Stacey was an absolute delight to have wait on us. We arrived in the middle of the day on Saturday and it was a very busy, but we got seated right away. I had a delicious cocktail of the day blueberry & lemon. Stacey was very knowledgeable about the menu. They did have limited crabs so we got the mediums as that was the only one that was available, but they were heavy and delicious and fairly priced. We keep our boat right next door at Rock Hall landing and this restaurant is always one of our favorite stops! The views are absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere is perfect for relaxing after being out on the water. The bartenders, Mike, Melissa & Angie, are awesome, they always make us feel welcome and take great care of us. And you have to try the wings and hush puppies... they're seriously the best! Really good! It's open and it's delicious. Pretty unassuming inside and pretty great food. I got the ahi tuna appetizer and Greek salad and the ahi was fantastic. Everyone raved about it at the table. Others got a burger, mushroom hoagie, caesar salad (her favorite of the trip), and pulled pork sandwich. They all liked their meals! Guys, this is a forever thing here failing to get the basic stuff right for two of your most lenient customers. My wife and I waited 45 minutes for a table (totally understandable on a beautiful holiday weekend evening). We tried to order cocktails, but the brown water coming from the taps made that impossible (sucks, but out of the restaurant's control). We were finally seated and she ordered the fish tacos (one of the easiest orders to fulfill at a seafood joint...should have been a warning sign that the clearly AI-slopified menu listed the kind of fish as "Fish"), and out came cold tortillas filled with lumps of dry slaw and tomatoes but no fish. The server took it off of the receipt before misquoting us the full price on the receipt (thankfully rectified before we actually paid). Please tell your folks in the kitchen that if they're running out of something not to try to pawn a deficient version of the dish as something a customer should pay for. We won't be coming here again. Edit: There are many other great places to go in Rock Hall before settling for Waterman's, including Blue Heron Oyster House, Harbor Shack, Flying Decoy, Ford's Seafood, Osprey Point Inn, and Rock Hall Brewing Company. read more

The deck is huge, lined with picnic tables and hightops and (unless there's a band), the tables will turn and you'll have a great time. The 75' bar will quench your thirst with strong mixed drinks and 4 taps. They could use more help behind the bar, but the lean staffing makes you feel like a champ to finally walk away with your drinks. read more

We have been going to Waterman's for over 25 years. We enjoy the view, especially when we can get a table in the summer next to the water, we enjoy watching the boats come and go, and we typically enjoy the food. But over the past year, things have changed. Prices are extremely high for what you are served and it just feels different, too. It used to be crowded all the time. Since the new owners have taken over, prices have risen and today, for the second time, we paid $130 for a dozen of what were supposed to be "large" crabs. Not even close! I brought this to the attention of our server who replied, "Geez, I'm really sorry about that. I'll mention it to the kitchen." That was it. No follow up. Nothing! Don't get me wrong, prices have risen everywhere and I don't mind paying a little more for food - as long as I don't feel like I am getting ripped off. This was not one of those times - very disappointing! On top of that, I watched some of the staff during our visit. Three young people pretty much stood at the hostess stand the entire time (2 hours) we were there. It was not a busy Sunday and you would think these employees could be doing something to help out our overextended server. Instead of just standing around waiting to put paper on table for crab eaters, or standing around waiting for someone to show up to be seated, why not get busy wrapping utensils in napkins, or fill the condiments in the buckets on each table, or clean off chairs vacated by patrons who were finished eating???? Something! I'm not sure we'll go back to Waterman's. What a shame. Driving for at least 90 minutes from Wilmington 5-6 times a year for over 25 years and spending at least $150 on each dining experience might have ended. Maybe we can find a new place where you don't feel like you're being taken advantage of. read more

We visited over Labor Day weekend. We knew it would be busy, so we planned to be there and be patient. But the service was horrible. Drinks never showed. Food was very slow. They brought out a fried flounder sandwich, which was fish on a roll with nothing else; a crab cake on a roll with nothing else, and an undercooked chicken sandwich. About 10 minutes after we sent back the chicken and asked for toppings for the sandwiches, the server came to clarify whether we wanted anything else to replace it. After we said yes, 15 minutes went by before the server told us it would be another 10 minutes to replace the undercooked chicken sandwich. A manager helped us near the end, but by then, several hours in, it was too little too late. I realize this is a casual place on the water, but if the owners aren't going to train their staff and/or hire enough staff, they shouldn't be seating tables. We'll be back for drinks and music and the view, but we'll be skipping the food. read more

So on August 23rd at around 11:30 am I called them to see what the ayce price is. They stated $25, only stipulation being you have 2 hours to eat. Which is fine. After the first call, I spoke to my friends and family because no one believed it was $25, neither did I really. So I called a second time and got the exact same answer, $25. I even asked if she was sure and she said yes. With that said, we (5 of us) drove 1.5 hours to go there with my friends and family excited to eat crabs. When we got there we stood at the hostess table for what felt like eternity. The hostesses seemed to be doing rocket science or something...i don't know. Took well over 15 minutes to seat us and there were ample open tables and it was not overly busy. Incompetency at the hostess stand for sure. Then we finally get to sit and got drinks. Got the drinks which were ok except the bloody Mary which was watered down gross. The waitress then proceeds to tell us the ayce is $40 a person and the crabs are light and paper thin shells!!!! We all looked at each other like, WTF did she just say?!?! Then after that, she says we can get a dozen of jumbos for $130 a dozen though.....lol. We laughed out loud, paid, got up, and left. Screw that noise. Lastly, we went down the road a couple to few miles and stopped at Larry's Bait and Tackle. We got a half a bushel of numbers ones, they were big too, for only $75. Went home and cooked them. They were phenomenal. Do not go to Watermans it's a rip off for crabs. The rest of the menu looked great though.....get it together guys! read more

