I was really nervous for my 2-year-old to get his first haircut. Based on reviews, we scheduled with Ali and hoped for the best. The best is exactly what we got! Ali did a great job making our son feel comfortable. He talked to my son, let him choose clippers and turn them on and made him feel very comfortable and involved. He was understanding with us taking a million pictures and wanting to keep some curls. My 2-year-old got a great first cut, line up included with no tears. Location: The first is in kent in the plaza. The second is in renton across from a 711 gas station and also next to a field. Ambiance/ VIew: It is very laid back in both of them. They usually have a game going on if there is one( basketball,football, etc.) . music or talking and joking. It is all mostly young guys with good sense of humour and willingness to do a good job. Very chill. Cleanliness: From what I've seen every time I go; its always clean. The bathroom is always clean and smells good. When you go in you will normally see hair on the floor(being it is a barber shop) and someone cleaning it immediately. The are very good at cleaning and helping each other out. You will even see them cleaning their razors and more quite often. Customer Service: They always greet with a smile and immediately ask if you have an appointment. If not, they make sure they communicate with you on whether they have space and time with one of the barbers or if you need to set up an appointment. They are friendly and always ask how you are and about you. ( as a barber shop custom dictates.) They are both great at communicating. Barber: I have Ben as my barber( he's the og of the group) and he is always communicates and makes sure it comes out exactly how you want it. I've had him for 5 years. It took me a few months to find someone good who caters to the crazy request of a Puerto Rican. ( we are very particular on our hair and always require a straight blade razor lol )We Stay Fresh! He's become a friend. And as in all real, good barber shops a confidant. Options: The have an array of talent at both and are willing to do anything the client asks for. If your barber doesn't have the talent/skill to do a certain design or something along the lines of what you need; they have someone there who can help them out and make sure it gets done. ( mind you if it is something crazy, they usually will ask you first and recommend someone) :) Overall: No matter which one you go to you should have a good experience. If you are a true admirer of Barbershops then make sure you go here and let them know what kind of style, haircuts, fades etc. you like and they will point you to the best person to get it from. They all are very talented and some of them are fresh out of school learning from the old heads. I like that the owner Christian give new kids a chance to learn and make money there all the while he mentors them. They have gotten bigger and decided to open the second location. The first time I went here it was good, but the 2nd time was beyond bad. It's as if I woke up and was like "you know what I feel like doing? I'm going to pay a man $35 + tip to make sure I wear a beanie for a month or so until my next haircut." Getting roasted when I got home was icing on the cake. Best EVER barber shop! My husband and boys have been coming here for years. They create a fun clean environment. All these guys are amazing. Quality hair cuts for men and boys. So worth our 20 minute drive here every month. The guys don't rush. They take their time and do quality work. It's great to walk in and have the guys recognize my boys. Um. Where do I start. I had my husband try this spot out a few weeks ago. He went in without an appointment and the guy that took him in was okay. Nothing great but it was last minute so no complaints. Today... he went in with an appointment w Daniel and had to wait an hour and a half. Then he gets a crappy (to not use profanity) cut. As a result of Covid, I was unable to see my usual barber for months. I decided to try a new barber, so I found The Kingdom on Yelp. I was able to schedule a same-day appointment, which was very helpful. Osvaldo was the barber who gave me a shave and haircut. His technique was smooth, leaving me with no razor burn on my face or throat. I've had barbers aggressively trim the back of my neck and gouge me with the clippers; Osvaldo kept the blade nice and flat on the skin, resulting in zero gouges to my skin. He took his time, offering options along the way and providing a handheld mirror on two occasions so I could see exactly what he was proposing. He listened, which is HUGE for a good barber. I am very happy with the end result. FYI: As of May 30th, The Kingdom had to change their prices. A men's haircut is $40, and a haircut + shave is $50. I took my son here for his back to school haircut. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to get him right in. The person who did his hair was very thorough, he did take over 45 minutes but once he was done his hair looked perfect. Yup. Walked in to their new location at noon on a Friday and the place was packed. The place looked clean and fresh though. So I waited. Lots of chairs, lots of space. Huge upgrade from their old location. I would for sure call ahead if you're planning on stoping in. Or not. I only waited for 45 minutes because I didn't have particular barber I wanted there. They've got a sign up front $18 for a fade. "All cuts include" straight razor work. I was pretty indifferent about the results only because I wasn't very clear about what I wanted. Having had my hair cut by multiple of their barbers, I can say that it's hard to be dissatisfied with the quality of cut you get from them. Recently, I had my hair cut by Danny. I just moved to Kent from California in December, so I'm in the market for a new barber. Everyone knows how stressful that can get. Right when I walked in, one of the barbers there greeted me warmly and asked me if I had an appointment. I told him I was a walk-in and he promptly went to their system to check for their next available time. This place was poppin', there wasn't an empty seat in the house. Since they were so busy, he told me that there wouldn't be an available slot until two hours later. I booked the slot, left to run some errands, then came back. Right when I got back, that same barber greeted me and told me