If you are reading this and you are the parent of a child struggling with addiction, we know how scary and difficult this is. We have been in your shoes. My husband and I are writing this review of the Lakes Treatment Center because we are so grateful to them for helping our daughter. Our daughter received treatment there for approximately 6 months on her journey to recovery. As her parents we have come to know that that any treatment success depends upon both the individual's desire to get help and the quality of the treatment provided. The Lakes turned out to be the right place for her. Our daughter was deep into addiction and her circumstances were dire. We believe she had hit her bottom. It was a nightmare. We feared for her life. To make matters worse we were all the way across the country on the East Coast. Because of her addiction she did not really know how bad her situation was. Fortunately, she agreed to go to the Lakes for treatment. She needed the help that the Lakes ultimately provided. The management and staff at The Lakes provided quality care and love which helped our daughter turn the corner towards recovery. They never gave up on her even when she failed several times on her attempts at sobriety. Below are some things that we observed about the Lakes. *Bernadette and all her staff members knew our daughter and genuinely cared about her. They knew who she was. She was not just a number. *The facility was clean and safe. The grounds are on a pretty lake. Fun activities were offered. We liked the fact that our daughter was able to stay for more than 30 days. An addict is only just starting to have a clear head after 30 days and needs much more time to get at the true underlying issues of their addiction and behaviors. * The Lakes was equipped to handle dual diagnoses. The Lakes staff was extremely accommodating. Our daughter had legal issues that needed to be managed. They facilitated communication and transportation with the courts. Following her treatment at the Lakes our daughter immediately moved into a sober living house for women and has been there for 5 months now. She is sober, she has a job, and is of sound mind and spirit. We know it's 'one day at a time' but we could not have hoped for a better outcome. My son was completely broken on entering The Lakes, so when he arrived he was grateful. Grateful for the healthy food, people that cared, help and support to get off the opiates that had taken over his life and safety. As everyone knows, heroin affects the whole family. It tears the family apart in so many ways. I took advantage of the family counseling even though my son was not ready to initially. It supported my growth and confidence thanks to the family counselor at The Lakes. My son is kind-hearted, smart, trustworthy, and an athlete, but heroin had taken this man away from me. I hadn't seen that man for quite awhile and wondered if I would ever see him again. After my son's detox at The Lakes he got serious as his strength was growing. He invited family to visit and they took advantage of the family counseling as well. Each time we visited our happiness grew. We took advantage of the onsite beach area and local restaurants. Our family enjoyed onsite kayaking, swimming, and jumping off the floating dock, and fishing. We got back to having fun together like old times. My son was able to wake board, play volleyball, lift weights, attend counseling sessions, and grow confident and strong. He also took advantage of off site mentors recommended by Bernadette. A group took a trip to Yosemite, which is where my son spent a lot of his youth. All of these aspects of what The Lakes has to offer helped my son find his way back and beat his heroin addiction. My family, friends, and I were in constant prayer and I had faith, never giving up. I am forever grateful for Bernadette, Buddy, and staff for being the path God used to bring my son back to us. Their compassion, expertise, endless support, and heartfelt kindness went into saving my son. He is almost 2 years clean, has his own business, and is a wonderful dad, son, brother, friend, and grandson. The Lakes Treatment Center offers care across the board. The staff includes all types of services from medical nursing staff, med techs, Nurse Practitioner, Phycologist, Physiatrist and LFT, CADC counselors and RADT behavioral health techs as well as RA floor staff and kitchen crew with their heart in the business for change. I almost forgot there is even legal coordination help for those that are needing a leg up in how to coordinate their legal issues. and laundry staff- Yes you read that right they do your laundry, wash dry fold repeat. I want to give it to you real as possible. If you come to treatment not willing to surrender YOUR IDEAS, YOUR THOUGHTS, AND YOUR WAY OF LIFE it is never going to work! I can promise you one thing-you get what you put in to treatment. This setting on the lake is like none other. The sunsets and rises and you get to see start to give you something to be grateful for. Of course there will be rules, and group all day long but that is part of the process. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is if you decide to walk through those doors don't forget YOU chose to trust The Lakes Treatment Center to help you get better so when its time to make a decision that the staff is suggesting and you do not like it- maybe take a thought about why you would not trust the staff now that you are there. Not everything is going to be perfect, its going to get hard and to be honest your probably at one point not going to like your counselor- but that is the point. You have to get uncomfortable to grow. When you are clean and sober years down the road you will think back on that counselor that you threw a fit about in treatment and be grateful they never folded for you and they always held you accountable. I can only speak for my experience there. I spent 90 days at The Lakes, and for me it was life changing. I've been in treatment 3 times, and The Lakes was by far the best treatment center for me. The staff was caring and friendly, the accommodations were by far the best, the food was good, and I learned a lot about my addiction. I've read the negative reviews, and all I can say about those is, based on what I observed, the treatment the clients get is directly proportional to what we put in to it. If a client is not ready to be clean and sober, he/ she will not get anything out of it. Some reviews complain that it's all about the money, but I didn't get that impression at all. Of course it's there to make money, and I'm glad that The Lakes is doing well, but in my experience that was not the main driving factor. The owner herself, Bernadette, returned my wife's phone call at 7:00 am on a Sunday to make my arrangements. My counselor was very busy, but always made time for each of his clients. The services they provide weren't limited to just counseling either; they worked with my insurance, they assisted me with with state disability, they have both a Psychiatrist and Psychologist on staff along with the MD for dual diagnosis. The tools are all there, the only thing that's not provided is the motivation, dedication, and effort that needs to be provided by the individual client. Of course there are incidents that occur, there always will be, the clients are addicts, alcoholics, and people with deep rooted issues. But the staff handles it with professionalism, care, and safety is always the main concern. I can't speak highly enough for The Lakes, they helped save my life. read more

