AMBIANCE: The entrance was pretty hidden but once inside, it was beautiful! Lots of window and natural lighting. It felt very casual but also fancy at the same time. Also the waiters and the hostess was very funny! FOOD: We got the steak tenderloin and it was cooked perfectly! I really enjoyed the charred broccolini on the side as well. This restaurant is located inside Mt. Boucherie Winery and offers a variety of casual yet refined dishes, including steak, sandwiches, fish, burgers, and more. They offer a happy hour menu, which is something not many winery restaurants do, and that's one of the things I like about this place. The restaurant has a fantastic view overlooking the lake and the winery, with a sophisticated ambiance and a super-nice patio. My partner ordered the fish tacos from the happy hour menu. I chose the smoked Lambwich, which featured smoked lamb shoulder, Kentucky BBQ dipping sauce, pickled pepperoncini, lettuce, and mayo on a soft, delicious bun. The fish tacos were made with salmon, lettuce, peluvian dressing and topped with tempura bits. Using salmon for tacos was unique, and it was very flavorful and tasted great. The Lambwich featured pulled lamb and plenty of spicy pickles. The sauce was quite thick, and the side of fries was a bit too salty. To pair with wine, I would have preferred a lighter taste. However, since it's a casual meat sandwich, I think the robust flavor was fitting. We had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was just great. It had a nice crispness with a lovely fruit flavor, pairing perfectly with our meals. I really loved that wine. Overall, I can't fully judge this restaurant based on the casual dishes we ordered. We'll definitely go back to try other main dishes and appetizers. I'm already looking forward to returning. read more

Hands down the best burger in West Kelowna! Happy hour menu is good but service can be quite hit or miss during lunch/happy hour, sometimes even disappointing, it's always far better at dinner. Last time we visited I heard someone shouting F bombs from the kitchen which was a little unexpected, especially sitting next to the kitchen door with two kids. We grabbed a tasting downstairs before our reservation and enjoyed the wine, and then we really enjoyed the food afterwards too. Also the view is pretty awesome. We were told to come for the marinated feta. We got that (feta), garlic prawns, a steak, the terrine, and mussels. Everything tasted great and cooked just right. I really liked the greens and potatoes that came with the meat cut too. My favorite was the terrine. read more

Giving this 2 stars mainly for the view and the ambiance inside the restaurant. I would rate the food at one star. Unfortunately, this was my second visit, and I left disappointed again. I paid $60 for a 7 oz tenderloin and fries, which were presented in an underwhelming manner. Way overpriced for what it is, which was my impression already on the first visit a couple of years ago. Sadly, I don't see myself returning and can't recommend it for the food. read more

Was hesitant to eat here after mixed reviews but we did a wine tasting at Mt. Boucherie and saw the restaurant had had gorgeous views and outside dining so it checked our requirements for a final dinner of our trip to Kelowna. We make a same day reservation for a Saturday in August and were advised the patio was first come/first serve. We got to our reservation a little early (4:45pm) and had no problem getting seated on the patio for our group of 7. We stuck to cocktails and beer as we didn't love the wine from the tasting. The Zombie cocktail was fantastic- our waiter warned that it packed a punch so it was enjoyed slowly. For food, every person loved their meal. I had halibut and other orders were pork chops, steak and frites, and the burger. For kids meals they offered chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, and grilled cheese. Our kids weren't super hungry- we had ordered them the Mac and grilled cheese. The adults at the table finished off the kid's meals as they were incredibly delicious! Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions for their menu as well as upbeat and fast with service! It was a perfect last dinner of our trip. read more

Came here for dinner while visiting Kelowna this summer. We had been to the winery connected the the modest butcher before, so we knew they had great vine and a great view of the lake. To drink we had some local white wines which we both enjoyed. To eat, we started with the scallops and the "things on bread". The scallops were to be expected, very good but small portion. The Things on bread, is an open face style flat bread, tones of fresh flavours and actually my favour dish of the night! For dinner we both got a steak, the New York strip and the ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly medium rare, however for a steak house, we found the steaks to be a bit tough and were almost cold when we got them unfortunately. For dessert we had the creme brûlée which is my fav so I order it anywhere that serves it! It was very good, but not at crispy on torched top layer as I like, still yummy though. Overall, great wine, great view and our waitress was awesome as well! Food was good, but there is definitely room for improvement. 7/10 read more

