It guided ships along the lake to the canal that accessed downtown NOLA. For most of my life, it was just kind of there. According to the historical timeline on their website, the lighthouse was owned and in use by the Coast Guard until 1999....I'm not sure about that in use part. But it was one of the many structures damaged in the aftermath of Katrina. It was actually knocked off it's base and landed at an angle. There was a huge fund raising effort to rebuild the lighthouse and the create the education center. When I passed by today, the lighthouse was gated off and closed but it's still pretty to look at from the road...or from the Point. Now I'll just have to make it back to see the inside exhibit.

The food and drinks were placed on tables on the concrete Lighthouse Breezeway (under the raised lighthouse which is raised about one story above the ground). The guests mingled in the Fountain Plaza where the tables and chairs were set up and could stroll along the Lakefront Lawn to look over at the Point and the boats sailing by. The weather held and people had a good time. Restroom facilities are in the Education Center/Gift Shop. The event ground is wheelchair friendly with ramps to get to the different levels.

They let us use our own props that had significant meaning to me and my husband and they used some of their ones too! Our guests took over 420 photos in 3 hours! Everyone LOVED it! They got printouts of every pic and we got to keep a copy too for our wedding guest book. We also got all digital files! They have several backdrops and we chose the white sequin. They have gold, silver and gold and black too. Angell and team were very professional! She got me back all the pics within 24 hours of our wedding! We reached out to Mitey AV looking for a projector and screen for use at my retirement celebration to display a power point show of 92 slides with well over 100 pictures so my guests could see snapshots from throughout my career. Here is the kicker, we called them at 2pm on a Friday; THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT! Shaun and his team were incredibly helpful with identifying what would support our needs, and their prices were so good, we were actually a little nervous. But nervousness went away as soon as they showed up exactly when they said they would, and were ready to get everything setup for us. I also want to note that they are prepared for contingencies also. The venue we were at wasn't sure they could get power turned on for the side of the room where we needed to set up the projector, which could have been an issue. Mitey AV came ready with extension chords, floor tape, and were ready to run extension chords and tape them down as required to support the event. We did not end up needing it, but it was a big comfort knowing they could have run over 100ft of extension chord to ensure we could do what we planned. Great preparation and service! The setup crew ops checked all the variations we would need for the evening, ensured we had sound support, and even showed us how to restart, focus, and adjust the setup if we had issues in the evening. Their setup included skirting around the AV Cart, so it looked clean and professional. I cannot thank Mitey AV enough, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Make sure to call them if you are even thinking about AV needs fro your event. You will not be disappointed!

I've attended a few events over the years in this space (and I'm pretty sure I've reviewed it…read morebefore but ???) and last weekend was a family wedding. The space is GORGEOUS. The 1930s fountain is stunning and the colonnade is lush right now with wisteria which gives the whole space a dreamy look. The adjoining event hall is modern with a ton of windows so you can enjoy the beautiful park around you. The staff is top notch! At the last moment rain clouds rolled in and the outdoor wedding had to quickly be moved indoors. This was accomplished quickly and efficiently. The bartenders and servers were great! The food was good and plentiful. Definitely a night to remember!

Who doesn't love an outdoor wedding ceremony on a beautiful sunny day?? Popp Fountain in City Park is the perfect place in the park for such a moment. The fountain is picturesque and makes for an awesome backdrop. The Arbor Room adjacent to the fountain is a big open room that can accomodate over 300 people for your wedding reception. I worked a wedding reception here last night and the Arbor Room was decorated beautifully. The bride and groom loved everything about their wedding. While it wasn't a New Orleans-style wedding it was still loads of fun! (Of course in New Orleans we do almost everything different including our wedding receptions). Everyone loved the food and the band was great (popular local band The Bucktown All Stars). The Arbor Room and Popp Fountain have it all to make your special event perfect.....a wonderful setting, delicious food, plenty of outdoor space, and a great staff.
