I have a sick family member and I'm working from home. Why must we hear music from the top floor of our house that is an entire 2 blocks away? It is very frustrating and upsetting. You could still have a good venue without blasting music and killing people's hearing. read more

This place has character! I came here one afternoon with a friend who lives in the neighborhood, and I immediately fell in love with the interior. Apparently the owner has been collecting all of the bar's antiques since she was a little girl. The staff were really friendly and welcoming as were the few people who were at the bar with us. I was here for literally 15 minutes, once, and I already want to go back and bring everyone I know. The inside of this place is like the haunted mansion of my dreams. Everything is sparkly and intriguing yet old and classy AF. Our bartender was a doll, and the orange martini she handed me for $10 was on point. I'd love to come back here! This place is decorated really cool. Never boring. They even have a motorcycle inside. I wonder if it still runs? The bartender was cool and approachable. Graffiti in the bathroom is cool. Backyard would be good on a summer night, but inside is more entertaining. They have live music on the weekends. read more

The three stars are for decor! What a wonderful feast for the eyes and plenty of conversation starters. If I were to rate the quality of drinks, it would be in the minus! The well drinks were terrible, tasteless and alcoholess. I got a whiskey sour which stated in the bitter and watery end. Figured, everyone makes a bad drink once in a while (me included) so gave it another try and ordered a gin and tonic. It barely resembeled a gin and tonic, and again it was watered down. A bit of a dissapointment. If the drinks would be anything like the decor, they would be great. Will not be coming back here for a cocktail. My friends had beers, which they enjoyed. read more

Came here briefly on a Wednesday night (it was snowing outside but surprisingly full) and was pleasantly surprised. The Keep is a quaint, antique decorated, Victorian bar with live music and a very romantic vibe. Perfect for a date with drinks and music. Wednesdays and Sundays they have a live band that plays gypsy jazz, a genre of music I never knew about and now love. Think Michael Buble vibes if he were French. The lighting is low and there's plenty of seating to watch the show. I can't wait to go back on Sunday and experience this place again. Forewarning though: it is cash only and I was told by a friend who's been a few times that the atm takes 10% of the money you take out however it goes to charity (meals on wheels I believe). read more

Since The Keep is only a block away from my apartment and has such a laidback atmosphere, it tends to be my go-to on nights where I just want to kick it with a good cocktail and a friend or two. Reminiscent of your grandmother's attic in the best way -- it's brimming with antique decor that'll keep your eyes entertained for days. Some nights they have a live band or a DJ playing old school hiphop, techno or 80s jams. I can dig the music. Overall a great local spot, I recommend it. read more

Such a wonderful time here last Friday night! I got together with a small group of friends, and we wanted to check out a new place. One of my friends suggested The Keep mainly because it looks a little like a haunted house inside. There are antiques all over the place and there's A LOT to look at, the vibe is really chill and I love the decor. The fancy drinks are awesome, and I literally can't say enough great things about our bartender Lauren. She was sweet, professional, chatty and made us some great drinks! I have really wanted to visit this bar ever since I saw the photos of the bar's interior. It really is stunningly filled with cool furniture, backgammon tables, and old relics. While I was informed that they haven't officially open as of yet (they will eventually have bar food offerings), it already has a great feel about it. One thing I really liked about The Keep was how much seating they offer and how open it feels inside. While the walls are cluttered in all the right ways, the walkways are not. They were having a $5 hot tody deal, which is perfect for this cold weather. It's just a two block walk from the Jefferson L stop, and surprisingly, this bar is in Ridgewood, Queens, not Bushwick. Holy crap, want to talk about a good neighborhood bar? Not even neighborhood, like the entire city of NY bar. It is big, cozy (vintage comfortable chairs and seating), music is never too loud, so many things to look at on the wall (it's like going to the best flea market in the world, minus all the garbage), drinks are on point, the live music is not only wonderful but always tasteful, and they have a cute little backyard space for all you smokers. Best.Bar.Ever. You can come alone and make new friends, the patrons are always top notch as well as the bartenders. I have never taken a person here and have not witnessed them returning with or without me. read more

Little smoking patio out the back is basic but fine. So much to look at in there. It is curio-central with great style and I always see something I had never noticed before. Super clever also the way they renovated with the fake window/mirrors along the wall across from the bar. Love the place. Oh, and Stephanie is lovely :-) I left my pay check in there once and she opened early the next day to get it for me. Good people abound here. read more

It's a bummer, but NYC residents tend to become inured to awesome things: there are so many here, it can be hard to keep recognizing and being blown away by them. But The Keep succeeded in getting my attention and keeping me spellbound. It's a huge place with a beautiful back patio that's absolutely dripping with lovingly-curated objects of all sorts. It's like an antique store-carnival-1800s-salon that serves (good) drinks! My friend and I had a great time just admiring it all. Plus the bartender was super friendly (something I am never inured to) and offered to deal us in on his card game. I will be back for sure! Oh, and there's a *great* pizza shop next door, and you can bring the pizza to the bar if you want to. read more

This bar is a staple of my Bushwick adventures. Located on Cypress Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn, the area surrounding this bar is post-industrial. There are several warehouses-turned-concert-venues in the area. I adore visiting The Keep before or after such musical outings. The bar's eclectic and authentic vibe provides respite from the grating steelworks of a surrounding city that can make you feel like you're being swallowed whole. The walls and niches of this bar are toppled with whimsical antiques, fanciful works of architecture, and intriguing found objects. Not only does the bar provide an interesting setting in which to initiate discussion with dates, friends, and strangers, but the service also initiates a warm atmosphere. Went there for new years eve - had a terrible time. The music was awful, the drinks were disgusting and unbelievably overpriced. The coat rack was absolutely awful - it turned into a pile on the floor. I cannot believe I spent $50 to get into this place. read more
