We had a wonderful experience at the keg this time around, thanks to our wonderful waiter, Hector. I was ordering wine and he pointed out that they had Moon Curser on their dine around menu which is a favourite of mine and an excellent wine recommendation on his part. The food was delicious. I love the wedge salad with the dill ranch dressing. Our steak/prime rib was cooked to perfection. Hector knew I was bringing home my leftovers to our son, so he suggested that if we didn't have room for two desserts, we share the Billy Miner pie and he would box up a cheesecake for our son. I had the sirloin steak and lobster and a lavender spritz (latter is a tad sweet - which I should have anticipated). It twas all tasty fare, as expected. Service was good, not obsequious or overbearing. Good teamwork. It did take about half an hour to get my entree, making it feel like somewhere was understaffed. But the ambiance is nice. Music a little loud for normal table conversation - this seems to be normal for Kelowna urban restaurants, making me want to run fot the hills, or the lake! read more

The Keg has been a place that I have attended more times than I can count over the years, going back to the early days. There is a reason they are still around, and it's not that your parents went there, or even their parents. Their meat of choice is beef, and they do it pretty darn well, most of the time. Their additions are plentiful in size and what you expect to get for the most part. Our service, provided by Frank was very good, fast, courteous and with a touch of humour. The food was great, steaks were for the most part well cooked, as was my chicken, which often times overlooked. The lovely K's potato did not come as ordered, and the green beans on the side were wildly different in diameter and doneness. Drinks were good, dessert was good, and our company of six, entertaining. As for the ambience we really didn't notice either way. It's a fairly loud environment, at least where we were sat. Always good food. Our family favorite for steak in Canada. They had their lobster specials. Whole boiled Atlantic lobster diner with drawn butter for $60 CND about $43 USD. Perfectly cooked, sweet and tender. French onion soup is okay, could use less bread and much more cheese. Streak is always perfectly cooked. The roasted beets were excellent. Service was just okay but we had a table of 8 and I guess it's hard to please everyone especially if the good looking guys sit at the far side of the table, takes attention away from the ladies on the other end. Well that was a big let down! I would comment on the amount of salt added to the food. Wow, had to send a plate back because of the salt content. Food for thought, because you are busy in the kitchen, I get it, but covering everything in salt to add flavour because food timing is off, really!? We spent $600 + and the food was honestly, terrible. You're a steakhouse! Every steak x5 was not cooked to order or kept cooking because of slow service so by the time we received our dinner, it was dry and the only flavour was salt. Very very disappointed I got a Caesar salad pre-dinner and I have to honestly say it was the worst Caesar salad I have ever ever had. It was shocking! This place needs a new chef or a cooking lesson. Oh my, perfection. I haven't been to a Keg for 10 years or better. They had closed the one near me in Lake Oswego OR. When I saw the sign I made a commitment to come in. Outstanding service; pleasant, attentive, server knew the menu. Fantastic dinner; filet mignon was perfectly cooked to my request of Chicago style, the vegetables were delightful, fresh, and not a second overcooked. We came to this Keg for the first time in Kelowna. We have booked a table for 5:30pm. We were greeted promptly and were walked to our table in minutes. The restaurant is very clean, the servers in black and white and very friendly. The restaurant was warm, packed, and very busy with pleasant music in the background amid the discussions of hungry diners. We ordered the 6 Oz steak and lobster with seasonal veggies, a 10 Oz prime rib with a double baked potato, and a 12 Oz sirloin with seasonal veggies. We also ordered a regular coffee and a watermelon cosmo. Water was brought to us immediately and our drinks ordered. Coffee was an average decent large cup. It would appeal to diners who like Starbucks coffees. The watermelon cosmo was delightful. The waiter was great and checked in on us frequently. The food was served hot and in decent time. The steaks were ordered medium rare and were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The seasonal vegetables, with the very first bite into the button mushrooms, was an amazing flavour burst. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection and the double baked potato was delicious. We ended the meal with a cheesecake, crème brulee and an apple crumble. The cheesecake was creamy with the fruit sauce giving the dish a nice tang. Delicious. The crème brûlée was very creamy with just the right amount of crispy light sugar topping. Tasty bites and the perfect size for a satisfying dessert for those watching their waistlines. The apple crumble was lacking cinnamon but the person who ate it, an apple crumble enthusiast, felt it was very tasty and one of the better crumbles he had in a while. Overall, our compliments to the Chef. This is the BEST Keg restaurant we have visited to date. Great service. Great ambiance. Great food. High end. Worth every penny. read more