Understood our issue, kept checking with the bar. They wound up comping our drinks, which was very nice. They really need some bar management!!! Brought our party of 10 to Waterman's on a Sunday evening. Reservations are made either online or by phone call & we were seated immediately when we arrived. The restaurant is right on the water with beautiful views. They have multiple patio seats with umbrellas as well as picnic tables under a covered pavilion. The noise level was a bit much sitting under the pavilion with other children around us. Jose was our server and he gave great recommendations and made sure to check on us often! We ordered 16 large crabs which tasted amazing except they were room temperature and we wished they were hotter. The hush puppies were a hit, I love when they have real corn in them. The seared ahi was more like cooked ahi, barely any pink in the middle. The fish and chips were very standard, and the seafood nachos were huge and tasted great. The chicken chessie sandwich wasn't the best, the chicken was dry and the crab dip tasted like straight cheese. The rockfish special was delicious & and the drinks were refreshing! The food came out fast, I appreciated our amazing server, and the views were immaculate. The food is pretty mediocre but it's worth it to sit and eat on the water! read more

Terrible experience. We ordered wings appetizers, a dozen crabs with hushpuppies, and a pitcher of beer. They brought the hush puppies out in 15 minutes and not with the crabs. It took them 40 minutes to bring out the pitcher of beer. 20 minutes later they brought out the wings appetizers with the crabs. The crabs were not hot, were overcooked, and were dry. They did not bring out vinegar or butter with the crabs and took another 10 minutes to deliver them. The ambiance is great but everything else was a disaster. read more

Not too impressed with Waterman's. It's a nice location on the waterfront and the service was friendly enough. But the food was nothing special. The crab cakes were very small for $18 for a single cake. I also had the beet and arugula salad, which was very good. At the recommendation of the waitress, my wife had the special crab cake parmesan. The marinara was not very good and overwhelmed the crab cake. Probably should have known it wasn't a good idea to serve crab cakes this way but the waitress really praised it. My wife also had a daiquiri, which is not a usual drink for her but she said it sounded good. It wasn't. Very sweet, topped with whipped cream and no discernible taste of rum. The third person in our party had fish and chips, which looked very good. It was a large portion and she took some home with her. All of the dinnerware was plastic - cups, small plates, dinner plates. It seemed very cheap for not very cheap food. We don't get to this area much but, if we're back, we'll look elsewhere for seafood. read more

I ordered the Cream of Crab Soup at Waterman's. This should be a staple in an Eastern Shore eatery but this was an amazing disappointment. A soup called cream of crab should have a velvety, cream liquid with crab. It should be self leveling, not a mound of gelatinous glue like mass mounded in a bowl. My soup arrived luke warm. Thinking it might improve of it was heated, I sent it back. Nope. Still disgusting. I don't think there was any dairy product in the soup. The waitress was fine. The chef needs to be replaced. Cream of crab soup should have milk or cream thickened with a rue of butter and flour that is cooked to enrich its flavor. This soup seemed more like wall paper paste thickened with corn starch. A touch of sherry would be nice and that was to be included but there were no hints of sherry in my bowl. Sad for Waterman's. Have eaten there for years and know they have gone from good to mediocre but this was their biggest low. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful special occasion Sunday dinner meal at Waterman's this afternoon, after having attended the Sultana Downrigging Festival. Waterman's is under new ownership & has a new management team (as of May 2023). You can tell the interior has all been spruced up and re-imagined, and the food and service were wonderful. We were there for a birthday celebration. My friend ordered the prime rib, which she said was really delicious. I had the seafood trio (scallops, crabcake, & shrimp), which was fantastic. They have a nice list of side items to choose from. The views are amazing. The food came out quickly & our server, Keri C., checked on us frequently. The fall foliage was gorgeous, and it was a nice, easy ride up there (coming from Annapolis). Definitely put Waterman's at the top of your list for a day trip. It is a perfect way to end an afternoon cruising through the picturesque Eastern Shore towns of Centerville, Chestertown, & Rock Hall. read more

I usually post positive reviews, but this beautiful water view restaurant is only worth the view. It was a Thursday and beautiful day so we selected this restaurant because of the view and menu selection. The had several waitresses and not many customers. Our drinks came fast, but AFTER waiting 45 minutes for fish tacos and receiving no updates from the absent waitress or from presumably a manager who asked if we had been waited on. Went to this spot last night & was pleasantly surprised. The outside doesn't do it justice! Inside is clean, white table cloths, cloth napkins... but still has a family vibe. Right on the water! Huge deck for boaters!!! Great specials! $6 crushes on Monday's, we had a few & all were yummy. Food was good too. Fish &chips, ribs (on special) and crabby chicken sandwich!
