Don't live here if you care about your money your belongings and your sanity. The "amenities" are constantly inaccessible and locked. Cars are broken into and they do nothing. The gate is never closed and anyone loiters around constantly. A young lady died while I was living here and they didn't release any important information like safety or how the event took place. I've gotten cat called here, followed by strange men, etc. There's constant beer bottles littered everywhere and people smoking pot on the balcony like it's legal in Texas. My AC has broken 3 times (one time lasting several days long) with temperatures high in the 90's. The stairs and walkways are disgusting with bird feces and strange spills all the time. 3 days after I moved in , there was throw up all over the stairs where I had to walk. The people posting 5 star reviews are friends with management who won't even live here because of the state of the apartment. It's cheap for a reason. The worst apartment I ever lived. I've have lived here for 2 years. The first year was okay, everything was okay, as well as you renewed. If you don't, they will search for all little things to fine you. I was charged for almost $500 so far for STUPID reasons, so did my roommates. When we came down to the office to talked about the charge in the kitchen, they seemed to ignored it and tried to talked about other things. We were charged $100 each for kitchen cleaning fee, while we are still living there for 3 months. We've been staying there for 9 months and nothing happened, then they charged us for cleaning fee, it's ridiculous, they charge the cleaning fee but they NEVER come to clean. My roommate was charged $300 for her fish in the living, "the fish bothered the other roomate", which is ridiculous too. And when I moved out, they charged me of course, $400. I admit I didn't clean the room 100% shiny and clean, but the first day I moved in, the room was gross. Also, the staffs here are unfriendly and irresponsibly. They will keep calling you whether you renew or not every day, like I am doing something wrong. Therefore, I highly NOT recommend this place. There are many many other apartments which are much better than this. The leasing agent staff who REPRESENTS the face of the company are lazy and careless. I have seen an overall decline in their kindness and care for residents through the years of living here. We have had countless break-ins to our vehicles and despite having "gates", the apartment refuses to place security cameras anywhere besides the front office. The gates are always open, we live in close proximity to a drug dealer (who we have reported, and they still don't care), and we were told to get our OWN "game cameras" to handle our own security. If you are a parent, you should be concerned that your 18,19, or 20 year old could be subject to crimes that COULD BE DETERRED by having cameras and taking proper measures. I am willing to change this review if proper measures are taken to get security cameras and management ATTEMPTS to ensure safety. read more

I've lived here for almost 4 years, and never had a bad experience until recently. They paired me with a bad roommate, who constantly burns food by leaving it on the stove, and locking himself in his room. As well as leaving rotten food on the counters, and fridge. Which has brought a serious bug infestation in the apartment. I've brought this up to management multiple times, and they've continued to not help with the situation. Overall it's not a bad place to live, until you get in a situation where you get a bad roommate. Then you're out of luck, because management cares more about money, than the safety of their tenants. First of all, the staff goes in to every apartment once a month and completely violates you of your privacy. Your NOT allowed to have more than one vehicle. Your NOT allowed to park in the same parking spot more than once or else they WILL tow your car. All the appliances don't work the way they are supposed to (refrigerator, toilet, washer/dryer) and if you tell the office they won't do anything about it. Personally, I would not recommend anyone to live here. This apartment complex is advertised as a "student living" but they allow just about anyone who can pay rent to live here. The cops and ambulances are constantly here day in and day out. The gates are constantly broken. The office is better taken care of then the actual apartments where people actually live. The staff didn't want to help my roommate with her stalker, they just cared about the money. The maintenance are great people, and get the job done in a timely fashion, occasionally. The ladies who work in the office are decent people, but lack communication with their residents. They tried charging my bf $1,400 because he was on a month to month lease and when he decided to leave they claimed they didn't have any record of it on file. They also made me pay for damages that were not done by me, they were made by the previous renters. I suggest not living here period. read more