Made 2 reservations and both weren't recognized. They have FCFS for patio to which we put our name down at 6:30pm. And a reservation for dining room at 8:30pm. They said they'd call if table opened on patio otherwise we'd be seated at 8:30pm in dining room. (The next 'supposed available res). Left restaurant and went online to find the next available reservation was actually 8:15pm. So we boooked under different name. Came back at 8pm to find the guy never put our game down at all. it took then 30 mins for the guy who originally booked the res to come talk to us as there was no record of the reservation, or our name on list for patio. This same guy told us there was 10-20 more reservations in front of us. WTF?! until I told him no actually we booked a reservation immediately after he said they were full. He's like ok. let me get you seated. Then we waited another 30 mins to seat us and another 30 mins for someone to offer drink. But no menu. Eventually they moved to patio after talking to hostess, waitress and then i believe to be Manager. Not sure cuz She never introduced herself. All staff were unknowledgeable. And one announced it was her first day... In the end view was great. Food was mediocre. and the patio was freezing Won't go back read more

Just simply amazing! When first walking in we were welcomed right away then seated immediately. The server was one of the best we have had in a long time and was the perfect balance of being exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable but not over the top in your face. And let's talk about the food....We eat out a lot and this food was to die for! Everything was soo perfectly cooked just the way we requested. The staff understandably wanted to get off to their families for Christmas Eve and even though being one of their last sittings we never once felt rushed. Great job The Modest Butcher we will definitely be back again and again! read more

Pros: This restaurant is beautiful. It's modern and the view is gorgeous. The menu is funny and has jokes on it. The servers are great. The bathrooms were spacious and beautiful. The Modest Mule is DELICIOUS. Cons: is it charcuterie if there is no cheese? It's $5 per cheese. Which is fine, if you get more than 3 TINY pieces. There was a weird pork thing on the charcutie that looked like pate but was weirdly chewy and gross. Four almonds. 2 gherkins. Maybe 4 slices of each meat (3 types). All for the OUTRAGEOUS price of $31. The fries were fine. The dip was tasteless. The "Buffalo" chicken burger had no Buffalo. For a place with butcher in the name, I thought steak was a good bed. It was not. It was thin. Overcooked. And underwhelming. I wouldn't come back. It was overpriced and underwhelming. read more

I'd like to say the hour + wait for lunch was worth it, but other than the burger, it was not. We sat for at least a half hour with empty water glasses. My wife liked the burger. The flavor of the lamb "poutine" was overpowered by the sharp gorgonzola cheese and even though there were four of us sharing it, there was plenty left over. The duck club sandwich was thick with duck that you could not taste. It was overpowered by a berry jam. It also came with a greasy bottom bread. I'm a red wine guy and we ended up buying no wine. To taste, we had to register online and pay the nonrefundable fee in advance. Who does that? I'd give a one star rating if not for the burger and the nice attitude of the hostess. I will not be going back to this restaurant anytime soon. My husband ordered a $60 steak that the waiter assured him was going to be the best steak he had ever eaten. He ordered it medium rare. When it arrived, it was overcooked on one side and had barely touched the grill on the other. My pork chop was seriously underdone. The waiter assured me that that was the way a pork chop should be cooked. Shouldn't the customer get to say how their food should be cooked? My daughter ordered the halibut and she really enjoyed it. We also enjoyed sharing the salad. My French onion soup had a very rich broth which was delicious, but gave me stomach problems later in the evening. The ambiance at this restaurant is nothing to write home about. The tables are very stark and bare, and there is no music to drown out all the other sounds. This might be a nice place to go in the summer and sit on the patio, but the menu and the food does not inspire me to return or recommend it. read more

I've been a big fan of Mount Boucherie Winery and the Modest Butcher restaurant and have referred many friends and visitors. How quickly that can change! We had reservations for 6 on Friday night. Unfortunately heavy smoke moved into the okanagan valley and we had two people with asthma issues. The outside deck was out of the question. We couldn't sit inside due to the Interiors high Covid numbers plus the doors were all open to the deck so smoke was still an issue. My friend and I decided to do takeout instead as we had all decided on our selections. While they were preparing we were going to do a wine tasting. It could have been a win win. Unbelievably the kitchen refused to accept our takeout order as they were too busy! But we had reservations, they were going to prepare our meals anyway! We tried again and once again they refused. Even the front staff were confused and tried their best. They absolutely refused! No one needs to tolerate such bad service. Not only did the kitchen staff cost the restaurant 6 meals and drinks but they also cost the winery as we have never walked away from a tasting without purchasing. And there are a few Mount Boucherie wines that I really enjoy. How such an anticipated evening with our guests could turn so horribly wrong by what I can only assume were a few ill tempered kitchen staff. read more
