BJJ can be a daunting and intimidating sport to do in the beginning. Luis and the team are completely disarming when it comes to the intimidating factor. I felt welcomed immediately by everyone. It is a friendly, family-oriented school. It's like being a part of a great community. 2. Luis is an awesome coach. He is always present during the technique periods of the class. He always gives quick and effective feedback that you can apply immediately. Luis and the coaches have infinite patience when it comes to completely understanding a move. They will keep working with you over and over until you get it - and not move on if you don't. 3. We always work very hard but have a great time. Jiu-jitsu is an intense sport that people can take very seriously, which I can understand. When we roll, we always have a great time. Every class I work hard, but always get a laugh in somewhere. Everyone always has a smile. That is hard to beat. Thank you to the IMA team for creating a great atmosphere!

American Concepts varies the instructors throughout the week, which allows the students to choose the teaching style that best fits their personality. Does your kid learn best through learning and practicing combinations, kata, and forms? Or would they rather learn through sparring? Whatever the kid's learning style, the instructors keep the students upbeat and the classes safe. The master instructor, Phil Pritchard, is an amazing person to work under. From a technical point of view he's extremely knowledgeable and is able to draw from multiple disciplines. When he's working with his students, he's flexible and able to alter the techniques to accommodate a student who's having troubles with a particular lesson. Just as important, Phil is simple a "good guy". The type of person you want helping to mold your kid.

My decision to joining Master Tewfik and GMAS Karate has been one of the best decisions of my life…read more I was becoming bored with my normal fitness routine of going to the gym, running on the treadmill, lifting free weights, etc., I wanted to improve my fitness regimen with something more exciting and where I could learn a new life skill. Learning how to defend myself or how to respond to a situation where I need to defend my family seemed like an important skill to have, so I decided to join Master Tewfik's Muay Thai classes three times per week. He also teaches Karate. The classes are exactly how I hoped they would be. Between the incredible stretching techniques he teaches you (which I never would have tried on my own!), the patience and discipline to assess the environment and respond proactively or reactively with defense or offense, the intense fat-burning cardio you get from the various kicking and punching exercises with heavy bags and weights, and the camaraderie I have with my fellow Muay Thai members due to our common dedication to the art, I couldn't imagine not having Master Tewfik's Muay Thai class part of my weekly fitness regimen. Not only am I getting in incredible shape, but I am also learning some key life skills on how to defend myself and asses challenging situations. You get the best of both worlds...fitness and life skills! I am attaching a text thread that I had with the owner of the studio Bobby. I found him completely professional and insulting. If you like people like that you will love this guy. He has a business practice not to provide prices over the phone, you have to come into the studio. Ok totally fine, even though I explained that I needed it in order to budget and that coming in just for that info was inconvenient. He proceeded to tell me that if that was too inconvenient then it would probably be too inconvenient for me to take my child there 2 or 3 times a week. No - sorry sir, I am business owner and single parent who needs to manage my time and money wisely. If I went to every studio that I was interested in I would never have time to make a commitment. He then compared himself to jewelery stores and car dealerships... Which we all know, everyone hates dealing with these 2 types of businesses due to their shady business practices - though now a days - car dealerships have caught on and have their prices plastered all over their website... For what reason? Oh, to attract customers! Then knocked the name of a VERY reputable martial arts studio which has been in business for over 30 years! Take a look at this thread and then tell me if you want your child training under someone who is so combative, unprofessional and plain rude. He is the type of person I am trying to protect my child from. I mean he mocked the name of another studio to make his studio look better?! Who does that?! Then when I told him that this was going to be posted on Yelp and Google, he said people like me love to do that... No sir, I do not love to do that... If you look at another reviewer they also mention that he has shady business practices and would not honor the Groupon's that he has already sold! It's sad, I see he is a good instructor but integrity is everything. Also, isn't humility a characteristic that martial arts is supposed to teach? How can one learn humility from someone like this?
