I had to settle my claim with the insurance company another contactor on my own to complete the repairs. Two months later, after the incident, the repairs have been made.

When I had spoken to him on the phone he said there may be a slightly different color if we do just the one room. So before he came out, I asked if he can get us both quotes. He came out when I wasn't home but my wife was. He didn't measure anything. Look at the room where the damage was and left. He didn't look at the rest of the upstairs. I didn't get a message for him so I texted him. He gave me a quote for the one room. I asked, do you have a quote for how much it would be for the whole upstairs. He said he didn't look at the other room upstairs. I described the size of the other room upstairs and he texted back with a quote. I asked if you can send me in writing the 2 quotes. He said he has to charge me $150 for the quotes. Then I said, "What? Why?" He never responded. Just in case he didn't see it, I text him again the next day. He didn't respond again. Extremely disappointed with him and his lack of response.

The third time was a disaster and they could not have been less accountable or less accommodating. In short, Kanters sent us the wrong colored LVT flooring, which even if we were willing to accept it, was defective and not capable of being installed. In any event, my wife and I were immediately willing to accept a different color LVT flooring that Kanters had in stock so that our construction was not set back weeks (we still had to pay our contractor for two days of work reserved to install this flooring, which now could not occur). Rather than doing what was necessary to immediately deliver this new LVT flooring, Kanters said it did not have staff to do that but eventually "agreed" to allow my wife and I to do all the manual labor ourselves (picking up 25 boxes weighing 60+ lbs each). Making it almost comical, Kanters had the gall to ask that we also bring back the 25 boxes of wrong colored and defective flooring so that they could get their money back from the manufacturer (which we did). Thus, my wife and I performed a half day of manual labor to correct Kanters' mistake because, apparently, they do not have adequate staff. When we asked for a credit, this is a quote from Brian Kanter: "These type of positions are the reasons that most small business no longer exists in our world. For some reason society has the belief that perfection exists and that a manufacture never makes a defective product or sends the wrong product. I wish that was the case but it's just a fantasy." Mr. Kanter went on to equate us transporting 50 boxes of extremely heavy flooring to the time he had to return a broken TV to Best Buy. In other words, don't expect that what you get will be what you ordered or even correct. In the end, the "credit" they offered was that they were not going to charge us extra for having to pick new carpet to match the different colored flooring (something he admitted they otherwise normally do). I think the moral is shop here at your own risk. If everything goes fine they are a run of the mill flooring company. They hardly answer their phones and take days to respond to emails. But, if things go poorly, you better expect that they will shift the blame to their manufacturer and/or to you. They will not be out of pocket - you will (just as we are).

He gave me what I considered to be a fair price per square foot (based on my research of average pricing for wood floor refinishing) over the phone and was able to meet me that same day to get exact measurements. He was very accommodating to my schedule understanding that I wasn't currently living in the apartment and needed some extra travel time. The meeting was efficient and painless. He asked all the right questions and did not waste my time. He took down my email address and told me that he would email me the estimate. Richard was the only person to send me estimated costs in advance, provide me with images to consider finishes before hand. He was on time to the initial site meeting to take measurements and provide a detailed estimate. He was approachable, replied to emails quickly and gave me a sense of confidence that won him the job. I eliminated one company for missing the initial meeting (he called to say he'd be 2 hours late - this is unacceptable to me). I had them remove a partial wall, patch what was left over, and sand and refinish the floors. The guys on the site were great, punctual and reliable. They provided on site samples of the finishes for me to make a selection. (I would ask for this in advance if you want to see multiple colors/tones). The job took 4 days from start to finish, and was completed on time, as promised. Richard's price was competitive and the work was well done. They were respectful and listened to my concerns, described the work in detail and let me know what they would work on each day. I feel confident in recommending them to anyone. At first, I didn't really notice it, but then little by little, the place became unmanageable. It got to a point where I hated going home because I felt like I was walking into pigsty and it depressed me. After trying to ignore the issue, I reached a point where I decided I needed to do something because ignoring the problem was not going to fix it; and if I wanted to change the way I felt about my messy home, I needed to either spend the time cleaning or spend some money hiring a professional to help me. I'd never hired a professional cleaning service before and practically speaking, I initially had three concerns: (1) where do I find one? (2) can I even afford it? and; (3) can I find a trustworthy company where I feel safe entrusting them with my keys to come in and clean my place while I'm not home. As for my first question, I literally didn't know where to start. Eventually, I managed to find my way to Yelp and looked up services that are near me. I'm in Edgewater and based on my location, it recommended 4 places, so I requested a quote from all 4. Express Cleaning Team was the last to respond to my query but I'm really glad they did because it solved my second concern: cost. I originally had an idea of how much I wanted to spend but after receiving quotes from the first 3 services, I was left feeling disappointed because it was WAY beyond what I wanted to budget for a weekly appointment. It turned out that ECT's rates are so reasonable and affordable, my only regret is not having looked into this much sooner. All I had to do was to fill out their booking form on their website. Once I completed their dozen or so questions, I was quoted less than $100 a week to clean my two bedroom/one bathroom apartment. Now that I knew there was a service near my home that fit my budget, the only thing I had left to determine was whether I could trust them enough to give them a copy of my keys to clean the apartment when I'm at work. I wanted to make sure, so once I got an email confirmation from Jimmy, I asked him if it were possible to meet someone from the company on a weekend when I was home. Despite being outside of their business hours, his wife Fary graciously agreed to come by on Saturday to meet me and personally clean my apartment. I mean, how amazing and awesome is that?! It was her day off, but she still nonetheless took the time to come to my home just to meet me, give me the peace of mind, and did a truly AMAZING job. I didn't stay the entire time she was there but when I came home later that night, I was left speechless. I was so stunned and grateful for the care and attention that was clearly spent because everything was perfect. Honestly, it was like every little thing was carefully put in its place and every surface was expertly cleaned. You could easily tell how much care and attention was spent making sure I came home happy. If you're reading this review, you may be interested in hiring a cleaning service but have similar concerns about actually hiring one like I did. If so, I hope this helps in your calculus for reaching a decision. I was very pleased in my decision to hire ECT and I'm certain that going forward, I will actually want to come home instead on being depressed whenever I walk through my door.

