to be the worst piece of meat this side of the Mississippi. I almost made it halfway through my burger before I pushed it to the side. I'd eat my fingernails before I ate here again. I never leave reviews but I wanted to help someone else not waste $34 on a filet or dissapoint someone's wife/girlfriend. Atmosphere: 4/5, Brightly lit which is good for breakfast. Rustic wood decor works well for the cabin/mountain feel. Good size dining room with ample space between tables. Service: 4/5, We ate here twice during the weekend we stayed here. The second time we were served by Cole. He went the extra mile by pulling the chair out for my wife and rearranging the table based on how we wanted to sit at the table. Our drinks never ran dry and he was very attentive to requests. Menu: 4/5, There are ample options on the menu and most come with a side of fresh fruit. I had the biscuits and gravy on our first visit. The portions were good and ratio of biscuit to gravy was great. The second visit I had the Denver Ommlet. It was great! My only concern with the menu (and with most restaurants in Snowshoe) is that most items are over priced. Captive audience and convenience charges at their best! Overall: 4/5, We love breakfast and the Junction does a good job! We will return here for breakfast on our next trip and likely bring any guests with us. This place is great for families. read more

Am I being punked? $34 for a 1 inch thin piece of meat..actually 2 pieces of that 1 inch thin meat on top of some mashed potatoes from a box and some vegetables that were scattered on the plate as if they were leftovers from someone else's plate and then served to me. Had a great dinner last night. Service was great. I had the special for the evening. Half rack of ribs fry's and coleslaw. Ribs were cooked perfectly. Fall off the bone moist with lots of flavor. I also had a local IPA that paired perfectly with the ribs. My wife had the pulled pork Mac and cheese. She could not stop talking about how good it was. She also had a cocktail that she enjoyed. My son had the chicken and fry's and he said they were good. He is a picky eater so we were happy he enjoyed them and ate them all. We have gone to the Junction multiple times- we used to love getting their fried goat cheese and duck stew. This time we went the whole menu has changed, our favorite items are no longer available. Our appetizer came out after our entrees, only after reminding the server we never got our appetizer. The BBQ sandwich was edible, but lacked flavor and sauce. The grilled chicken sandwich came out cold and the bun was stale. I would not recommend going there based on past reviews, only look at newer reviews since the menu changed sometime between the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 ski seasons. read more

Only place I've ever felt I needed to give a bad review on. Literally just nothing good to report. Food was $45 for two meals, 30-45 minute wait (keep in mind it was takeout only), burger was alright but obviously a frozen patty and the egg was missing but I'm not one to be super picky. I didn't grab the itemized customer receipt but my girlfriend did and they charged her $6 gratuity and were bold enough to leave a space to add a tip... for takeout... I was dumb enough to not look at reviews before eating here, but the cheapest burger being $17 should've been a red flag. read more

Okay this is going to be a long one. Was really disappointing. When we came to order carry out, the front door said to scan the QR code and order online rather than come inside due to covid. That was fine, we placed our order and it said that it would be ready in about 20 minutes so we got drinks on the patio. The atmosphere was really enjoyable. When it said my meal was supposed to be ready, I went in and they said it was not. The manager then reprimanded me for ordering online and said that the ordering system was not working well and I should have come in or called to place the order. This was frustrating because I was just following the sign they had on their door. He told me to come back in 20 minutes. I did this and it was not ready. We repeated this cycle for over an hour. I was honestly okay with it cause we were enjoying ourselves on the patio but after about an hour and a half, the manger offered to comp the meal which was really nice. We eventually got our food and it was good. I made sure to ask how I would be refunded and he told me he had done it in the system. Well that was December 12th and it is now January 15th and I have still not been refunded. I have called the restaurant about once a week since then and (when I was able to get ahold of someone because it half the time went straight to a voice message saying they were closed for the summer season) I was able to speak to a manger who said they would follow up and call me the next day. Well I never got a call. I called again today and I spoke to someone who was really confrontational when I tried to explain the situation. He said "you are calling the wrong place, you need to call 1000, goodbye". I was like well I need an actual phone number because I am no longer at the resort. He said I was being rude and then hung up on me. I swear I am not a Karen, I am just really disappointed with this whole situation. It was an expensive meal and it was THEM who offered to refund it. The service is really good, the food is yummy and warm for the soul, now if you take in count that the staff is short, ergo the waiting for the table etc is something to be expected but you can also get in and be sited right away. The first time me and my family of 6 had to wait 15 minutes at 8pm on JAN 2, no problem, today we were sited right away. The staff was extremely kind and had knowledge of ID laws (tourist friendly) all our entres and main dishes were brought on time and tasted wonderful. Would definitely come back. read more

Where do I begin? We visited here twice while in Snowshoe. The first time was for lunch. Chicken sandwich, burger, and a chicken pesto bowl. I asked for no mushrooms, but there they were. The meal was mediocre at best. Let's talk about breakfast the next morning. I got the biscuits and gravy. Gravy didn't have much flavor. Friend got The Conductor. She asked for "crispy bacon". She received limp, raw bacon. Also side note: the waiter was visibly annoyed she asked for this. This friend also had been here on a separate trip and ordered the same thing (with the bacon still as limp) and had received two full slices of bread. This time, she only received one slice. Shouldn't consistency be important with restaurants? The waiter didn't check in on us once (probably because he knew he'd be asked to take back the bacon) and we all sat with empty water glasses. For a travel spot for people around the world, you'd thing the food would be spot on. read more

Blueberries were not fresh. I got the yogurt with "berries" and my sister and dad each got the french toast with "berries". The "berries" were literally just blueberries and we all agreed that they did not taste fresh. My sister said they tasted like thawed frozen berries. They took my yogurt from okay to bad. The menu also said my breakfast was greek yogurt and honey. There's a good chance I'm wrong, but I eat yogurt A LOT and it tasted like normal vanilla yogurt, which might not be a big deal for some people but it kind of was for me. I also never liked the combo of melon & yogurt and this restaurant didn't make me change my mind. The dried fruit was also really hard to chew. The only part I really liked was the housemade granola, and there was not nearly enough of it. If I were to order the yogurt again, I would ask for no fruit and extra granola. When we went in and sat down at a table (almost all were open), a man, who was apparently the host/ bus boy, came up and said "who are you here with?" as if to suggest that we should not be there. He explained that "you didn't ask me when you came in and walked right passed me." I've never been talked to so rudely at a restaurant and he made us feel anything but welcome. When we asked him for ketchup, he said "that's not my job - ask your server." The food with mediocre - it was fine for a ski lunch. But we wouldn't return because of the poor service. read more

Good bar food. The bbq sandwich was great. Lots of interesting beers on tap. Friendly service especailly Helen Gordon a long-time local whose father was instrumental in builidng Snowshoe in 1976. She is full of fun and has lots of cool stories. bbq & beer and tip about $22. I'd go back but there's tons of places here to check out so I may not make it this time. read more
