The view and ambience is beautiful and 5 star. The food on the other hand is a 2 star. The fish was so over cooked it tasted like overcooked chicken. The fish skin was so tough it was the texture of rubber. The cochinita pibil had good flavor but was but it was basically a tostada with a very thin layer of pork on top. Any pork taco off the street was just as good with a lot better portion of pork. Go for the view but don't expect much from the overpriced food.

I did some research prior to our trip and this spot kept popping up. We decided to give it a try. The four of us walked in and were seated immediately in the back area. No wait at all. I recall the jalapeño mezcal being good. Lighter then I prefer, but I'm a spirit forward kinda girl. I added an extra shot. The spiciness of the jalapeño was a nice contrast. The Carajillo was a good way to end the meal as it had espresso in it. Food wise, I needed some greens. The caesar salad was fine. Tho I found the apples an odd addition. I just avoided them. I adore ceviche so got the mixto. It was a good portion. Adding some spicy salsa provided a good kick. They gave us complimentary chips which were thick and crunchy. The rest of the family seemed to enjoy the flatbread / pizza and tacos we ordered. I heard the view here is really pretty, but you can't see much from the tables. There's a lot of greenery blocking the way. Nice place for a first meal.
Gorgeous location right by the water. The restaurant itself and the outdoor seating are just beautiful. Service was excellent. I got the poke bowl, and the ingredients were extremely fresh. What made it so delicious was the addition of watermelon, which I had never had in a poke bowl before. Would absolutely recommend this place
La playita is hands down the best spot in the Bacalar area to hang out , eat, chill and have a great time. The ambiance is amazing and makes you feel line an instagram curated jungle surrounded by pretty things, decorations and plenty of cats to share your seafood with. the views of the lagoon are breathtaking and the tables by the water are top notch. On top of that, the prices are really competitive and we spent all day there drinking an eating for about 30 dollars each. The best things in the menu IMHO are the Shrimp burger, the Tuna tostada, the cocktails and the smoothies. I would go there every day if i could. Do not miss it !
My family and I went there 2x since it was sooo good! We tried other restaurants but the service and food were mid at best. I was expecting this to be another overpriced tourist trap, but I ended up loving it. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the service! We had a large party the second time around, but they were so accommodating. My favorite were the empanadas, but everyone seemed to enjoy their food and drinks. I can't vouch for the other menu items though since I didn't try them and don't really eat seafood. Some of the better food we had in Bacalar but not sure if that says much. I would give it a try.
This place sits right on the lagoon so it is a really nice place to eat. They do not take reservations so we waited about ten minutes for a table. They have wood burning in buckets throughout the place to keep mosquitoes away, and it worked. We started with drinks and ordered Argentinian style empanadas. It was a variety of beef and vegetables. They were all delicious. I ordered the mahi-mahi and my wife got the shrimp pasta. My fish was grilled perfectly and my wife loved her creamy sauce with plenty of shrimp. Hearing the water hit the shore added a nice ambiance to the meal. Our service was great and the restaurant great.
Some good and bad with this place. It's right on the lagoon with gorgeous views and scenery. The food on the other hand was absolutely pathetic. WOW Two of the worst dishes I've had in a while. The Thai curry soup was way too sweet but lacked flavour also! That's literally all I could taste- sweet sugar. The pasta was equally terrible. Great food with a view! Saw this place as one of the most recommended places to eat at and I see why. Plenty of food options that everyone will find something to eat. Dining outdoors next to the lagoon just adds to the wood house setting. I ordered the infladitas de cochinita pibil as well as a dairy free flatbread (simpatica which was pepperoni, onions and sauce). The cochinita pibil was so good! The crunch from the deep fried infladita (tortilla) added a nice touch. The flatbed was really good considering there was no cheese. The server was very attentive and helpful with all my questions. read more

Right by the lagoon, you wouldn't regret choosing this place. Super tranquil, food is a 7/10 -- did not love it. Limited veg options. read more

Don't go anywhere else this place knows how to treat American tourists with a smile good service and a smile. The food is fresh the atmosphere is beautiful and a view of the Lagoon with a wonderful breeze! We will be back! read more

Stunning view. Probably the best empanadas I've ever had and by far the best agua Fresca I've ever had. Gosh and octopus tacos were okay. I think they might have served us last nights stale chips. Good service and very friendly staff. read more

This is the most beautiful restaurant in Bacalar. Just trust me and go here. I would ask to be seated by the Lagoon and you can enjoy the view while dining. The food is great too. Just look at my beautiful pulpo (octopus). It can't be any better than this. TIP: Go enjoy the walkway by the lagoon at the back of the restaurants. They also have a rocking chair and hammocks for you to enjoy. Order the last drink before paying and admire the lagoon. I like to go at dinner time so you can experience the sunset as well. Gorgeous location right on the water and good selection to choose from! This restaurant is at the center of town and has a large presence. Got the tortilla soup, empanadas, shrimp pasta, and coconut shrimp. Every empanada flavor was great--I love the spinach one! There cats on the patio with you but they are friendly. Great service and food was quick to come out. read more

From the moment you walk in it's beautiful. The greenery is all around you. The seating is inside and also by the water. We sat by the water and it was fully shaded. The menu was extensive. Prices were very reasonable. The drinks were awesome. We had already ate before we came so we had drinks, dessert, and went for a swim off the pier. They have fun swinging chairs by the water. We definitely will come back to eat. Very fresh food and great place setting. read more

My girlfriend ordered the octopus, which was delicious. Needed a minute longer on the grill, but was satisfying. The guacamole was fresh and the perfect starter, along with our drinks. The cocktail is a mango mezcal, and WOW! I hate to say this but I was looking for something "safe" to eat. I ordered a Simpática Pizza. It's a base hit for a pizza but a homerun if you don't want to be adventurous. The service was on point. Respectful and helpful. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. If I'm blessed to return I would absolutely revisit this restaurant. read more

Great place with awesome view and delicious food, highly recommended if go there eat only appetizers , first because there are so many and good portions, second you can enjoy little bit for everything, great service and also great drink(wine, cocktails sodas) ask for table near to the beach if you lucky you will have one ... and read more

The food here is SO good. It was so good we went back for more the very next day. Definitely get the ham and cheese empanadas! The short rib and coconut shrimp (one of the best I've ever had) were amazing. The flatbread was honestly underwhelming but everything else was great. The cocktails were also so good! Beautiful, great location, delicious food/drinks and great service. You are able to jump in the water at the end of the pier and there is a floating foam to walk on. If you are in Bacular this is a must come to place! read more

Mmmm Hera can I say attitude much ??? Our were waitress in the morning was good but the one we got during lunch had a gross attitude and no manners we had to remind her of ours drinks and didn't even ask my bf how he wanted his bistec tacos . They came medium rare which he didn't mind but please ask your customers how they want their food. And my ceviche didn't really have flavor , though my sisters in law did . Now I know where not to eat at next time I come to Bacalar . Also it's a little over priced the food isn't even all that , the place just looks nice read more

Good food, great place, not cheap but a great place to be at. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can swim and has a great view to bacalar's lagoon read more
