Epic fun! We stayed at the Sandman Suites and found this amazing gem next door. Positive atmosphere, LESBIAN LOVE, TRANS POWER and plain old good times! His is a MUST if you are in Vancouver. The staff are attentive, accommodating and professional; nothing bad to say about this spot! What a blast and YES, we will be back! # Safety and Security are important, and Josh and the bouncers were did not skip a beat! They were amazing.

Drinks are too expensive. I tried to find ONE thing on the menu which could be fresh, and I COULD NOT FIND ONE THING. Pretty sure it's all Costco and nuked or fried. I actually told the manager about Yelp and told him to look at it regularly and take it to heart, as this is what the customer REALLY feels about the business. Are you reading now?

Awful awful awful. Avoid at all costs. Go buy the food at Costco, and the staff is awful. Terrible addition to a great Davie St.

The drag show was good, drinks were reasonable, and the bartenders were friendly.

The Cobalt is the lowest common denominator of bars in Vancouver, but it manages to take a certain pride in the dilapidated scenario. Typically full of punkish-goth kids, it serves extremely cheap beer and highballs, has ample seating and room for mosh pits, and comes off as unpretentious, in a "too good for good" sort of way. Many loud bands are given their first opportunity here, and many of the better ones return after achieving success for nostalgia's sake. Things can get out of hand, as conventional wisdom tends to get left behind in coat check, and obnoxious teenage drunks start doing whatever they want. I've even seen a band shoot whiskey filled super soakers out into the audience. This is actually the only place I ever did cocaine, taking it for the only time on one of the musty old cars parked out back. I had always envisioned doing blow with nice clothes, beautiful women, a mirror, and a rolled up hundred dollar bill, but the Cobalt was so exactly opposite that it seemed perfect.

The long wooden bar dominated the space but was filled with an excellent variety of craft brew from all over Vancouver and BC. I really enjoyed the range of craft beer options, some included: Steel & Oak, Powell St., 33 Acres, Strange Fellows, Four Winds, and many more! There was also a great cocktail list that is keeping pace with craft cocktail explosion, particularly in Gastown/Chinatown. In this instance we got some cocktails "whipped up". Be careful what you wish for, in the best possible way. As the night went on it became a much more social some as people began to gather around the bar and fill up the space giving it a buzzing feeling. The bar staff were awesome! At tentative and accommodating. Will definitely go back. Ps there is a good truck outside so, when you need a snack...

It's cozy, stylish, and the drinks are crafted with serious skill. We tried their This or That summer cocktail feature (running until August 31), along with the Lost Luggage cocktail. For food, we had the featured sandwich (beef patty, truffle dijonnaise, smoked gouda, red wine mushrooms, pickled onion, and arugula) plus the classic bacon cheeseburger (stacked with bacon, cheese, pickles, lettuce, and Hundy sauce). This was fine with us since the goal was to have a couple of drinks and stuff ourselves with some burgers and fries from Hundy (the burger joint we needed to go through to get to Stock Room). I started with the dangerous liaison cocktail (beefeater gin, peach, lemon, sugar, butterfly pea flower). This was a solid drink, refreshing and hit the spot. My second drink was spreadsheet (beefeater, st. germain, lime, strawberry syrup, green strawberry bitters). I enjoyed this drink better as it wasn't too sweet and the flavor profile was more to my taste when it comes to cocktails. I'm happy to have found another bar to add to my list of places to grab a good drink in Vancouver.
