It's not too hard, I would rate it moderate, but you should be in decent shape to attempt this hike. It is all uphill, it's moderate uphill. The last section right before you get to the peak is more of an intense uphill climb. The intense part doesn't last too long though. This hike offers beautiful views of the lake and Table mountains. Hiking the peak can be a bit tricky. Rocks are slippery, so wear good shoes with grip and ankle protection. This hike is unbearable in the summer, it's too hot. Winter months and early spring are my fave times to hike it. Parking is free if you park along the road. If you park in the parking lot day use area, I think it's $5. There is a public restroom, sometimes it's closed and a portopotty is available.

Weaver Lake is the easiest-to-reach lake in the wilderness and nice day hike. Trail has good signs. You'll take a Left at .7 mi, then do a bit of climbing uphill. You'll see Shell Mountain and the lake is at the base of it. You can try fishing, sit by the lake, or go swimming. This isn't a place. It's a 50+ mile driving trail it's not a tiny, curated, Disney or national park experience. It's Mother Nature! I seriously doubt there is anyone at the County of Fresno or Sierra Nevada tourism boards who even know this Yelp page exists. If there were, they probably would know how to fix it. The idea of a wildflower trail is: a route you can drive where you are LIKELY to see wildflowers during certain times of year. There are many variables that affect IF and WHEN you might see wildflowers. So stop looking for a hiking trail, fill up your tank (or battery), read up on central California wildflowers, bring a passenger with binoculars, and feel blessed if you are there at the exact few weeks when they are all blooming after an ideal rain season and perfectly timed spring weather.

You need a FREE campfire permit if you're staying there overnight available from the Hume Lake Ranger Station, but we just did a day hike. There is lots of climbing involved, you have to cross Poop Out Pass at 3.7 miles and I was dying to get to the lake cuz it felt like I had been hiking Forever. It's the highest point on the trip. The lake is at 9,000 ft and I could tell we were up high because of the headache I got. Took some aspirins then felt a bit better. The lake is nice, lots of small fishes that I couldn't see but they kept jumping out of the water I guess eating bugs. Had lunch there then turned back down the trail. You cross across some rivers by stepping on big logs. And, there are nice views of waterfalls along the way, as well as the lake itself. It is a very fun and easy hike.

It's only 2.5 miles from the trailhead, but because of the high altitude it took us longer than we expected. The lake is at 10, 050 ft. and it is absolutely gorgeous! It was also very tranquil and had we not been pressed for time, we would've liked to sit on one of the tree trunks to just relax and enjoy the scenery more. The lake is also the only place you can hike to without a permit. Don't be stupid and think you can go beyond the lake without a permit! If you get caught by the wilderness police, i.e. Park Ranger, you'll be fined $5000 and a 6 month imprisonment!!

The sunset was just an hour away so we had time to explore the area, walk to the river, enjoy the sound of the rushing water and snap photos of pretty scenery. You could easily spend a couple hours here picnicking, frolicking in the river or walking the area stopping every once in a while to gaze at the wildflowers and wilderness around you. Parking is easy (don't forget to pay the nominal fee) and DO bring a flashlight if you plan on staying past sunset...it's dark in them thar hills, canyons, wherever you are. Lovely to enjoy the silence, snap some photos and enjoy the sunset.

I started at the trailhead near Corlieu Falls, went north towards Red Rock Falls. It was a beautiful hike with some varied terrain going slightly uphill for parts of it. The fall foliage was beautiful, and it was nice to hear the running water all along the way. There is occasional highway noise since this runs parallel to the main road, but I didn't mind it. Went at 730a and didn't see another person for about two hours. Red Rock Falls was peaceful and beautiful. I crossed the stream a bit clumsily and ended up with wet feet, but it was worth it for the photos. I made my way back. Corlieu Falls had a good amount of debris around it, including part of a bridge. Round trip was less than 4 miles, and I got back in time for brunch.

Unfortunately, we had two small kids with us in tow so we didn't make it too far on the trail but I hear there are some nice waterfalls as a visual treat if you finish the trail. The trail itself had some slopes and elevations but nothing too crazy. There isn't a lot of parking available in the designated lot - we were lucky to grab a spot as someone was leaving right when we pulled up, otherwise I don't know where one would park to easily get to the trail head.
