First of all, Mikayla I lurfff you! I don't was looking for a butterfly fairy wolf cut ish but on curly wavy hair. Naturally I went to Yelp assistant for some local recos. After a thorough research and multiple fingers pointing to The L Salon for something fun and funky, I decided to give it a try. I was also looking for something for YESTERDAY so my favorite part is I didn't have to wait weeeeeeeeeeeks to get in for a haircut appointment. I was able to easily book online and come by within a few days. The L Salon instantly has the coolest vibes with a team you can tell works closely together and feels like a family. I booked my appointment with Mikayla since Kayla didn't have any availability for the day I wanted to come in on. And I'm SOOOOO glad I did. Mikayla was so bubbly, kind, understanding and listening when it came to my description, wants and photo references. As she cut me she made sure to check in even though I told her I fully trusted her and she had free rein basically. Shes so creative and really understood the assignment. She also recommended some products that I ended up going home with. Can't wait to come back for balayage. I did get to also meet Kayla and she seems pretty incredible too. I really wanted to like this salon. To be fair, a stylist here was recommended by a friend when I complimented her on her hair (which is much shorter and thinner than mine) and I thought that I was doing my due diligence in ensuring that I had a great experience by calling beforehand and making clear what I was looking for and that the stylist my friend recommended knew how to do it. I was told that she did and booked an appointment. Well, the first clue should have come when I showed up and they didn't have an appointment for me. The owner herself asked me if I was sure I called there. I said yes and went so far as to explain a policy they have there in regards to referrals; at this point, I then met the stylist (very sweet and nice young girl) and went to the back. Everything went south after that. It was evident from the beginning that the stylist did not know how to do the cut I requested, the owner intervened and brushed all of my hair (and I have long, thick hair) in front of my face and proceeded snipping and cutting, attempting to fix what my stylist did and told me "she's new, so I'm just going to be here helping her out" and suffocated me in my hair for the next 10 minutes. I still tried to maintain a positive attitude because it was my first time there, I had my child with me, and my friend comes here, but eventually I stopped her from cutting and put my hair up, paid, and left. Too bad I waited until it was pretty much at the end to do that. Bottom line? It's a terrible idea to lie and tell potential customers that you know how to do something that you don't. I wanted layers in the front that would blend in with the layers in the back, with the shortest pieces coming right below my chin; I ended up with huge thick curtain bangs that start at my earlobes. I can't even pull it back, I have to use clips. Best way to describe it? A sheep dog. I will not be returning or recommending, and when I can look at this with a little more humor and I'm ready to have a good laugh at myself, I'll post a picture of my hair. read more

Ok I had a wonderful ending to the terrible haircut I received back in august. I had written the bad review just to get it off my chest, not because I expected anything. But Lauren the salon owner reached out and said she wanted to make things right. She offered me a free haircut which I went and got today. It came out beautiful and I'm so happy to have a good cut again. I do really respect a place that will own up when they make a mistake and be willing to fix it. So I'll definitely be back! read more

I am a cosmetologist with some experience. While I was in school I hated learning how to blow dry. I eventually learned but completely ignored ever blow drying my own hair, especially as I did it at work too. I was super nervous bc I am hilariously bad at specifically drying my own hair. I signed up for a blow dry boot camp. Olivia helped me without judgement and her advice was right on. It was helpful to just have someone to help show me and then give me hands on experience by having me replicate the drying myself. They had champagne and a nice cheese platter. I even saw the stylist from the ad who replicated the boot camp call on the spot! The class was well worth the money and they seem to have a great team. read more

I have come to this L Salon a few times. Its very far from where I live but worth the drive. The owner Lauren is very nice, sweet, pretty and hospitable. She runs a beautiful establishment. The Salon has an upbeat vibe. The music that was playing, was so much FUN! Customers and technicians alike were singing along to The Supremes. Sam is my hair technician. I CANNOT say enough wonderful things about her! She entertains you while doing your hair. She has a great sense of humor. She is a Latin BEAUTY! Through and through. I used to see Lauren for haircuts when she worked at a salon in Poughkeepsie. I loved what she did with my hair and the fact that I could walk to the salon, which was super convenient for me. I was disappointed when I called to make an appointment with her and was told she no longer worked there. :( I tried someone else at the same salon, but it just wasn't the same. I'm a pretty good detective, so with some online research, was able to find her at the L Salon. I'm so happy she ventured out on her own. Her new full-service salon is friendly, welcoming and has a nice modern open vibe. I love that she supports local artists and also offers tons of events, classes and special promotions. And if you're a bride - she's got I still have Lauren do my cuts, even though it means I now have to drive about 20 minutes, one way, just to see her. It's worth it! read more