It was a little tough to decide on 3 or 4 stars with this company, but I decided on 4 because I…read morebelieve that the main part of the project was done WELL, and with integrity. Nicky, who I believe is the owner of a small business, made me an offer that was much more expensive than the other 4 quotes I had gotten through Yelp. He was available the following day, but I noticed that he had no reviews on Yelp. That alone is a concern of mine, so I told him it's a "no-go" if he's the most expensive guy with no reviews. He basically let me name a fair price, so I kind of low-balled him because of the no-reviews thing. I told him I'd leave him a thorough and fair review if I used him, and we both accepted. Nicky showed up the next day on time. That was pretty easy, as he left himself a 4-hour window, whereas other companies were asking for a 2-hour arrival window. No biggie, but that could be a concern for someone with a busy schedule. He did wear a mask upon leaving the car, and told me I didn't have to (which I appreciated). He wound up taking it off later with my permission, and I have a lot of respect for his asking. Like many service providers, he was very willing to "double park" in our co-op's private parking lot, where he's not even supposed to park at all. I thought that was presumptuous and inconsiderate, but I directed him to a spot in the lot that I know to be unregistered to anyone. Nicky was quick to get set up. I checked in on him more than a few times during the service and he was good to go. My situation was not ideal, as the vent where the dryer unit's exhaust exits my garden apartment is smack-dab right above a steel awning that covers my entrance. If it wasn't for this awning, I'd have done the cleaning myself. So he needed to get a tall ladder and set it up alongside this awning (which is maybe 4' wide), and at times, lean over the awning to remove the vent cover, which was attached with screws. (See photo of vent cover.) The one thing that I really did appreciate about Nicky was this: In the middle of the job, when he finished using his pro vacuum from inside my apartment, he decided to use his brush going in from the outside, from the ladder at the awning. If he didn't do this, I wouldn't have known any better. I thought it took great integrity to do the right thing in this instance, since that part of the job is very difficult, and somewhat dangerous. At one point, he asked me to hold down the bottom of his ladder, which I gladly did, and I think that's when he was putting back the vent cover... which leads me to my main complaint. Earlier, he showed me how he used a small piece of black tape to keep the vent closed for some reason. I didn't know what he was showing me that for, and didn't go into it because Nicky speaks with a little bit of an accent and was sometimes just a little difficult to understand. Upon paying him (I'm glad he had a credit-card reader to attach to his phone), I allowed him to charge me an extra $25 because he had done a good job. At the end, he asked me if I wanted to leave an extra tip, and I was like, "Bro, that's what the extra $25 you charged me was for." Maybe I'm a dick. I don't know. After he left, I noticed the black tape all over the vent cover. Will it stay? Probably... I don't know. Does it look pretty? Hell no. Would I have been OK with it if he had ASKED me? I'm really not sure. It's much easier to remove screws than it is to put them back in, generally. But I really would have appreciated his letting me know before I paid. I would have held on to that extra $25, as I have to remember this every time I come home now. Honestly, I would definitely have used Nicky again if my job were an easier one, but I can't get passed the black tape thing, and the lack of communication surrounding that issue. I think that--if you have a standard project that lacks some crazy kind of challenge--Nicky is fine for the job. Despite countless emails, phones calls and texts, the job was not completed to any level of satisfaction. They offered to help fix the issue, but not in a timeline that was convenient for work purposes and stated that "they did the job asked". I had to hire a new cleaner and requests for a reasonable refund were ignored. I would NOT recommend.

They were also very receptive to feedback regarding products, equipment, and any spots I had concerns about. They went above and beyond for my basement flood clean up and spent extra time working (for free) to clean some of the spots that I wasn't even expecting them to do! Overall, I am very satisfied with the job that they did. I do believe that they needed slightly more equipment than they had to complete the job in the time frame they intended to which is the reason for the 4 stars. However, they completed the job in a timely manner and ensured it was to my liking before they left!

She checked in with me before she finished to make sure I was happy with the level of clean. My apartment was sparkly clean when she left. The only reason I am not giving them five stars is that I on the morning I was originally scheduled to have a cleaning, the company let me know that the person who was supposed to come called in sick and they were going to have to send someone 3 hours later. Unfortunately, that wouldn't work with my schedule so I had to reschedule. Then the woman who came the second time showed up an hour late. She said she had been outside the building but didn't have my cell number to call me and had to wait for someone to come out. This was unfortunate because I left instructions that I don't have a call box and that my cell needed to be called to let the cleaner in. Once someone was finally in the apartment, they did a great job.

I used this…read moreservice twice and had a great experience, but now months later, they no-showed twice and are not responding to my emails inquiring about the refund they were supposed to issue weeks ago. PREVIOUS POST (before they no-showed a second time and failed to issue the refund they promised) I've used this service 3 times now. They do a great job and bring their own cleaning supplies. There was a tech issue with my third appointment, and the customer service in rectifying it was incredible, they offered to refund and also set up a follow up cleaning appointment. It is the best customer service I've experienced in a long time!
