A delicious experience! A beautiful decorated and lit dining…read moreroom. Welcoming staff. We (a party of 5) arrived without reservations and were promptly seated. The menu featured a pre- fixed menu for $65/per person - featuring Canadian or Argentinian steaks. We were guided through the menu by Nicole, a lovely vivacious server and who is also clairvoyant!

What a great night... and a Unforgettable Dining Experience at Victoria's Steakhouse…read more From the second we walked into Victoria's Steakhouse, we knew we were in for something special. The food was outstanding, but honestly, the service and overall experience stole the show. Right away, we were welcomed with a handwritten note from the staff, which was such a thoughtful touch. It set the tone for the whole night and made us feel like more than just another table. Leah, Taylor, Nicole, and Brenden on the bar all made sure we were taken care of, and they worked together like a real team. Our main server for the night, Leah, was incredible. She checked in at just the right times, kept the drinks coming, and made sure we never felt rushed. That's something I really appreciated--the timing was perfect. We had time to sit, talk, and enjoy every course without feeling like we were being pushed out the door. That alone makes this place stand out. The Food - Top Notch wow!! We ordered a mix of appetizers, and right away, we knew we were in for a great night. The Steak Tartare was packed with flavour, really fresh, and had just the right texture. The Beet & Charred Citrus Salad was a great surprise--the burrata made it creamy, and the mix of ingredients worked perfectly together. Then came the Maryland Style Crab Cakes, and these were easily some of the best we've had. Crispy on the outside, full of real crab on the inside, with no filler, and the fennel and grilled citrus remoulade gave them a light, fresh kick. Just unreal. The Wagyu D'or Bone Marrow was something else. Super rich, buttery, and loaded with deep beefy flavour. The short rib was so tender it fell apart, and the mix of confit onions, taleggio cheese, and truffle just made it even better. Definitely a must-try if you want something packed with flavour. Then we had the Wagyu, and this was hands down one of the most incredible steaks we've ever had. We ordered 4 ounces of Japanese A5 Wagyu, and it was everything you'd expect--unbelievably tender, with insane marbling that melted like butter in your mouth. The flavour was so deep and rich, you don't even need sauce or seasoning--it just speaks for itself. Every bite had that perfect balance of fat and beefiness, giving it a texture that you really can't compare to anything else. If you're someone who loves steak, this is an experience you need to try at least once. For sides, we went with the Risotto Milanese, which was perfectly creamy with a nice saffron taste--not too overpowering, just right. The Confit Carrots with brown butter and maple were also really good, with the smoked almond crumble adding a great crunch. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't leave without dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was next-level. Warm, soft, and covered in a crazy good caramel sauce. If you're a dessert person, this is one you don't want to skip. The Cheesecake was smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet--just really well done. A great way to wrap things up. A Cool Surprise at the End After we finished eating, they invited us to see the kitchen, which was something I've never had happen in Hamilton before. It was spotless, and you could just see how much passion the kitchen staff has for what they do. It was a really cool way to end the night and just added to the overall experience. This was easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Hamilton. The food was next-level good, but what really made the night was the service. The staff at Victoria's Steakhouse didn't just serve us--they made us feel welcome. If you're looking for a top-tier meal with amazing service, this is the place. Hands down one of the best nights out we've had in years!!

Came here to celebrate Mother's Day…read more This smart dressy dress code restaurant was very cozy and intimate. It was a wonderful atmosphere with soft instrumental music and the ability to hear the conversation of people at your table. To start, there was toasted bread with feta cheese and dill pickles. The starter salad was a huge supper entree size plate. The choice wax garden or Cesar. You could get the French Onion soup instead. Had the main Filet Peppercorn sauce. Asked for medium rare and it was amazing but it had a little much gravy for my liking. The baked potato side was a nice side (not too big) which came with butter and sour cream versus having french fries. Veggies were a few string beans, a slice of a big carrot and a piece of red sweet pepper. The plating of such fine expensive entrees was not very sophisticated. Thought it would be plated much nicer than it did. The server was very friendly and helpful. Chefs were accommodating to special requests and the food was excellent. A nice, special occasions/ celebration restaurant. It is better than a chain restaurant.

The space is absolutely gorgeous--refined, comfortable, and very easy to navigate if you just follow the building signage. The happy hour menu is phenomenal value for a spot of this caliber. The popover with the roasted garlic and oregano butter is a must-order--flaky, warm, and rich. The classic Caesar salad was crisp and packed with generous bacon lardons and grana padano, while the beef skewers had great char with just the right amount of teriyaki sweetness and chili kick. Capped everything off with the monkey bread, warm spiced pecans, and cream cheese icing, which was incredible. Service was stellar throughout. Nicole took care of me and was attentive, warm, and paced everything seamlessly without ever making the meal feel rushed. Easily one of the best happy hour spots in the city--will definitely be back.