that I was good and early and that the barber he set me up with was finishing up his current client and that I could take a seat. I got to sit and take in the atmosphere of the place. The vibe was very chill and clients seemed to be very comfortable with their respected barbers. Some patrons would walk in and would instantly be greeted from across the room by their barber, which, to me, speaks volumes about their service. Their work stations looked very clean and organized, well lit and full of mirrors, and the store itself was constantly being swept, so there was never an unruly amount of hair on the floor. When it was my time, my barber, RJ, called me up and sat me down in one of their very comfortable chairs. He asked me what I wanted and when I told him, he confirmed with me to make sure we were on the same page, which I definitely appreciated. During the haircut, he sparked up a conversation with me asking me if it was my first time there. I could tell he asked genuinely and not for the sake of making small talk, so I gave him the whole spiel that I just moved and was looking for a new haircut place, etc. From there, the conversation flowed naturally, and right away the mood felt very easy and it was like it wasn't my first time there. Even the barber and client next to us joined in on our conversation. Now the whole reason for coming here: the haircut. The haircut itself was top notch. I never felt any tugging on my hair or uncomfortable scraping from the clippers, which can get tricky since I get a 2-skintight taper. The end result definitely rivaled that of my old barber of 6 years back in California. Like I said before, RJ made sure he understood what I wanted and executed it amazingly. The taper was very clean and I he brushed me off and blow-dried me well so I wasn't covered in tiny hairs afterwards. The whole haircut took no longer than about 15 minutes, I'd say. In terms of pricing, I'd say it's kind of steep. That being said, you're definitely getting what you pay for. The quality of their service was, in my opinion, immaculate and they definitely delivered on my haircut. All in all, I definitely think I found my new place. The way they treat their customers, the upkeep of the shop, and the quality of their haircuts impressed me. Next time, though, I'll be sure to book an appointment ahead of time so I won't be stuck with a slot two hours ahead of when I get there. read more

Do not go here if you don't speak Spanish, I literally showed the guy an exact picture of what I wanted and tried my best to explain but he did whatever he wanted and ruined my hair. I went in for a head shave and the guy taking care of walk-ins keep SLAMMING the clippers into my scalp. I had to get up and walk out. I ended up with bruises on my scalp that took a week to heal up. You work hard for your money...spend it elsewhere is my advice. read more

Visited Washington state for the holidays and was in need of a haircut. I'm always cautious when trying to find a new barber but based on the reviews of this place I was interested in trying it out. They have a nice website with information on each barber and easy to schedule process. When I arrived the barbershop was clean and had a nice setup. I believe I scheduled a cut with Jamir because it said his specialty on the website was Asian hair. Seemed like a down to earth dude but during the cut he disregarded the part already in my hair and shaved a completely new one in. Lol then this guy said "oh shoot my bad bro" it looked terrible, I mean he did a good taper fade and everything but attention to detail ruined this haircut. My son has been getting his hair cut here since he was about 2 or 3 years old. The owner used to cut his hair at their previous location and he was great with him. Ben has been cutting my son's hair for the past year or so. He is a great barber and great with my son. This last time we went in, we booked with Chris, since Ben was booked for a while and my son needed a haircut urgently. Chris was really good as well. The kingdom barbershop provides great barbers, great service, and are great with kids! It's super family friendly. I don't have my son go to any other barbershop but here. They are always booked, and I have never been successful walking in. But booking is easy. Just google kingdom barbershop appointment, or got to the Genbook website. I don't mind having to book an appointment. I think it speaks to how good they are at what they do. Just a couple of tips: I think most barbers take cash only. Barbers for daaaaays! Black, Asian, Latino and White barbers! Seriously, this place is huge! 16 chairs all going at once! I got my first cut here this weekend (as a walk-in) with Alan. He hooked it up with a high bald fade with a pompadour combover and line up. As I got my haircut, I noticed that all the barbers were doing great work, I would have seriously sat in any of these guys' chairs. I used to go to Top fade in Renton, but they can't seem to keep good barbers clean enough to keep their jobs... and the wait is always over an hour. Kingdom was super clean, organized and professional. They recommend making an appointment so you're not waiting too long. I wish I would have known of this place way sooner! I made an appointment with Justin in Renton for my husband and son on the 2nd and early in the morning the guy who was supposed to cut their hair messaged me saying that he wasn't going to be able to do their cut which was fine he asked if I could do the next day and I agreed and said it wasn't a problem thanking for letting us know. So we rescheduled it for the 3rd which he said was fine and worked out perfectly. I've been going to this barber shop for about a year. I recently starting going to the new shop after the move in Kent and I'm never disappointed. Alex is very good at his craft and everyone in there is very professional. As soon as you walk in someone greets you and confirms your appointment. They also send you to the direction of your barber and very knowledgeable if you have questions. The shop is very clean and it is easy to make an appointment online. I also like how the website allows you to pick a barber based off of your hair type and/or the style you want. I haven't gone to a different barbershop since I first went to this one and I don't think I'll let anyone else cut my hair again. This place is great! read more
