You'll walk in and get that local family owned feel. Since they only accept cash, the closest ATM is inside Fred Meyer, (Jerry's and Fred Meyer share the same building). My husband needed a last minute trim. Other barber shops were booked. We saw Jerry's was open and gave them a call. They weren't busy and accept walk ups, so we drove over. Got there and their door was locked. If you face the same issue try giving the place a call. Once we gave them a call, Al greeted us and let us in. Al also explained why the door was locked. My husband showed Al a picture of a trim he's gotten in the past that he wanted. Al took his time perfecting the trim on my husband's thick wavy hair and it turned out great. My wife and I both go here. All the barbers are great at their job. The lady is superior at haircuts. She takes her time and makes you look super good. People will wait for hours for her. Wasn't too sure when I walked in as the place seems kinda dingy and it's obvious if you look up at the AC vents that the place hasn't been cleaned in awhile. I took my toddler here today for a haircut after a string of terrible cuts at Great Clips. There was a calm, collected older man who did the cut and didn't seem at all frazzled that my little boy was thrashing around because he was scared of the clippers (my boy is only 21 months old). Seemed like the man had been cutting hair for years and he'd pretty much seen it all. He patiently gave my wiggly son a decent haircut. The cut was $13, which seemed reasonable for the area, although I'm nostalgic for the days when kids cuts were dirt cheap. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is because the man wouldn't let my son sit on my lap for the cut, which would have been much less scary for him. Even so, he did such a good job that I'll definitely be coming back. Side note: I have no idea why this place is listed as a $$$$ place on Yelp. I can't imagine that the adult haircuts would be that much more expensive than the kids haircuts. read more

I came here few times when I lived in Renton, back in the days, I believed in, or got haircuts. This review is mostly for the owner Jerry and not the barbershop. It's a cool little shop that's been in business for over 50 years, and you can tell by looking at their chairs that scream "upholster me!" The owner, Jerry Benson is a cool guy that has a morning AM talkshow (intervention radio, helping those with substance abuse problems)on Sat. mornings. Obviously he's loved by the community, as evidenced by all the photos of fresh haircutted people adorning his walls (even one of Ken Griffey Jr!). If you're looking for a no frills, no supercuts haircut by a righteous dude, go see mr benson and the boys over at Jerrys, and tell them Steve sent you. I just moved to Renton and wasn't looking forward to the trial-and-error process of finding a good barber. Finding a barber, and not a "stylist", is a challenge in itself. While making a trip to my nearby Freddy's, I happened upon this little barber shop and stepped inside to have a look. All the seats were open, so I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I did! I got a simple, neat & clean haircut without being butched. I'll definitely go back the next time I need a trim. Bear in mind that it's nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a simple haircut that suits a man, this is the place. read more

We love it here. We go to Scott or Culam. They are both very nice and good at men's and boys cuts. The price is good and they are both very patient with my toddler who is a moving target. It's nice to see friendly faces every time we stop in. read more

Went here for the first time and yes it has a classy barber feel to it. Cuts are pretty pricey at 15 bucks. The gentlemen were nice and the cut was quick. It looked even that day but 2 days later there were some uneven spots. I will come back again one day but this will not be my regular barber due to the pricing. Been coming here on and off for a couple years now and gotten mixed results. I have straight, thick Asian hair. Some of the guys there have done a good job with it, while others seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. I wouldn't come here looking for a super clean fade/taper or anything, as they always end up leaving something uneven. Nothing big, just a few stray hairs or a dent in the line-up. I've always found it difficult to find a good barber in this area. I've jumped around to several locations through the years. And as time went on, I've been more particular about my haircut; demanding more than just a generic trim of the top and sides. I knew exactly what I wanted and house to explain it, but only few knew exactly how to do it. I took a chance at Jerry's and was immediately won over by his competence. He took his time and was very detail oriented. I've never felt more comfortable on the chair, and the finished product looked incredible. hello, my name is ray and i am united states marine, on 4/11/2011 i went into this establishment to get my sons 1st haircut... my son refused so i sat down in the barbers chair to set the example for my son, showing him that it wasnt a painful experience. and let me say it was the worst haircut that i had ever recieved. i asked him for a zero high and tight fade. the first haircut, don wood, gave me left me looking like a mushroom was glued to my head, so kindly and politely i aske him to cut it shorter on the top hopping that he would have enough common sense to cut the sides... boy was i wrong. then i had to tell him to cut the sides down... he did very hastly. then he showed me the final final result, or what most barbers do when their done. i was fed up afterall i had been in the barbers chair for 25 min. thinking he was done he pulled out the clippers and started to cut again. after that he grabbed his "vaccum cleaner" and vaccumed my neck. after paying the man 15.00 for haircut i didnt like i left. when i got to my car i looked at my hair. again i have to irterate that it was the worse haircut i had recieved. choppy, too short on top and too long on the sides, not a high and tight but something that resembled a mullet or fohawk, hair was everywhere including my face my shirt, he even "lined up my forehead without even consulting me on it. i went back asked for a manager. they refused to give me any info. they did offer the money back, to go get it cut somewhere else. i refused and still wanted to talk to a manager. they told me to come back sunday.... today is monday... i came home and googled the barbershop looking for some kind of contacts. i called and they decided to give a number to a person who no longer is in charge there but was don's friend. this gentleman proceeded to tell me that he is no longer was the owner that he sold it to another partner.,jerry benson... the gentleman that told me to please hold that he would call the store on three way... called the store. he asked for don wood, who refused to cooperate with "his boss". leaving the phone repeatedly. i was told by the gentleman that tried to resolve this issue that there is no way to contact jerry benson, and that they would give me a free hair cut next time around, this should not be a trial and error event... i am not recomending don lose his job but i seriously believe that he either needs to be repemanded or sent back to barber school. the gentleman, not don, apoligized for the bad haircut. i am very dis pleased with the way this store handles business... still no point of contact for jerry benson. BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WILL BE CONTACTED.... read more
