This business is now sold. It was a nice place to eat with good food. I hope another restaurant will move in soon

The Food and service were great. The drinks could have been better. Had a small band playing in the corner. Unexpected find in Milam.

We found this spot after a football game in the middle of nowhere! Yummy food and great service! Small town feel. Clean.

We really wanted a steak so we ended up where locals told us to go. This may be the only place in…read morethe city to actually get one. We were seated immediately and the hostess was really sweet. Our waitress came by quickly and asked about drinks and if we wanted rolls. Someone had already said you have to ask for honey cinnamon butter bc they won't bring it out. They brought 3 rolls and these were the best rolls I've ever had. Like so good. She asked if we wanted more but we declined even though we could have eaten a few more! We got a fried chicken salad and the western burger with fries. No steak ik we opted for something else to try first. The food came out at a good temp. Everything was pretty decent but just nothing fancy. Pretty ordinary and just ok. I did really enjoy the freshly made strawberry and lime mixed margarita. It was really great.

Well guess I should've gotten the steak bc what I got wasn't worth the ridiculous price I paid for…read morebad food. Fried fish onion rings(which she brought me French fries instead by mistake) and etoufee dinner and my husband got fried shrimp plate. Only thing good was the warm bread rolls. Fish was good, etoufee was like eating can cream mushroom soup with crawfish in it, so thick my spoon could stand up in it. Onion rings(which she brought me afterwards) and shrimp and hush puppies the batter was chewy like it was old or something. Had terrible taste and texture. Waitress forgot our 2nd order of drinks had to remind her. Sorry we won't be back. Hope the place improves!!

Asparagus is our favorite side, but we are working our way through the sides and deserts. Service is very prompt and professional. Excellent service on all visits. If you are staying overnight in the area, book a room at the Fredonia Hotel. Restaurant and Hotel are together. The quietest hotel room I have stayed in over my 40+ years of travel. So happy that we've been able to pass through and enjoy dinner at the hotel. Small college town, with some super nice people. Put it on your to-do list if you are passing through.

Our visit to the Republic Steakhouse was the deifintion of a "mid" experience.....at a premium…read moreprice. We were seated in the bar section in some very low and comfortable seats that became significantly less comfortable when trying to lean forward and eat. That did wonders from my usually sore back, let me tell you. I had their stuufed flounder and even though it looked more like two crab cakes than a fish, it was actually pretty good. I was happy with it. My wife, on the other hand, ordered a sirloin cooked medium (pink center). What she got was a well-done steak. If this were Denny's and this happened to a $18.99 steak it wouldn't be a big deal but this was at a prime steakhouse and the stead was about $60. My wife went ahead and ate it because she said it still tased good even though it was not what she asked for but the last quarted of the steak because so very grey and dray that she could go no further. She pointed the issue to the server (who didn't even apologize or even seem bothered) and asked that he show the remainder of the $60 boot sole to the manager. Now, we were not looking to recieve any sort of compensation or anything like that. My wife simply wanted the issue acknowledged by the manager since the steak was so expensive and was not cooked correctly. The manager never bothered to show up. This is a clear indication that the management of the Republic Steakhouse doesn't really care about either the quality of the food or the satisfaction of the guests. This is a shame because there is alot to like otherwise. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will be visiting them again. One final tip for the bar staff: If you are going to charge $18 for an Old Fashioned, you either have to make it good or fill the glass. Pick one.

(We moved back here after 20 years in the Baton Rouge metro area and the culture shock is real; we are glad to have Double "D"!) We dine there about twice a month, either inside or take-out. The place is usually hopping with business, but the host(ess) normally gets you seated quickly. Most servers can handle the pressure and are prompt, know their menu, and check in after the food drops be sure you're satisfied. Drinks are refilled promptly. You're limited to Pepsi products here. Our menu favorites are the: Mesquite Grilled Chicken: the chicken is moist and flavorful. We usually choose the Sweet Potato as side and they're oven-baked and tender. We are not fans of the yeast rolls, but it's a thing here so there's that. Double "D" Burger: as advertised, a juicy burger, generously dressed. Again, not a fan of the "yeast roll" bun, but they do pop it on the grill for a little singe, which helps. French fries are not too salty, and always come out crispy and hot. We've only ordered cocktails here once, and that was more than enough. Mixed drinks are not a strength here, but their crowd tends to be non-alcohol, so it's not a big deal to skip the drinks when we're here

Twilight zone time!!!!! We drive up to what we think is the diner and the big sign in front says "Dorothy and Debs Redneck Diner" and that they have moved to a new address and listed the address. "Y'all come back diner" was written on the glass which was covered with aluminium foil. It looks like a happening place with all the cars parked outside and people are coming and going, but with aluminium covering the glass you can't really tell so we go looking for the other place and it wasn't there! So.....we go back and decide to go ahead and walk in.... Sure enough it's a diner!!! Aesthetics are definitely not a redneck priority. Freezers out in the open and everything in disarray. The menu was not updated (Dorothy and Debs) and listed the hours on front and closed on Sunday, but we were there on Sunday!! But......in spite of all the confusion, it was the best breakfast we've had in a long time. Everything we had was great!! Eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. Sausage gravy and biscuits.. excellent!! We loved Y'all come back diner or Dorothy and debs...whatever your name!!!