First of all, I've been to this facility twice both for 3 month programs and I can confidently say that both times the facility along with its staff went above and beyond to prepare me to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, I didn't hold up on my end and didn't think I needed any aftercare.. I was wrong.. I should've listened to my counselor Paul at the Lakes because he was encouraging me to transition back into society through a sober living.. anyways, I see a review on here from Madison that I felt the need to give my input on.. I was at the Lakes when she (Madison) checked in and right off jump she stirred up drama and BS. Maddy, I really hope ur doing well but that's not right to downplay a facility that tries their hardest and have the purest intentions when it comes to their patients. You were the 1 not following rules and causing chaos amongst the girls. You can't say anything about the Owner or her family because me n u had a sexual relationship literally 36 hours from when you had gotten there.. I find that to be very lame too be honest.. the Staff and Administration gave you multiple chances to get with the program and it was all on you that you didn't.. but don't sit there and literally make things up to make a facility that can and will help many people struggling with their addiction or mental health issues. I understand your young and you might still be maturing but don't leave negative reviews that can possibly sway possible patients away from the Lakes, when the Lakes will save some of those patients lives.. please don't take this personal if you do read this.. My 60 day stay at The Lakes Treatment Center changed my life. I checked myself in June of 2019 and graduated 60 days later. When I arrived I felt depressed and hopeless. I wanted to make a change but had no idea how to go about it. The sessions with my personal counselor, groups as well as the psychologist helped me to identify the underlying issues related to my addiction. I learned so many tools that helped me leave the facility with a solid recovery plan. It's been 18 months now and I'm so grateful for the gift of recovery. I have my confidence back and most importantly my family relationships. My family are all so happy to have me back, the person they knew was there but was gripped by the torture of an addiction. What I thought was going to be a negative experience turned out to be one of the best of my life. I've read some of the other reviews and I have to say that you get out of the program what you put into it. There is a lot of work involved in changing your life and sadly most aren't willing to put in the work. The setting is so peaceful and tranquil, the food was amazing and the staff understand recovery and are all extremely friendly and helpful. The owner and administrative staff are exceptional advocates for all who are pursuing recovery. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is at the end of their rope and wants to fight to get their life back. Hello i just graduated from the lakes treatment center with 83 days clean and sober and now living in a sober living home in Huntington beach California i was addicted to fentanyl and meth for so many years of my life coming to the lakes I did not know what to expect but it was the best rehab and detox I have ever experienced I appreciate Bernadette and Travis for giving me the opportunity and the pleasure of coming there and Bella and Finley the wiener dog was very cool to but honestly if it wasn't for the#1 RA Joey being there and guiding me thru all my difficult times and being so understanding and so helpful with guidance and support I couldn't do it with out him that man helped me dig deep within myself and showed me that anything is possible and no matter what background we come from AS LONG AS WE REACH FOR OUR DREAMS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE,I love you Joey you changed my life and made the biggest impact in my life nobody has ever pushed me to do so good ever and I wish you the best brotha also I gotta shout out to RACHEL ,Trish,Dustin& my brottha Dj, Steve Brad ,Zach and RT all the am crew was so awesome all the kitchen staff was awesome i love you Paula and all the females in the kitchen your lady's are all amazing women love you guys also shout out to the the nurses the whole pm crew rocked Thank you guys read more

