They know what they're doing and they do a great job. We've been coming here for several years now and they have changed over the years, but always good and positive and innovative changes. It might actually be my favorite Gallery in Houston but traditionalists wouldn't agree.

The lights usually tell us it's closed, but on some rare occasions they are on. I tug at the door and it's locked. This has gone on for a very long time. I finally decided to look them up and give them a ring a ding ding. Tammy, the Founder is very friendly, she apologized for not responding quickly enough as she is hardly on social media. I ended up messaging Esperson Gallery through Facebook, and in today's day where immediate gratification is expected, I was never dissatisfied with her response time. I especially enjoy the sculpture pieces, photography, canvas, i.e. wall art. They also have a small cinema room. I apologize I didn't pay much attention to what they were showing. Come check it out for yourself. I believe most of the art is from local artist I've seen some of it before around town, at least in the same similar styles. I am no expert. The space is great for your benefits and fundraising events or any event quite frankly. They were in the mist of setting up for one, and still allowed to come in to take the pictures. I was even invited to stay, for the evening's event. If you are coming here as part of an event, keep in mind the entrance fee varies with each organization. There is no charge to come on your own and take a look. This should really be on your list of Houston on the Cheap!

However, the opening reception by Betz Gallery for Arte Caliente http://www.artshound.com/event/detail/26753 has exposed me to new local talent, and I am eager for more galleries. This small gallery used to be someones home; there is no furniture now, just walls covered periodically with art in three bedrooms. The "kitchen" area was a source of congestion as those waiting in line for a margarita intersected with those moving inside the house for the art. The neon plastic martini cups contained one mean margarita, by a new brand of Mexican tequila; the name escapes me. El Tiempo provided the munchetizers, which were: a flauta, nachos, and stuffed jalopenos. I can't say that I enjoyed the stuffed 'penos--- that wasn't an ordinary 'peno no siree; it was probably a jabanero, a jalopeno stuffed with habanero pepper based on how it made my tongue feel. Perhaps one of my favorite portions of the evening was seeing a group of three performers sing and dance Aztec music, complete with Aztec clothing. The costumes were amazing. The headdress to one of them looked like peacock feathers. They had peacocks in the Western hemisphere?! The staff was professional and efficient, even after it started to rain; they were drenched, no umbrellas or ponchos for them. You see, about an hour and a half into the opening reception the the clouds decided to drop some water off over the Houston area. A crowded hot gallery doesn't make for the best atmosphere, so I was ready to leave. I had seen this art selection. For a free event, they didn't spare a thing when it came to complimentary perks. And the original artwork, interesting performers, and passionate artists made for a pleasant night at Betz Gallery.

Our kids decided to do the paint your pet event less than a week after our family dog crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a great way to honor and remember him! I messaged the location about our decision and to prepare them for our possible emotions. I received a personal reply back and they assured me that they were ready to help support us and make it a memorable experience. It ended up being just our family for the event and instead of just cancelling, Mrs. Elizabeth gave our kids a private painting session and was so supportive and kept asking to hear stories about our fur kid! We had a wonderful time and the kids have already hung the portraits up in their rooms! Thanks again Mrs. Elizabeth for your kindness and patience with us. You have made a repeat customer out of us and will be seeing you again soon!!

When we arrived it was a bit hidden, honestly difficult to find the entrance door. Once we entered we didn't see anyone and hear anything so we kept on walking and found the restrooms then the area where they have class. We were greeted and picked a seat near the front. We were painting two separate painting that came together In the end. The class started a bit late but the instructor wasn't that great. She did walk us through what we needed to do- previous classes ive had the instructors would fix your painting if they needed to. The teacher sometimes did not tell us the next step for ex- she was painting in the front but didn't tell us what to do exactly. Overall- we got a cute painting out of it but I think instructors make the class better.
