We are truly thankful to see them continue to provide quality service and yummy eats. This venue provides a local feel and a great heart. An okay place to grab a drink after being out on the Clarion river or out in the trees of Cook Forest. Moreso a biker bar than a family place. I don't expect much from places in small, more tourist-based towns, ESPECIALLY during/ post-Covid, but unfortunately I still have to give this spot 2 stars. We ordered a handful of burgers and sandwiches, everything came out almost cold or slightly above room temp. Everything else was also like, okay. Edible, we were hungry, it got the job done. Beers were cold, in bottles, and we left relatively happy campers (no pun intended!). Wouldn't recommend for food, but the bar looked fine! **Note: I feel like every review I write for 2020 and beyond has to be taken with a grain of salt and understanding. Covid has changed a LOT in this industry and I know everyone is doing their best!  My reviews are just that - my experiences so you know what to expect - but everything is worth giving a shot at least once!** read more

I highly recommend avoiding dining here. I gave two stars because the place was clean and the service was fine. Unfortunately the food was incredibly underwhelming: the burger was small, the wings had no meat on them (for $2 a wing), the pizza was frozen, and the apps were beyond greasy. It's a local dive bar not the ritz. I liked it. The service is prompt and friendly, locals were welcoming. What a refreshing change from the the taverns downstate. Had drinks and appetizers wing dings, ravioli, cauliflower and broccoli all fried what better comfort food on a cold day. Drink prices were very reasonable. If you want a clean and a fair priced food give this a chance. Note: this is a not a smoke-free bar. read more

Been coming here for about 3 or 4 years... USED TO love Knotty Pines. But, the prices seem to have gone up and service quality down. All the bartenders are so rude. Also, be careful that they're not ripping you off... What I do shots of is $4. The one bartender charged me $5 (four times) I didn't know that bartenders could set the prices as they see fit! (Next time I was there, I asked the owner how much it costs... Just to make sure). The wait time for anyone to even acknowledge your presence is ridiculous. The only good thing is Eddie the Emu and some of the other customers... It can be a fun atmosphere if the other BS doesn't get to you. It's a shame... Very sad. read more

Wow. Talk about unfriendly service. Our waitress yelled across our table to the bar while throwing our menus down. It took at least 20 mins for our drinks. When she did finally come back for our order she rolled her eyes when my husband asked if they had soup today. Our food was practically thrown on our table as the waitress zoomed by. As another table came in she yelled to them that she'd get to them eventually. After a very long time she brought two of us our food. The third person in our party finally got her food ten mins after us. The burger we ordered was cold. The bun was soggy. My fries came out as chips and our sodas were flat. Needless to say we won't be back. Terrible service. The food was subpar. The staff makes you feel unwelcome. read more

Stopped in after a long, cold day hiking in Cook Forest. Heard various reviews raving about the wings, they did not disappoint! Typical local bar, everyone was extremely friendly, we even had a round of drinks bought for us by some of the locals. You are allowed to smoke in the bar, so if you are bothered easily by cigarette smoke this is not the place for you. Be sure to say hi to Eddy the Emu out back! read more

Don't do it...just don't. Cigarette smoke everywhere....the food they serve has Ebola for sure. The owner of the place owns an Emu that is nestled next to this place. It is sad to see this Emu in poor living conditions and such a small enclosure. People from the town had informed me it lives outdoor all year round through all sorts of weather. Its sad. read more

This rustic bar was originally Scotty's restaurant many years ago and suffers from poor interior layout, i.e. very confined and hard to move around in. You either sit at the long narrow bar where you all face the wall, or you sit back in the restaurant with a pool table jammed between you. Either way, you're not moving much once you're in. Staff (some of whom live above the bar) are often unfriendly and claim that they are paid in tips only, no wages. The food is OK, but not "the best in the area ... " as they like to advertise. Drinks run about $3.50 and to be honest, seem watered down. There are no canned or bottled non-alcoholic beverages. Just tap pop and iced tea. While this place can get busy during the summer tourist season, it's pretty dead the other 9 months. There is no entertainment besides a juke box, though they advertise otherwise. There is a small but seldom used deck off of the restaurant area which has the smell of sewage in the summer months. Two tiny one person bathrooms serve the entire bar and on a busy day, there are lines. There is even a second bar down below but it's been closed for more than a year. Smoking is permitted, so you can't bring the kids. Staff won't shovel snow outside in winter and very little heat gets used during the cold months. Patrons typically keep their coats on. If I seem a bit negative toward this place, it's because it is deserving of it. As a local, I have seen this place bought and sold about a half dozen times, with each new owner doing as poor a job as the previous ones. Stop by out of curiosity if you want. At least the interior has a nice rustic decor. read more
