I didn't know the food truck scene was so robust here in Nashville and since this was the first one I've been able to go to Saturday night. Unfortunately, I can't say that it was something I'd want again. I had the Cuban sandwich which wouldn't be that hard to make and I love a good Cuban style sandwich. Granted, it wasn't a straight Cuban but a mash up of Cuban and barbecue but it wasn't what I wanted. The bbq sauce was sweet and it was good but it wasn't what I had in mind when I ordered a Cuban-I wanted something super savory with a crunchy, eggy bread but the wagon here had a pretty plain bread that was lightly toasted. I think some of the other menu items are better executed so I'll be sure to check those out if I ever see the wagon again, but for now, an 'Eh' Cuban. read more

I visited the Latin Wagon at the Wanderland FEASTival this past Saturday and got to the front of the line to learn that they were out of basically everything except the chicken taco, the pork taco and the sweet potato fries. Not a problem, I'll have one of each, please! It was a cold day, so while waiting for friends to grab their food, my food had cooled down, so I can't say with authority how their tacos taste when hot. My own fault. At $3 a pop they borderline on being a little pricey for individual tacos, but they taste pretty good. The barbeque sauce on the pork taco was sweet. The cabbage on the chicken-lime taco was a little mayonnaisey for my liking. Even though they were cold, the sweet potato fries were pretty crispy and I'd imagine they'd be delicious piping hot. I have eaten at just about every food truck there is to be had in Nashville and I finally got a taste of The Latin Wagon today for lunch. I had the Cuban sandwich and fries. The portions were out of control. Definitely enough food for 2 people but it was delicious and I stuffed myself. If I had any criticism it would only be that the sandwich was not very hot. But the food was delicious. The fries were especially good and had spicy ketchup on them. Unlike other trucks who are predominantly cash only they take credit and debit cards, which is also a plus. Ive had them twice now. Cant exactly recall what I ordered the first time as it was several months ago when they were parked outside Yazoo. This last visit was in Donelson. They opened nearly an hour late. I ordered the "latin" pork burrito. Pretty sure it was $6. First thing, the size. Ladies are right, size does matter. This burrito was a jip for $6. It was the size of a Burrito Supreme from Taco Bell, not comparing anything but size here. Second is this Pork they call "Latin". What is Latin about BBQ sauce? It reminded me of pulled pork, pretty much is pulled pork. Maybe its "Pig Latin" Pork. I think you should just call it pulled pork. And 3rd. It took 10 mins for my burrito. The food was ok. But too small and not very "ethnic". And the price, that is the dagger here folks. Sorry but 2 stars is it. read more

I can't recommend this place at all. It was parked outside Yazoo, so I decided to give it a try. They were out of the first two menu items I ordered. Finally, I scored with an order of tequila lime chicken tacos... so I thought. There was no lime to be found. In fact, all I was served was some grilled chicken on a flour tortilla with cabbage and...barbeque sauce? Yes, bottled barbeque sauce was their idea of a substitute for tequila lime seasoning. After leaving the Preds game after a bitter loss to the Blue Jackets in the season opener, I needed comfort. So imagine my excitement when I was on my way home and spotted The Latin Wagon parked at Five Points. Even though I had read mixed reviews about this truck, I decided that I would give it a try and judge for myself. I should have heeded the warnings about the customer service and overall low quality of the food. Yelpers don't lie and most of you hit the nail on the head when it comes to this place! I stepped up to the truck after checking out the menu and placed my order for a Cuban and an order of sweet potato fries. Even though there was only one guy in front of me with a small order and not a soul behind me, the man working the truck acted frustrated that I wanted to place an order. I could understand a little frustration if he was super busy and overwhelmed, but come on dude, it's a sandwich and fries AND you have one other order. Definitely didn't get the warm and fuzzies or at minimum, that he was happy to have customers. The sweet potato fries were actually good. They were crispy, fresh, and crinkle cut....my favorite. That being said, you don't get points for dropping some frozen fries in a deep fryer. I should have been suspicious when my order came out so fast. Normally a good thing, but once I got home to drown my sorrows, I soon found out why. He didn't even assemble and press my sandwich! Did I miss something on the signage? Was this the IKEA of food trucks and I had to assemble my own sandwich when I got home? I'm confused. The sandwich was a wreck, with only half of the ingredients listed on the menu in my box and scattered to and fro. I had a tiny portion of pork, a couple of pickles thrown in, and a Lunchables sized square of cheese. WTF? I just paid you twelve dollars to assemble my own crappy miniature sandwich? The flavors were bland, the few ingredients that made it in the box were cold, and the presentation was very unappetizing. In the world of food trucks, The Latin Wagon hails from somewhere outside the realm of the rest of the food trucks that I have frequented thus far in the Nashville area. It's like The Latin Wagon exists in some alternate universe from the rest of them. Alright, the food is supposed to be Cuban and Latin mix of flare - I imagine the Latin Wagon believes that they are something similar to what food trucks are in Miami (if there are food trucks in Miami... cause I don't know). The problem is that the tacos are somewhat soggy and the recipe combinations that they are serving are not very Cuban but like very "Taco Bell". Speaking of Fourth Meal, I wouldn't even consider The Latin Wagon to be terribly superior to Taco Bell. At least at TB, you can get stuff for 99 cents... (I wonder if I just somehow channeled something deep inside to realize that an initial for Taco Bell is TB... which is likely a disease you could get from Taco Bell... I have totally gotten off track). So, there are three things I dislike about The Latin Wagon. First, I dislike the food which is bad because it is a food truck. It was a lovely, cool Friday afternoon after work. What's a girl to do, but hit up Yazoo? Luckily, I got to experience a new food truck while I was there! If it wasn't fate, I don't know what it was. A Cuban friend of mine just so happened to be in town. So, naturally, we had to jump on some tasty Latin cuisine. What we split (for $14 total) Sweet potato fries Brisket burrito Latin grilled cheese (or something like that) All of it was delicious. The cheese was melty and had some avocado and other southern flavors, the brisket was juicy and had a great marinade in it, and the sweet potato fries were sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. No complaints with the food or the flavors. Super tasty, and super inexpensive! My only non-positive thought on the matter is that I didn't really feel like it was "Latin" at all. Maybe Mexican fare? Maybe American fare? I don't know. If you're looking for platanos, and ropa vieja, and a real Cuban sammie, I think you're barking up the wrong truck. However, regardless of genre, the food was spectacular! I'd go back just for the fries alone! And for another bite (or 10) of that delicious brisket! read more