I attended the lakes treatment center for approximately 28 days couldn't provide me the proper care I needed I had a nice counselor while I was ther her name was Caroline but only got to speak with her a couple times then she went on vacation asined me another counselor wich never met with me while I was there I met alot of nice people some residents n some staff some really care some really don't they have a guy there they call Dr. Tom which is a joke turns out guys isn't even a Dr. Doesn't know his ass from his elbow. Met with him on zoom guy has a hospitol back drop cloth behind him like he is at a hospitol it's a joke I paid 1000 a day to be there n they gave me a bunch of mess I've never took before or even needed they ended up kicking me out on the street at 6 am after I got into a argument with another resident never met with me or tried to talk to me just told me get my shit I got 5 minutes to leave the property threw my wet laundry in a bag with my other clothes and said good luck... very un professional being they fact I'm there to work on my self and so is everyone else there I was there for anger issues and addiction it's all about money for them they just want ur money don't give a shit if u fail or succeed they want u doped up on meds the whole time ur there so they get more money... ​​ read more

The Lakes Treatment Center SAVED MY LIFE! I just graduated on August 15, 2024 and recomend them to everyone I know. I've been to several rehabs in the past and the lakes is the only facility that was above and beyond personable. There the only facility that educated me on every step I took during my stay there. There facility is immaculate inside and out. The food is amazing there and not only the counselors but the entire staff including Bernadette is above and beyond involved with your care, with your entire journey while your the and even help you with your plans upon exiting. The type of care one gets there is more than you'll get anywhere else and I can promise you that! I was a resident at the lakes , they aren't only just there to help you with your addiction and the tools you need in your recovery but they treat you like family ,today im 13 months clean and sober and the first 4 months of my recovery was at the lakes . They helped me identify the reasons im using and how to attack it . My recovery is based off the lakes treatment program. Most places don't give you the attention you need and that push you need to face your fears and your demon's. If Bernadette didn't do what she did for me I know I wouldn't be here today . The lakes ,the staff and counselors saved my life . My life is completely different and im the person they knew I could be . I have my family, my kids , an amazing relationship a step son and a great job , on top of in the process of going to school to become a drug and alcohol counselor. I don't have the words to describe what this facility has done for me. I entered the doors hopeless, helpless, and spiritually broken. They greeted me with kindness, nurtured me as I detoxed and showed me unconditional love and support. When I was struggling to love myself they showed me love. They helped me build my self-worth, self-esteem, and gratitude in everything in life. They taught me tolerance for others as well as how to control my anger. The staff was caring and when I had concerns they addressed them immediately. I call The Lakes my second home and everyone there my family. We built such strong bonds as us residents helped each other grow and they prepared us for life outside of the treatment center. The family groups were amazing and informative. I can honestly say they changed my life forever. I didn't get my old life back, they gave me a new one built on a strong foundation. I still go to visit the staff and residents. I'm very proud of the person I'm becoming and couldn't have done it without them. For the first time since I was 11 years old I can say I have 105 days clean and I owe it to The Lakes. read more

