I strongly advise against renting from RR Living at 522 Hancock Avenue in Corpus Christi. My experience was below health code standards, required outside assistance such as calling the city, and overall the property is dirty and unprofessional. The unit was filthy at move-in (documented with staff, who apologized). Despite cleaning the apartment before moving out, RR Living charged me for move-out cleaning and for the carpet, even though the carpet was documented as disgusting at move-in/preexisting and I had no pets, only normal wear and tear. I formally disputed these charges by email on September 17, 2025 regarding security deposit refund after my lease ended on September 11, 2025; as of October 8, 2025, I AM STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE AND FOR MY DEPOSIT WHICH IS DUE IN MY HANDS BY MONDAY, October 13, 2025. Rest assured, you are at this staff's mercy for repairs and anything else you might need. As one example, I asked for this drain to be fixed on June 16th -- it was still not repaired at move-out. I include a picture of the drain. The carpet picture will not fully capture the filth and just how old and disgusting it is. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Under Texas Property Code §§92.103-92.104, landlords must return a deposit or provide an itemized list of deductions within 30 days, and may not deduct for preexisting conditions or normal wear and tear. Failure to comply can trigger §92.109 remedies (statutory damages, fees, and possible treble (triple) the amount wrongfully withheld). This property ALWAYS has ants and cockroaches because trash is left throughout the grounds. It is seriously disgusting. Gym equipment was broken and unusable. No one cares about this. The amenities are nominal at best. The unit refrigerator and washing machines are old too. Parking was chaotic and disorganized -- I escalated concerns to the CEO (Melanie French) for a parking spot. Ms. French never wrote me back but I did EVENTUALLY get a spot thanks to the help on one staff member who no longer works there unfortunately. The mailroom was broken into during my stay; residents as of SEPTEMBER 2025 had to drive to the USPS on Ayers for mail pickup. I also personally had to wait a week for my mail key. The elevator was malfunctioning, and I called the city inspector to repair it because you cannot rely on repairs. There are 2 elevators but generally you will only have access to ONE. Communication is extremely poor: emails go unanswered, and their internal platform (LOFT/RealPage) makes message tracking unreliable. ALWAYS SEND COPIES TO AN EXTERNAL GMAIL ACCOUNT. If you want anything completed - your best bet is to stop by the front office and speak to staff in person. I am preparing to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General if management fails to provide the legally required deposit accounting and response. While the in-person office staff are polite, this does not resolve the disorganization, maintenance failures, and neglect. I do not recommend this community unless you love outdated everything and can live in filth and non-responsiveness. I tried to include pictures of just how GROSS the carpet is too, but the pictures do not fully capture how raggedy it is. The only upside of this property is proximity to the waterfront. There are a million other places to rent nearby, and I would go that route if you can. Oh and lastly, you'll spend a bit on air-conditioning/heating because the windows and doors are not at all sealed and you will get huge gusts of cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer. You'll be schlepping in bottled/purchased water/making ice too because you cannot drink the refrigerator water or ice. The list goes on - GOOD LUCK! .