After hearing about some early growing pains, I purposely waited before visiting. But when Toronto…read moreLife hosted a special TL Insider dinner ($225 per person, inclusive of taxes and gratuities), curiosity won out. The prices listed below reflect the regular menu, though portions at the event were likely smaller than standard service. The evening began with a beef skewer ($31), featuring cubes of barbecued beef glazed in teriyaki and topped with plenty of chives. Unfortunately, consistency was an issue. Other guests raved about how tender theirs were, while mine arrived overcooked. It wasn't inedible, but it certainly wasn't tender. One of the restaurant's newer additions is its aged fish program, so I was eager to try the dry-aged salmon ($33). Listed as a "crudo," I expected delicate slices in a citrusy sauce, but it arrived as another skewer. The texture was undeniably smooth, with the dry aging removing any chewiness, but the salmon also developed a gaminess that lingered unpleasantly. A marinade or thinner slicing might help balance things out. I'm glad their signature Caesar salad ($24) remains excellent. It's beautifully balanced with acidity, savouriness, and thoughtful touches like buttery breadcrumbs and bacon bits that aren't rock hard. It's still one of the better Caesars in the city, though tableside preparation now costs an additional $10. Fans of tartare will likely appreciate the beef tartare ($41), which is prepared traditionally with minimally dressed hand-cut beef. Personally, I wanted more contrast in texture or flavour, though tartare has never been my go-to dish. I did appreciate the accompaniments of buttery crostini and gem lettuce leaves, which offered a lighter way to enjoy it. And for fans like me, don't worry their cheese bread puffs still make an appearance (along with their take home chocolate muffins). What continues to shine at Jacobs is the steak itself. The 40-day dry aged striploin was cooked beautifully, developing a crust that locked in the juices while maintaining tenderness despite being a leaner cut. The seasoning is more restrained, which allowed the volcanic sea salt and chimichurri on the side to actually enhance the beef rather than overwhelm it. The pecorino broccolini ($22) had me almost finishing off the plate and is such a nice accompaniment with the rich beef. The only disappointment was the duck fat fries ($21), which arrived lukewarm and slightly stale, likely a casualty of serving a packed dining room. Dessert ended the evening on a high note. The crème brulee ($21) was fantastic with visible vanilla bean specks throughout the silky custard. The sugar topping was thin and delicate, avoiding that overly sweet crunch some versions suffer from. Served alongside a sizeable chocolate biscotti and a fragrant orange shortbread cookie, it's easily large enough to share. With the expanded dining room, the front-of-house team has clearly grown as well. The staff is younger and fresher-faced, so any old-school steakhouse stuffiness has largely disappeared. More importantly, the service remains polished and attentive, and we were well taken care of throughout the evening.

The oysters were presented with perfect condiments of a hot sauce, a very nicely balanced horseradish preparation and a lovely vinegar based touch. I decided on the feature dish, which was a superbly prepared surf n' turf. This beautiful dish was a sight that immediately evoked a feeling of self-congratulation on realizing what I had "signed up for". One of the largest lobster tails I have ever seen was beautifully presented with the core of the lobster's exoskeleton, and immediately competed with the beautifully seared medallions of beef which were perfectly done. Incredibly flavourful, tender and the perfect complement to the lobster tail. The lobster was not just a sight to behold, it was plentiful in size, and had the beautifully distinct, rich, regal flavour and texture that only comes from something that is perfectly prepared. The gnocchi that was the third element was warm, al dente with a luscious cream sauce that was a delightfully heart-warming comfort food component. All perfectly balanced and a trio of triumph. The desert was an apple and spice cake topped with a delightfully delicate and scrumptious cookie that was the perfect topping, especially when the chocolate sauce revealed its true spirit! The wine was perfect, a lovely Cabernet from the Mendoza region of Argentina. The crowning touch to the evening was the dreamy music and singing provided by the extraordinarily talented and renowned Laura Fernandez. She was awarded the rare accolade of Steinway Pianist in Canada, for her ability to bring her artistry in song-writing and compassion to life. Her beautiful style on the piano, and her incomparable warmth and superb talent conspired with the fabulous offerings of Marquee to make the evening one to treasure. People stayed long after their beautiful dinner was finished, just to enjoy her beautiful presence. Congratulations to Marquee and Laura for a thoroughly enchanting evening!