Two of my brothers went through the treatment program at The Lakes (not at the same time) and I'm quite certain it saved both of their lives (its been over a year now for both of them sober). One has even been inspired enough to quit smoking cigarettes since leaving the program! They both loved the down to earth nature of the staff and the beautiful location. They got to try a ton of things they had never gotten the opportunity to do before (surfing, paddle boarding, pottery) and their lives were changed by the caring and knowledgable staff in the process. I now have my brothers back, and for my oldest brother, his children have him back as well and that is something I can never repay The Lakes for. The owner is so sweet and my family felt she actually cared getting to know the residents and making sure they were happy and doing well. It is a small and somewhat new business but the staff is great, and again, they really care. I am so thankful this place came into our lives. read more

The Lakes was an enlightening experience for me. I have been to two other residential treatment facilities, but this is where I truly found my identity as a recovering addict. I spent 6 months here, although it is recommended to only be there for 3. The staff is incredibly genuine and helpful, from the art teacher to the cook, and the owner cares highly about her residents' well being. She will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable as well as keeping your best interests in mind. The days are mixed between groups, meditation, therapy, and fun activities such as volleyball, wake surfing (my favorite), tubing, kayaking, and just hanging by the pool. It is here that I learned how to be my healthy, true self while socializing and working with others. The Lakes Treatment Center will always be a miracle place to me. When I thought I couldn't get life back after struggling with an addiction and being very sick from that addiction the Lakes Counselors, specifically Robert, Jeanne, Claire, Craig and the owners Bernadette and Travis reminded me I was somebody and stood by me giving me all the education and tools I needed to beat this battle. 4 months later after leaving the Lakes they still call and check up on me just to see if I need anything. Who else does this? Well the Lakes definitely does because they care at the Lakes Treatment Center. These other negative posts I don't understand because I didn't see none of that. Those individuals posting negative comments must of not been ready to really get clean. I recommend the Lakes to all struggling with Addiction or Depression. read more

Save your money! I had the most unpleasant experience of working there. I talked to the owner about receiving a specific position to line up with my professional aspirations. I was low balled, micromanaged and completely strung along. You pay top dollar for bottom of the barrel service. 98% of the staff at the Lakes is an ex addict and/or has a criminal record. They work there because they have to and the owner completely exploits it. The place is so poorly run and unorganized. The employees with the most face time with the residents aren't qualified. No full time qualified medical staff. They just hired a "nurse" that is in charge of the residents health needs while she works, I come to find out she doesn't even have her associates degree. People have died there!! Find other options! read more

If this were the option to do zero stars this one would be it! This rehab is not a good choice! When I attended this rehab not only did the lady running it offer my mother a Xanax cause I was stressing her out.. but one of her three sons trades methamphetamine for his vehicle In trades for the drugs for weeks at a time in a near by town Sonora CA. They also hire active drug addicts that are the ones taking care of the patients checking in Cocaine, Suboxone, Benzodiazepines, Methamphetamine, weed! You name it you need nothing to apply here either so they hire pretty much anyone! I do not recommend this place to go too, I would look further do more research their are better one's out there for sure! Especially when Sonora is like Stockton CA if not worse when it comes to drugs! read more

My husband went through this program and it has been a true blessing! He was close to dying from his addiction and the health issues it has caused him. They accepted him and have a wonderful Phychologist, Telephychiatrist, Doctor and Nurses on Staff as well as counselors. They will take you to AA, NA, church if you choose to do so. They educate the entire family on the true disease. They provide cooked meals and boating activities. It's truly a one stop shop! I've never seen anything like it. The staff are great, it's a gorgeous place that used to be a 5 star hotel. I will forever be greatful to the owners for creating such a great treatment center at such a pleasant site. My husband has met an amazing group of people who will stay forever friends! They are a Million Stars!! read more