Table bread, tip: MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR THE THREE CHEESE BUTTER!! It's a game changer!! Delicious! The interior is dark, somewhat cavelike really. The above table lighting it decent though, maybe I'm just getting old. My table mates and I had a keg prime burger and some Keg Sliders (comes with deep fried onion straws). I'll say, the keg makes some good burgers! The other entree at the table was the seafood chicken. We also had the baked Brie appy. It came to the table at just the right temperature, was a great creamy texture with amazingly delicious pesto paste and a sweet chilli sauce AND enough Croustinis to use all the spreads, I'd recommend it for sure. The keg restaurants can be very inconsistent based on their locations. This one was a dud. The service was friendly enough, but it took an hour to get our main course and it was not that busy. I ordered a tuna tartare appetizer. It was bland. It was just raw tuna on on raw avocado, no seasoning. I almost asked the waitress for some soya sauce to add flavor to it. I then had the ahi fish dinner. Totally bland. Again it was just unseasoned cooked fish on top of unseasoned quinoa on top of unseasoned asparagus. I had to add butter to the asparagus to flavour it. There is not much I could do with the fish and quinoa for seasoning and flavour. Overall this meal was a big disappointment. There are better dining options in this town. read more

Not impressed with the Keg tonight. Steak and potato were very dried out...likely sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Also ordered nachos...again dry. Lack of cheese that I specifically questioned our server about. I had them remade and requested they be on the house...but on the bill they charged me for the $4 for cheese but not nachos! The new location is not quite as good as the old location which was downtown. Finally tried other night and our server was not nearly as attentive as some other servers in our seating area. She was nice, just a bit oblivious to our needs. Prices still quite pricey and what also threw me off was how weak their Get In the Loop offers were...just very same as the happy hr ones, really? Come on now. Plus before this time I tried to stop in, in person some weeks before and try and make a reservation at 5 pm for 7 pm and even said I was a local and not allowed as per their limit of reservations for the day, another really? I let management know of this fact and was just brushed off on it. Still tried though finally last week and was just an ok experience. Not to rush back until they have better specials and offers and happy hr specials in place like most other places in Kelowna. read more

I just had Sunday dinner with four friends at the new Keg in Kelowna. The restaurant was full and the ambience about what one would expect at a Keg. I am not sure that I like the new location in Kelowna on Highway 97 (located approximately one kilometre South of where Highway 33 intersects with Highway 97), but the new Keg seems to be a lot larger than the old downtown Keg (albeit not with the character that the old downtown Keg had) and so I'm sure that the owners are happy. I ordered the Mushrooms Neptune for my appetizer and they were just like the Mushrooms Neptune you get at any other Keg restaurant: tasty and too small of an order (as always). For my meal, I ordered a medium rare bone-in ribeye steak, with sides of twice baked potato, sautéed mushrooms and assorted vegetables. I washed my meal down with a large glass of Argentinian Malbec. The ribeye it was very good. It was cooked medium rare just the way I ordered it, very juicy and very flavorful. The twice baked potato was average, the sautéed mushrooms were good, and the assorted vegetables were more for plate decoration than eating. In truth, my meal was a typical Keg restaurant meal. A little overpriced, but I knew that going in. Accordingly, I have nothing bad to say about it. It is what I expected from the Keg. read more

