These folks are awesome! they completely remodeled our Riverside drive NYC kitchen and saved us a fortune compared to what cabinet makers wanted to build out a kitchen. They advised that we use the best surfaces (floors, granite tops, and appliances.) coupled with Ikea cabinetry and it worked beautifully! I just completed my kitchen with the help of the Kitchen Couple, a star duo who really knows their stuff. They are worth every penny you pay them. I have remodeled two kitchens with Ikea. The first remodeling I did with Traemond, which was a painful experience. While it was a small kitchen they just made multiple mistakes and had a bad attitude. I hesitated to use Ikea again just because of the traemond experience. I loved my kitchen but the process was too painful. For my new apartment I decided to use the kitchen couple, who made it a fun and easy experience. They are amazing. What a different (meaning excellent) experience. Bonnie is a great designer and knows her stuff. She offers creative suggestions, designs quickly and is an excellent listener. She offers well thought through opinions (based on A LOT of Ikea design experience) and respects that the end design is up to you. Bonnie both designed and purchased our kitchen. She set up delivery and was there for me when I had questions and concerns. Then there is Ron, who is a catalogue of Ikea knowledge. The man knows his hex screw. Our kitchen was large ~ we had about 200 boxes of Ikea kitchen items delivered. ...and like magic Ron finished our kitchen perfectly IN 3 DAYS!!! He is a true expert in his craft. I was utterly impressed. He is also creative and came up with thoughtful tweaks on site. If you are going to use Ikea, you need to hire the kitchen couple. How CAN these people still be in business. I thought I was getting Ron to install my galley kitchen. Instead, they sent a giant of a man - a young construction worker with NO residential experience. He bashed in the side of my brand-new refrigerator. He left the packing screws on the dishwasher - when it was rolled in, they ruined the new tile floor. He damaged my hardwood floors, doing work on them without the protective blankets he was given. He cut out the countertop crookedly and then installed the sink at an angle. When I insisted that Ron do whatever repairs could be made, Bonnie wailed, "But this has to be a learning experience for our employee!" As I say, I cannot BELIEVE they are still in business. When Bonnie saw this review, she asked me for full particulars. Not to make amends to me, but to help her (!) re-train her employee. Some things never change. read more

Our kitchen was installed by Ron. I cannot say how satisfied we are. He was fast, efficient and did the job perfectly. He even had a spare part that was missing from our order. This is the best experience we had with a contractor thus far. Don't hesitate to hire them. They can install an Ikea kitchen in their sleep. read more

I know people say that couples argue most about money and sex, but the thing that always sends me and my man to the mat is when we try to assemble anything from Ikea. So when we decided to install an Ikea kitchen, I knew immediately that in the interest of keeping our relationship alive, we would hire someone else to do the deed. So glad we did. Bonnie and Ron did a great job. Ikea was switching out their kitchen systems at the time, which led to some delays, but that wasn't their fault. It was Ikea's. Bonnie walked me through the design process, talked me down when I thought installing Moorish arches might be the way to go, and worked with my weirdo vision to come up with a design that's a little offbeat, but will still help, not hinder, our resale value. (No Moorish arches though.) We have a tiny galley kitchen and it's now a joy to work in. Taso, the contractor they use, did a great job on demoing, plumbing, electrical, and even installing a Moroccan tile backsplash. Ron whipped the cabinets right into shape--he didn't even need Ikea's useless instruction booklets. When Ikea was out of stock on something, he worked with what we could get and it looks amazing. We couldn't be happier and I endorse these guys without hesitation. read more

If you are getting a kitchen from IKEA and you hire the Kitchen Couple to do your design and installation then your IKEA kitchen will look ten times more expensive and beautiful than you imagined possible. Im serious. Even better than the showroom at Ikea. you'd be crazy to pay anyone else to install for you, the kitchen couple have done this for 20 years and will overcome any obstacle or glitch to make the installation work. Kitchen Couple, Yes! Taso, NO! Can't say enough good things about Ron and Bonnie. He was punctual, efficient, did excellent work--all on budget. She was helpful, friendly, and helped come up with a fantastic design. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the other contractor they work with. By all means do NOT allow Taso to do the electrical/plumbing. He's the anti-Ron. He's not licensed. He was fast, but sloppy. In the time since our lovely kitchen was completed, the only problems we've had are with the work he did (and just about everything he did). So definitely get the Kitchen Couple for your cab install, but find your own electrical, plumbing, tile people. read more

I contracted The Kitchen Couple to design and install a brand new kitchen in my house in downtown Brooklyn. Bonnie was a joy to work with and after giving her a few thoughts I had in mind, she came back with a great looking design. After a little back and forth, the final design was hammered out! It consisted primarily of Ikea components of course, but also plenty of custom bits, including two custom wine racks. They then took care of all the Ikea purchasing. I took delivery of all components, and the next step was Ron and his crew coming in to do the install. The installation went very smoothly. Everyone was courteous, communicative, and kept everything as tidy as possible, which was great given the custom work needed - a lot of component cutting and assembling. They also made sure to check in with me for on-site decisions before committing, such as door handle placement and other matters of preference. Everything was finished in about 30 hours, spread over 4 days. It's all done save for little bits of finish, and looks absolutely fantastic! I really could not be happier with The Kitchen Couple. They are nice, accommodating, communicative, make great designs and execute them just as well. If you need a kitchen in the NY area, I really cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

