This is the absolute best gym, best CKO location, best set of trainers that you will find anywhere. I started coming in 2017 when I would visit on vacation and from day 1 I knew I needed to be a permanent member of this location. The energy is unmatched by every single trainer here, something not often found elsewhere. The owner, Fernando, is the most welcoming human and makes you feel like part of the CKO family immediately. The trainers are the spotlight- Amy, Jay, Rodney, Christian, Dominic, Matt, and Adam are my regular go-to's but I guarantee no matter who's class you walk into, you'll leave feeling on top of the world. From the cardio to boxing to weight included exercises, you get a mix of everything here. It's all you need in a gym. Their kickboxing experience is the best I've ever seen, so you're getting a good sweat but also learning proper technique and form at the same time. There are few guarantees in life, but joining CKO, putting in the work, & looking and feeling better is one I can put money on. Mickey D is like the coolest understated hero of fitness in Miami and such a great family vibe in the atmosphere he created. Clean, airy, good equipment, facilities even showers! He's got really good energy and takes care of you as a beginner. I'm sure all his teachers are great but I took with Micky and he makes sure that you are good form and throw punches. The Box is located at the Shoppes at Midtown near Angelina's and SugarCane. Atmosphere: This studio is brand new and outfitted with lockers, changing rooms, immaculate bathrooms and a cool indoor boxing ring. There is also a juice bar, The Juice Box, that sells drinks and smoothies for a post workout treat. The actual boxing studio is a separate dark room with black lights, high ceilings, mirrored walls, and 3 rows of punching bags. Everyone gets their own bag and each bag has a sensor that tracks how many punches you get in and your power. You can see you stats at the end of class to gauge performance. Workout: I've tried class with 3 of the instructors (Angie, Mike, Alvin) and they've all been awesome. Music is blasting, and the instructors explain the punches/combos and walk around offering help where needed. Class is 45 minutes divided in into a couple segments: warmup, shadow boxing, actual boxing on the bag, 5 minute abs and a cool down. There is a clock on the wall that times the different sections, and the class FLIES by! The Box offers classes almost every hour on the hour so it's pretty convenient to find a time to come in. Other: Parking can be difficult. Give yourself 10 minutes to find a spot. Wraps are $6 for purchase and can be reused. Gloves are $3 for rental per class.