My husband and I love this place. We make a special trip from Salmon Arm to Kelowna once or twice a month just for the Prime Rib and Top Sirloin. We are there enough that they know which side and where we like too sit. The food is great and always cooked the way we order it, well worth the price and the service is great. read more

Interesting. I met a friend here on his visit from Vancouver. He was craving a steak so this was the obvious choice. I had the caesar salad with no croutons and grilled chicken. I have to say it's not anything special. The meat was a bit dry and hard. I have said this before, Keg needs a menu revamp. We sat on the back patio which can get a bit loud since the hwy is just on the outside of the patio being in Kelowna we sat there until 12am and it wasn't cold so that's nice. There are other options, and for an $18.00 salad they can certainly do much better. Our server was lovely though, Morgan you killed it. read more

We went as a group for a retirement dinner. Reservation was for 4:30pm. We were told everyone had to be on time or they would start removing seats. Luckily everyone was prompt (kudos guys on a Saturday, earliest I've ever gone for dinner!) and we kept our tables. Service was very attentive, no complaints there! Servers kept our glasses full and were super pleasant. I had the Classic New York Striploin. To call it the "king of steaks" might be a stretch but it was very tasty. My starter salad (caesar) was rather droopy. Tasted 'ok'. Maybe made hours earlier? The rest of the dinner was really good. Green beans were fresh & crisp. Red peppers were also crisp. Garlic potatoes were lovely (I've been dieting so any potato might have received a star rating!) I had a Caesar to drink and it was excellent!! Just the right amount of spice! Finished off with the Fudge Brownie Mini. This was a surprise! Not sure what the regular brownie looks like but this was the size of a piece of cake, a large 1/8 cup of whip cream and another scoop of ice cream on the side. Super yummy! and the price was right! ($3) Over all, excellent dinner! Everyone else said their's was good also except for the veggie dish of fried cauliflower, which came out cold! We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here. Our server JD was awesome. His suggestions were bang on for what we were in the mood for. The mood was great, not too loud that we had to talk over the music and there was enough light in the dining room that we were able to see everything on our plates. We did leave just in time though as the dining room was filling up quickly and was getting noisier. There was a party of 19 with a kids table that we are glad we didn't have to sit through. Used to eat at the Keg when it was downtown, that was a very long time ago. Went with a few friends and found that the menu prices of everything has skyrocketed. I think they are trying to push the atmosphere and trying to be more hipster whereas their downtown location was comfy yet classy and traditional. Ordered the Oscar steak medium rare, was more medium than rare, not that flavorful. I remember getting a full course meal before, now, no salad, only ONE accompaniment and that's it, all for $36. Before one could have two accompaniments with the meal and a good sized chilled Caesar salad! Also used to have lots of toppings for the baked potato. Service was ok, food wasn't that great. It's time to give mom & pop outfits more business, the Keg is now riding on it's previous reputation for a great steakhouse. read more

Have been to the new location 6 times. Only because we had 2 gift certificates. Wonder why the 6 visits Only 2 out of the 6 we worth paying for... Food and service can really be approved upon. I ordered the escargot my fave . first one sent back was only half full of sauce not hot so sent back got a new escargot sizzling beautiful too look at dipped my bread into it was a wonderful flavor and then I ate the escarot and I had to run around the room to look for a paper napkin to spit it out it was so full of sand and I mean full of sand I am sorry to say very disappointed in the keg the management Jane took care of my wine and the escargot but I left a $20 tip I am an old kegger my son was a manager and waiter for years now grandson working at keg. Very very disappointed I knew the family and grew up eating at keg now I know why. The keg in kelowna is Empty and friends aways say do not go not the same empty so sorry you from old. Again I try to reserve and they only accept a limited amount. I brought a client who was 80 for his b-day but tried calling all day to make reservations. We were advised just to try walking in. There was no way I was going to have him go thru the hassle so I ran in and of course, they were full. What a joke. I will always want to make a reservation so I won't be choosing the keg! There are many restaurants that want our business and gladly make it comfortable for us. read more