This review is long overdue. I had a new construction project that was a result of hurricane Sandy and I could not afford any more drama. Let me start with Bonnie and the planning process. I came to her with some designs I had started and she challenged me in the best possible way about why I had put cabinets/drawers in certain places. She made terrific recommendations about better ways to lay things out and utilize my space. She was terrific to communicate with and was always on top of things. When it came time to order she took care of that and everything was perfect (Ron did great job of measuring to get it right). Next, Ron's team of 3 (led by Chris) was so efficient in laying out all the cabinets and getting things organized. In 3 days they had completed my kitchen 99%. The other 1% was to be completed after the countertops were installed and floors were stained. Chris returned to finish things up and I couldn't be more pleased with the final outcome. Nobody can believe that my beautiful kitchen is from Ikea and I would highly recommend the Kitchen Couple for the job. Friendly, knowledgable, efficient, great job and the price was not excessive. Buying a kitchen from Ikea is definitely not for the 'faint at heart.' That said, after spending hours trying to buy cabinets back in 2008 I asked if there was a list of installers, I was given several business cards and after speaking with a few I decided to hire the Kitchen Couple. The Kitchen Couple has been great. We are in the home stretch of a giant kitchen gut remodel (as well as most of our 110 year-old house). Bonnie and Ron are top-notch professionals who have earned a solid reputation in the tri-state area. Bonnie spent considerable time on my project and she charges a flat rate! So if your design is smaller I imagine she is just as thorough. While I had a good idea of what I wanted and used Ikea's online planner, Bonnie designed a much better kitchen than I ever could have. She KNOWS her stuff and the ins and outs of Ikea materials and the best way to get through a remodel using IKEA stuff. She also recommended specific appliances, sinks, cabinet hardware at very good price points - even though they were not Ikea...Our kitchen looks amazing - and it isn't even finished yet. Ron is fast, clean, polite, on budget, and on time. It is a pleasant surprise to have such a painless experience with a contractor! I wish all of them could be as good. I have worked with The Kitchen Couple three times now and I could not imagine working with anyone else. Bonnie is amazing. She has helped me design two kitchens and two kitchen islands so far. Her understanding of 'layout' and 'functionality' and 'overall appearance' is first class. Bonnie is extremely patient and helpful and very friendly. She is efficient and consistent and has helped me navigate my way through designing and ordering and installing two Ikea kitchens for two different locations and I could not be happier. We decided to go with Ikea cabinets for our kitchen. Luckily, the Kitchen Couple were recommended to me by a co-worker to do the design and installation. This was a truly great experience. From the design to the cabinet purchasing and installation this was flawless. Bonnie was so responsive to every question, no matter how trivial. All the Ikea pieces she ordered came on time and perfect. The installation itself took 3 days!! Fast and very well done. A contractor friend commented on the quality of the work that was done. This was the best experience I've had dealing with contractors, by far. I wanted to replace kitchen cabinets while keeping the existing layout and spent a lot of time doing my own planning. My husband convinced me to pay Bonnie for design services and I am so happy he did. Bonnie came up with a much better design, and explained how moving the refrigerator and the stove was not going to add a lot to the budget while creating a much better layout. She was absolutely right and I am very happy I listened to her. She also suggested a few custom touches, and utilized every square inch of space; and was VERY patient with us throughout the whole process . She also recommended a place for buying a granite countertop (not IKEA) and we were very happy with the price and quality. Ron was always on time and did an excellent job. I asked for a modification of the under the sink cabinet which wasn't in the contract and he did a wonderful job. Finally, we needed a couple of adjustments AFTER the completion of the project. We emailed Ron and he responded almost immediately and showed up the next day. We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen! read more

Our experiences with the Kitchen Couple have been very similar to the other reviews here that gave them 5 stars. We contacted Bonnie initially about the design. She was very patient and helpful in talking us through the process. Based on some initial conversations she came up with a design for us. We have a small kitchen within a small apartment and we were amazed by the creativity with which she worked with the space, to produce a result with more counter space and more cupboards, and yet that fells bigger and roomier than it did before. We also took advantage of the Kitchen Couple's purchasing service, and were left wondering how anyone without skill and experience in this area could possibly purchase all the components for themselves - when the delivery showed up it consisted of about 300 separate items, most of which looked utterly mysterious to me. In all aspects of the design and then the installation (which of course Ron does), it was clear to us what an amount of experience they bring to the work and how much that experience matters. Taso, the contractor with whom they generally work, did an excellent job with the floor tile and the backsplash; he also bought a number of electrical components for us and kept the receipts. On one occasion we had an emergency with the plumbing - and on a Sunday afternoon Taso came from a funeral to help us out. Renovations are unavoidably stressful and difficult, but we are very glad to say that our experiences with the Kitchen Couple absolutely matched the five star reviews on this page: they were friendly, efficient, professional, and skillful, and we could not be happier with the results. read more
