In an effort to generate incremental revenue many of the sites I frequent (NY Post, DailyMail, MLB Trade Rumors) have installed partial paywalls to sequester their best content/columnists behind a paid, members-only rope line. I get it. Quality contents costs money... meaning the days of "everything is free on the net" are coming to a resounding close. The problem is that while I frequent those sites for their entertainment value, I'm hard pressed to rationalize an extra $30 bucks a month for content that doesn't have the immediacy and credibility of those sources that I pay for willingly such as the NYT, WSJ and The Economist to name a few. It's probably fair to say that their paywall gambit counts on their advertising continuing to be placed by AdTech "bots" rather that human buyers who might consider more subjective reader engagement metrics such as overall quality of the environments and a more robust match with client objectives. Again, even though I enjoy their entertainment value, it's amazing what you can learn to live without. After a month, I barely remember that they exist. Five stars for amnesia. read more

2/9/21 Let's get down to business, It is said " If you don't get it, You don't get it." I have read the post, but it not on a day to day basis.   As a kid, I remember going outside early in the morning to get the Post. I also remember the smell of coffee and eggs in the morning.  Oh, and a cup of fruit.  Only one of those morning traditions did I care for. This would be the fruit and not the coffee or eggs.  Yes, I have eaten and drank coffee before. Both of them are disgusting.  My parents almost always had a news paper to read in the early morning and from time to time, I read the stories that got my interest.   The Metro Section always got my interest.    I also enjoyed reading the front pages of the Washington Post.  The Art Section was interesting too. Of course I liked reading the comic section. On Sunday Mornings. Comics like Big George,  Henry, The Far Side and most importantly CALVIN&HOBBES. Sadly the same year I was going to graduate from high school, is the year Calvin&Hobbes would come to an end. I have not read the Post lately so I guess I don't get it as they say. Nevertheless,  listening to the radio an watching the news will have to do. Oh, and using the internet too.   Still, when I do read the Post, I get the stories I wish to read. I purchased a bundle of Sticky Passwords Premium and Unlimited VPN through New York Post on 8/6/21. As soon as I went to redeem the purchase, I saw that the 'Unlimited VPN' was actually limited to 5 devices. Luckily, I hadn't redeemed either digital code yet, and it had only been a few days since the purchase (honestly 4 days). The New York Post rep told me that if I would have scrolled down to the bottom of the page, clicked on the refund policy link at the bottom of the webpage, and read through the physical products vs. digital content section, I would have seen that they only refund in the form of store credit... Nothing else in their virtual store is of use or interest to me, and almost everything is over $100 more! I let them know that selling something as 'Unlimited', and only after the purchase is it described as limited, is called a 'bait and switch'. This is illegal, and that I would let this go if they just refunded my money. I am disabled, supporting a family of 4 on my disability income, needed the password protection and VPN security because my kids (age 10 and 7) don't always come up with the best passwords, but need the internet for school. I also let them know that my 7 year old daughter is fighting cancer right now, so even though this might seem like a drop in the bucket to them, every penny matters to my family. It didn't make a lick of difference to the cold hearted men and women at The New York Post. They had this bundle of theirs for the Sticky Numbers and VPN Unlimited through the New York Post as the top 3 results on google if you searched password manager and VPN bundle, so beware! And its pretty accurate. You read a story here and you can be reasonably confident in it. The online version is a little distracting to me, lots of moving images and hard to actually read what they say to click further in. But once you get used to the format it can work. read more

I literally wish I could give zero stars. I am a 24 year old woman who does not care about newspapers at all, but for some reason here I am writing this review. The reason for this is because the New York Post is scamming people at the grocery store into signing up for a month of papers IN EXCHANGE for a $20 gift card to said grocery store. Sound simple enough, right? You pay them $20 for the paper, do them a favor so they get their commission, and walk away with a $20 gift card to cover your groceries for the day. Everybody wins! Not really though. Through their pushiness, they forget to mention that they are actually signing you up for a continuous subscription to be charged over & over again. Not so simple after all. Granted, I should have said no to begin with, but they were so pushy and made it seem like you were doing them a favor with nothing to lose. Getting the subscription canceled & the money refunded was difficult, but I was able to get it done on the second call to their mediocre customer service line. I do not even take the time to write bad reviews, but they wholeheartedly deserve it. I wanted to do a review of New York Post. I do not trust most news agencies and for good reason. There was a scandalous international news frenzy about me that lasted at least 3 and a half years. It was started by a wealthy attorney who paid a publicist to post a bunch of untrue stories in an effort to use me as a scape goat. This attorney has been investigated by the FBI for bribery and has gotten arrested for assault. If I tried to explain the story nobody would believe me it is that crazy! In fact friends of mine who saw the story with my picture did not even recognize me because the story was so wild and crazy! All of the news agencies except the NY Post published a story just because this attorney said it was true without checking the facts or contacting me. The New York Post was the only agency who actually contacted me and checked legal and other documents to see if it was even true. So judging by personal experience I can say that the New York Post does not have an agenda and publishes news based on research and documentation. I can't say that for other publications.