Really bad for fixing issues , one time I reported a maintenance order by the next day , they claimed to have fixed the problem when they didn't even came to the apartment, now the AC broke down and supposedly management was not able to get anybody to come today. I really do not think that they called every single AC business in town nobody could come today. its 91F inside the apartment with no flow of air, this is a health hazard and the incredible thing about it is that they didn't even bother to offer additional fans or anything to remedy the situation.Each apartment gets over 2 thousand dollars a month for the 4 bedrooms and in the 18 months that I have lived here , there has not been a single major cost of fixing at least on my apartment,". DO NOT RENT AT THIS APARTMENT! First off they pay residents in gift cards and prizes to write nice reviews. They know broke college kids will do anything to make extra money. DO not trust them. The pictures they have online, and the model apartment look absolutely nothing like the apartment you actually get. The apartment i'm in now I spent over $200.00 to get the place clean, as it was absolutely trashed when I moved in. I had mold in my vents, and there were dead roaches in every corner of the place including when I first got my keys and entered my room. There was 3 roaches just laying on the floor, which should never happen as the staff is supposed to do room checks right before you move in to make sure the room is good. They also couldn't find my room key (the office staff are untrained and horrible to work with). So the lady who was helping me obviously saw what they were moving me into. She said absolutely nothing, like it was normal. They say you can print for free, which you can if they have ink, and they are ALWAYS out, or WAITING for a shipment. Lets now move onto the plumbing issues and how they were taken care of... one of the major water lines busted in front of one of the buildings, we received an email from the front office 2 days after it busted that they would need to shut the water off from 1-6 pm that day, which we (my roommates and I )were all fine with. However..... at 6 we still didn't have water on, 7,8,9, passed with absolutely no update on when it was going to be turned back on. We called the number they provided and the lady had absolutely no idea when it was going to be back on. The lady told us that it most likely wasn't going to be back on till very late in the evening, which is an issue when my roommates and I all work 12 hour shifts the next day and need to shower, we would have made other plans had we known we weren't going to have water to cook with, shower with, or flush the toilet with. I decided to go out and buy jugs of water, to which we all used. Five min. after we all washed up we checked and the water was on. So much for communication. Another issue here would be the on going gate problem. One of the reasons I moved here was because it had a gate so I didn't have to worry about the safety issues associated with not having a gated apartment. However the gate does not work, and hasn't worked the entire 7 months I've been in this place. Finally this month we got a notice simply stating that the gates were closed and that if you wanted to get in you would need a key card and the office would only be open ill 6, and would be closed the following day because of the fourth of July. My roommates and I all do not get out of work till 7 or later. One of my roommates called up to the office to see what we could do, and they told her that we could call the after hours number and wait for someone to come up and open the gate.......... or essentially just be locked out. I had to take a extended lunch just to come up and get our key cards or risk being locked out of my own apartment. The day after the gates were wide open again, and now a week later they continue to not ever shut. ( no update from the complex). In more recent news the front staff and leasing manager pick and choose which rules they would like to enforce in our leases. For instance there is a no sweeping things off your balcony rule. I have a dog who I walk 3 times a day around the complex and I often see other dog owners sweep their dogs poop off their balcony onto the ground. This is no exception to the people living on the third story above me, as when they do it I then have their dogs poop all over my patio, and the smell is awful so I put curtains up. I got a call today saying that I absolutely had to take them down. I called up and asked why, but all the staff could tell me is that it was a violation. However when I got home I checked my lease and it says absolutely nothing about having curtains outside. as long as it doesn't go over the outside of the railing. read more

I am not going to lie, my first experience with these apartments were not so pleasant due to problematic roommates, but ever since Julia and Allison at the front desk helped out, I have been extremely happy with living at these apartments. They are extremely outgoing, great to talk to and made sure my experience at these apartments did not stay on bad terms. Maintenance is very kind as well. Overall...I would really recommend these apartments to any student going to TAMUCC or to anyone trying to start off with their first apartment. read more

They lie when they give you a tour of the apartment complex claiming that the car gates work and the other gates work when they actually don't. I am a retired Navy Veteran and my daughter attended TAMUCC. We signed a lease with this apartment complex and I must say in all my years of travel and living in various apartment complexes this was the most unsatisfactory place. We had problems from the day of move in until I made the last payment. Maintenance, lack of communication of office personnel, and lack of training of staff made the stay even worse. There was a switch in utility companies and that made paying your bill so confusing it stressed the office staff also. We cleaned the apartment upon departure and was still billed for cleaning as it is a "standard fee" charged to everyone. I think proper training of staff personnel, better communication, and a thorough review of the lease contract to be upheld by "IV" now "The Krista" would make this complex a more meaningful place to spend your college years. RUN! This place is awful!! I lived there for 2 years. When I moved in the apartment was filthy! Hair all over the floor, black stains in the sink and shower, trash on the floor. The apartment was infested with fleas from previous roommates and it took the office 4 weeks to get pest control out to spray. There were always break ins and countless things stolen and management never did anything. There was always underage drinking and drug use and when brought to managements attention they would respond with comments such as "we are aware but cannot do anything". The second year I subleased my room for a semester and got all new roommates who were freshman, while I was a senior, who never locked our front door and allowed people to come and go as they pleased. Upon my return for the spring semester there was a guy, who didn't live at islander village, scale my second story balcony and take the screen off the window and climb in and sleep on the couch. When I approached the managers they said "I should have checked the windows before I went to bed". One of the girls had serious anger manager issues and would threaten us with bodily harm, again management did nothing. Even though they say they have a unique matching system and will work with you if you have any problems they really do not care. Do not be deceived by the appearance or the fancy language on their advertisement. Nobody should have to go through the hell of living there. The apartments are old and were not taken care of and the managers do not seem to care about anything except getting their money. I had a roommate who was evicted because rent was due before she was paid even though she had never missed a previous payment.
