    Bacon wrapped baked oysters

Elegant dining. Started the evening with a southern comfort Manhattan. It wasn't a great combination, and the waitress brought some garnishes afterwards to try and fix it up. Oysters of all kinds. Loved the oysters wrapped in bacon and baked. Rockfish here was terrific! Crab cakes were also full of jumbo lump crab

I came here on a Saturday night - we were able to get a reservation the same day for 8pm in the garden. The garden is really cute (although put bug spray on your ankles). They have an excellent drink menu - one of my dining companions loves the habanero marg and the other was impressed to see they had Blanton's bourbon on the menu. I had the seafood risotto for my meal. There was lots of seafood in it and it was tasty. The risotto was a little bit runny but still very enjoyable. One dining companion had the bacon stuffed trout and the other had the chorizo encrusted snakehead. Both were very happy with their meals - large portions, well done. Both dishes were unique and allowed them to try something different and new. The real star of the show was the chocolate bread pudding that our served recommended to us. It had almost souffle consistency and delicious flavor. The server was very pleasant. Overall, a great choice for a nice dinner.

I attend fine dining restaurants frequently, but this restaurants was one of the best restaurants I have been to. Went for valentine's day. It was a set menu with a wine pairing. Everything was phenomenal, including the service. Wine pairing was perfect with each meal. Each meal consisted of something different which was nice. I was the perfect amount of full after too. 10/10 recommended and would go again.

Friendly staff (shout out to our server, Josef) and flavorful, impeccably-presented food. Loved the cozy rooms (we sat at a window table in the bar) and collegial atmosphere, too. The fried oyster appetizer was piping hot and the perfect small plate for a light lunch.

We arrived without a reservation and were fortunate to get a table (owner was checking on the hostess stand and said he could make it work - thanks much!). Mondays offer few food options in Chestertown so The Kitchen fills up fast. The restaurant is beautiful with small more formal rooms, a larger brick-floored "sun porch" space that can accommodate larger groups and a lovely outdoor Southern garden patio. You can also peek into the kitchen as you go from front to back of house. We were on the patio. Food was good - roasted Brussels were a bit salty but the aioli cut that (a downer for my friend who ordered them since she is anti-aioli - good for me since I could eat what she left behind), The Kitchen Corn Chowder was good (but I wanted remarkable being at the Eastern Shore) and the Halibut with corn, tomato and lump crab was quite good - beautifully cooked fish (but ironically may have needed a hint more salt). Served on REMARKABLE potatoes and (cumin?) green beans with good crunch. A friend ordered the lamb shank and the meat fell off the bone - no need for a knife there - he raved! It was hot and we drank water faster than the waiter could keep up but they had not expected our walk-in party of three so they may have also been spread thin. I would try this place again for the environment and other menu options because there were several that appealed to me but may also be open to checking out some other spots in this Eastern Shore town so I can better compare.

Super impressed. In my opinion truly the best restaurant in Chestertown on High Street in the historic district. This is where Mamma V wanted to eat. If you're a foodie this is your place. LOL Large party for brunch on Easter Sunday and everything was really good. We had a 2 1/2-hour brunch with nothing rushed and all the food timed correctly. Good food takes time. Bonus that the Chef checked on our table to make sure all the food is correct. I would have liked to have eaten in the outdoor courtyard but it's still too cold. But there were a few tables out there with the heat lamps. The appetizers we shared "kitchen crab dip", "Siracha mayo French Fries", "crispy Brussel sprouts", and "Sherwin's Steak Tartare" were all delicious. I had the "Salmon Benedict" with home fries which I definitely recommend. Our table ordered avocado toast, Caesar salads, house salads with shrimp, omelets, fruit and eggs benedict. There were no complaints from our table only comments of how good the food was, and that the avocado toast was enough for two people. My only wish is that the brunch menu offered more lunch items because I wake up so early that by noon, I'm ready for lunch. We shared an assortment of desserts almond torte, chocolate bread pudding, and creme brulee. My favorite was the almond torte, which was delicious.

On one hand I want to try again for dinner but for the price, I'm not sure it's worth it. Pros: Amazing service - very attentive server(s); we had one in training/shadowing and she was just as good as our primary server, offering refills, clearing plates, overall greet banter Cocktails are fantastic - had the Minnie Ripperton and loved it - creamy yet refreshing and bright which is a tough combo to achieve Cons: Hidden entrance - after circling what looked like an abandoned building 2x we finally figured out the entrance was in the backy and down a set of stairs. I now understand the "speakeasy vibe" but the clutter in the front made the building look abandoned or under construction; not a great start to the experience for us Food service - the other couple we were dining with got their entrees about 10 minutes before ours and we were some of the first orders & diners of the day. Usually you might hold the whole table or refire some of the dishes so it all comes out at the same time. They finished theirs before we even got our to start, making it a strange eating experience Small print menu - with the low light of the speakeasy, the menu had the teeeeniest print I've ever seen making it very difficult to read the menu options. We also didn't realize that the menu changes/is seasonal (not called out on the website) so many of the items we had wanted to try were not an available option. I love a menu that changes but hope it's indicated on the website (aka: sample menu, subject to seasonal change) Hit-n-miss: Fried chicken Benedict- huge portions, amazing biscuits and perfectly poached (but unseasoned?) eggs. I don't know if the hollandaise soaked into the fried chicken or never existed at all - and that's the thing you want with a Benedict. If it existed, it never reached the biscuits because while they were good, but were completely dry Shrimp and grits - perfectly cooked, great consistency, but very under-seasoned Water - just an observation and maybe it's just the local tap water flavor but it tasted off or as off the soap hadn't been washed from the glasses Pro Tip: be aware of the automatic gratuity in some circumstances; if you don't know, check the website before your meal!

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.