Having been there a couple of weeks ago, I was surprised to see hardly anyone there other than the people employed. The place is decorated or not decorated I should say. the salon was freezing and it was not that cold out. They looked as if they had not had a customer in days. I felt sorry, and had my nails done even though I just went there for a list of pricing. they did not have a brochure with the prices. I am unsure of how long they've been there and I've never heard anything either good or bad about it. The young lady did work diligently on my nails. was I satisfied? not really, but I was satisfied with her attempt to do an acceptable job. I have been getting Brazilian Blowouts for 2 years in NYC. I thought I would try a local upstate place even thought the price was no cheaper. Less then a month after my treatment, my hair is frizzy and not laying flat and smooth as it should be. When I was getting the treatment, I asked the stylist if she was using enough formula. She said yes, even though I had my doubts due to my previous experiences. To boot, they quoted me $250. on the phone. But when it came time to pay, they charged $300. and said it was because the length of my hair. They should have said that upfront. When I questioned it, they gave me an attitude. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. My first impression as I walked in was that the space was beautifully decorated, well curated, and very clean. As I entered I was greeted warmly by staff at the front desk and immediately offered refreshments. Madison is a wonderful and enthusiastic stylist to collaborate with. She listened closely to what I was hoping to achieve and as a result I got exactly the cut I wanted. She took her time and at no point did it feel rushed. She also explained what she was doing as she did it and elaborated on the products as they were utilized. I left feeling and looking great. Finally made it here! The L Salon has always been so good to the community- giving gift certificates to the many fund raisers hold at our golf course. I've been wanting to try them for a while! Called at the last minute (on an unexpected, rainy day off) and was told Anthony could take me in 20 minutes. He was pleasant (as was the entire staff), and respected the word TRIM! The place is clean, the music upbeat, but not obnoxious, prices decent. I'll definitely be back. Only "problem" for me- I wish, at least 1 day a week, they'd open a bit earlier! read more

The worst salon experience ever. And the worst manicure I have ever had. The guy didn't know how to take gel off and scrapped and hurt me for what seemed like an hour before giving up on my toes. Then he slowly did a terrible job on my fingers using dried up polish he couldn't get a second coat out of and told me I didn't need one. Was very happy that they upheld my price quote for wedding party and bridal updos from when they were under different management. My bridal updo came out beautiful and lasted the whole day/night! I just moved up here so I needed to find a new salon, which is always a scary ordeal because most of the time you end up with a bad haircut..but this was not the case at the L Salon! After searching and searching and checking out reviews and instagrams I found this salon, and even a groupon! I decided to go with Lauren since she seems to do phenomenal hair on other women and thought "maybe she can make my ratty hair into something beautiful". Boy did she! I left there looking and feeling fabulous! I usually dread going to the salon because, being from NJ, every time I'd get my hair cut I would walk out looking like some hairsprayed-up soccer mom. I HATE that look. I'd opt to leave with wet hair just so they didn't put tons of product in it. But Lauren really listened to what I wanted, which I have to give it to her, wasn't much. I will never go here again. After following their instagram for a while (due to my complete n total fear of entrusting anyone to cut/style my long hair after many many prior horrendous experiences w "stylists" not listening to what I wanted even having shown them pictures)- I liked tgeir long styles on Instagram so decided to try this place. Went last year w pics from their Instagram of what I wanted. They did a beautiful job. Exactly what I wanted. I was thrilled n have recommended them to everyone I know ever since then. So then went again last week almost a year later w muh longer and nice thick hair that just needed some stuling and lauering. I showed them the pic of the cut they did on me last year n said I wanted exatly the same style at my new longer length. Lets just say I did NOT get what I wanted. They hacked half the volume out of what WAS my nice thick waist-lemgth hair. And they didnt even layer the sides the way Id SHOWN them I wanted from their cut the year before.
