I didn't want to do this but the general manager at Title Boxing Club Marlborough, Krista, left me…read moreno choice. I had recently stopped going to this gym for a multitude of reasons. Firstly the pricing was too high, about $100 for an hour of 1:1 training. And I had exhausted all efforts to work out a pricing that was manageable for me. Initially I was met with what seemed like hospitality and willingness to work something out, instead I was proposed to pay $1020 up front from Krista and that would equate to $10 off. I couldn't do that and sucked it up and continued to pay for 4 packs which cost $380 ($95 per 1 hour sessions). I tried to ask for a 3 pack but she said only first timers were given 3 packs, which turned out to be a lie because other clients were scheduling 3 packs and had been going there the same amount of time I had. Another major factor in my decision to leave was I outgrew the service offered at this club. The only reason I went to begin with is because they were the only "boxing gym" open at 6am. I put "boxing gym" because it's not an actual boxing gym that trains fighters. It's a "no full contact boxing gym" in other word's, no sparring. It's a club for fitness enthusiasts. Which wasn't what I was looking for. But I was informed that a professional boxer, Lucky would be starting the day I start and she said he could work mitts with me, so naturally I was intrigued. I didn't want to be trained by any fitness instructor, I wanted to be trained by a boxer with ring experience. Lucky was the only reason I continued to train at Title Marlborough for as long as I did. (end of August- January 8th) ever since we started I requested for the ring to be fixed because the canvas or tarp like material of the ring had been damaged and caused me to trip many times, which Im sure has been left unfixed. And the speed bag became undone and the screw holding it in place flew right at my face, which I do have caught on camera. I never ever once complained to anyone about the gym or how Krista treated me until it became apparent that she had been mistreating my coach Lucky as well. He informed me that he didn't know how much longer he could train me because he wasn't being paid, and I was under the impression that all the money I had been giving to this place was split with him. I simply asked for an explanation so I could decide whether I would return to this gym or not and Krista told me via email it was unprofessional of him to share that info with me and that she wouldn't speak in writing about this matter any further. Keep in mind Lucky and I had been working for a solid 3-4 months at this point. We became more than coach and trainee, we became friends. She made it seem like it was his fault for not getting paid. The only explanation I could come up for this was she is extremely unprofessional and I refused to go back until he was paid. (he ended up getting paid for the months he wasn't) That was the beginning of the end for me at Title Marlborough, each time I had returned Krista would give me and Lucky a hard time. Either denying us entry to training because of it was a holiday or saying we needed to schedule 3 days in advance or some other BS. It just got to the point where I was paying hundreds of dollars for dealing with constant hindrance's. I wasn't being built up as a fighter to compete, I was constantly given a hard time etc. so I decided to continue my training elsewhere since January 8th which brings me to today. January 31st, I check my phone and see that Krista leaves me a surprise on my personal instagram page out of the blue after nearly a month of zero contact. Confirming that she is indeed extremely unprofessional and rude. The post she commented on telling me to delete because I don't go there was from December 2nd which was when I was going there? But who in their right mind would actually listen to a nobody telling you to delete your personal posts? Not me. Never going back. Good riddance, just wanted to make it apparent that Krista is unhinged, unprofessional and unfit for her job. There is even more to be said but I'll save that for the owner if they decide to contact me.

TLDR: it works! Try it!…read more CrossFit saved my life. I was in the midst of a divorce and had lost 50 pounds due to stress. I worked from a desk, and was a couch potato at night that couldn't bench press my own body weight. I was on sleeping pills, anti-depressants and was not eating. Mike encouraged me to stop by and try a class. So I did! It was a small class. I think there were 3 of us, and I had brought a friend! Brian was the instructor. He had a quiet, calm voice. He asked to look at my gait, and what sports I'd played, while he probably sized up how hard he could push me. :) I remember being a little sore after class that day but I came back. And it was after one of those first week's classes that I remember driving home happy! I was staying with friends and I burst into the kitchen smiling from ear to ear as they were getting ready for the day. Endorphins! And I was hooked. I had been a member of many gyms. Mostly for less than a year. The habit never stuck. Gyms don't give personalized instruction every day, nor do the members cheer you on and congratulate you after a workout. Gyms don't have a long term plan or program. Mike does! This sh*t works. I gained the 50 lbs back. I lifted 400 lbs. I did a muscle up! My advice to you is to try it. Pay for a month. If you like it, you will wonder why you didn't go sooner. If you don't like it, you might like the people and coaches and make some friends.

When it comes to choosing, the opinion of someone you know tends to be the best way to go. I cannot say enough good things about the experience we have had with Crossfit Prototype/ Prototype Kids. The entire Team here is amazing. They are knowledgeable and careful. They know how to motivate and how to engage children of any age, and the best part, they tire out the child in a single session. The options are simple, pay for unlimited classes or go the punch card route. At the end of the day, it costs no more than most kids activities. If you haven't done it yet, check out their Facebook Page and website. Better yet, bring your child there for a class, they give the first one for free. So no harm, no foul if they find it isn't for them.

BJJ can be a daunting and intimidating sport to do in the beginning. Luis and the team are completely disarming when it comes to the intimidating factor. I felt welcomed immediately by everyone. It is a friendly, family-oriented school. It's like being a part of a great community. 2. Luis is an awesome coach. He is always present during the technique periods of the class. He always gives quick and effective feedback that you can apply immediately. Luis and the coaches have infinite patience when it comes to completely understanding a move. They will keep working with you over and over until you get it - and not move on if you don't. 3. We always work very hard but have a great time. Jiu-jitsu is an intense sport that people can take very seriously, which I can understand. When we roll, we always have a great time. Every class I work hard, but always get a laugh in somewhere. Everyone always has a smile. That is hard to beat. Thank you to the IMA team for creating a great atmosphere!