When there's a food truck parked outside of Yazoo Brewery, there's about a 100% chance that I'm going to want to buy some delicious food from them. A few weeks ago the Latin Wagon was the truck parked out there, and I did what I always do, bought some food. My girlfriend and I shared the sweet potato fries, the beef brisket burrito and the Latin Cheese Sandwich. Everything was exceptionally delicious. And the best part was that I only cost $14. What a deal! The brisket was cooked perfectly. It was super tender and tasty. And anything that has hot gooey cheese in it, is good with me. And I loved how the fries were super crunchy on the outside. Why its called the Latin Wagon is a mystery to me. It was a combo of american, cuban and mexican. Maybe they should consider changing the name to Crossing Borders. Just a thought. Had the Latin Wagon for the first time today. I had very high hopes. What is not to love about one of the best sandwiches of all time, the cuban, and the promise of hand cut sweet potato fries? I confess, I am no culinary expert, but I like to think I know what a cuban sandwich is supposed to be. I've been to the most Cuban city you will find in the states, Miami, and I've had cuban sandwiches at more than one cafe there. Ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, mustard, and cuban bread. That is a cuban. What I got from the Latin Wagon was definitely not this. Roasted pork, yes. Ham? I don't remember but I think no. The bread wasn't pressed very well and did not have that crunchy crispness in every cuban I've ever consumed. The worst part is I think it had BBQ saurce/ketchup? There was something creamy and red all up in my sandwich. Red sauce, on a cuban. Really? On to the fries - they were out of sweet potato fries so I opted for the regular fries. These are hand cut fries? I didn't see anything special about them and if you had told me they rolled off the sysco truck I wouldn't have argued with you. On a positive note, the portion size was pretty ridiculous. If you want to split a meal with someone for $10 you could certainly do that. My order of fries and a cuban was so big it came in two to-go containers. I have no intentions of giving them a second chance. My single experience at Latin Wagon was very meh. On a cold winter's night after a particularly disappointing Predators game, I stopped in to check this place out for the first time. The order was easy - I just wanted to try their Cuban sandwich. The description looked great, but when I got home and opened my little Styrofoam box, my first reaction was, "WTF!" It's arguable that this could be classified a sandwich, much less a Cuban. There was pork, I'll give them that, but no ham and only a speckle of cheese. This scattering of ingredients was mixed within some bread that looked like it had been processed through a shredder and then toasted. For a pricy $8, I expected some semblance of a sandwich, but perhaps that was too much to ask for? read more

We were at Elmington Park today for the food trucks. This food truck had tacos, burritos, sandwiches, and fries. I ordered the latin bbq pork taco and my husband ordered the chicken burrito. Both were good. The tacos were $3 and the burritos were $5 making them very reasonable especially if you are on a mission to try several food trucks in the same day. read more

I am a food truck lover, without a doubt. Such a fun way to eat food, and I love to experience them at festivals and parks. The Latin Wagon was a happy accident of a try when a friend of mine happened to see some food trucks gathered while we were driving as asked to stop. While I got something else from another truck, she got something that would later become an actual craving for me: a chili-braised beef brisket burrito with crinkle-cut sweet potato fries. Would I like to try that? Of course! Oh wait its amazing and I want to steal all your fries now? Guess I know what I'm getting for dinner next time. And I have gotten this combination many times. I'm giving The Latin Wagon two stars because I really did enjoy my chicken taco. The slaw on it was great! My niece and I were at Elmington Park for an Australian rules football game last week, and there was only The Latin Wagon and a coffee truck to choose from. I mistakenly thought the coffee truck had only coffee, so Latin Wagon it was! We approached the truck - not another customer in sight - and stood there for about 3 minutes waiting for the guy inside to stop talking to the other guy in the truck and take my order. Seriously, I just stood there, with him about 5 feet away from me, and he was just looking at the other guy, talking like a woman at a bachelorette party. Blah blah blah blah blah. If there had been another choice I would have just walked away. I wish I had, but I hadn't eaten lunch and I was really hungry. I later saw, when my niece got an iced coffee, that the coffee truck had bean and cheese empanadas. I wish I'd known and I would have given these friendly folks my business instead. So the guy finally took my order and I paid something like $9 for a taco and fries, and my niece approached the window with her cash in her hand and the guy just walked away to make my order. These people REALLY need to learn customer service. People always complain about the economy being so bad, but a bug in my ear is telling me that a lot of people are failling because they effing suck at customer service. My taco was great - not worth $4, but as a weekend treat that was fine. However, next time I won't give my business to someone who obviously doesn't want it - even if I have to hop in my car and drive down the street to a brick-and-mortar establishment. read more
