This place doesn't disappoint. Same food as the one near the K&S Market, but more consistent.

It's right down the street from the new Red Bicycle location and other new up and coming spots in the wedge wood Houston area. I found it charming! Granted...this was my first Taco truck experience. But I liked it! I wasn't sure at first but when I walked up to it, everything was clean and they are super friendly. I treated myself to a walk around the cabin and found a lovely outdoor dining area with all of the authentic smells and patio lights. It's the perfect date location if you aren't sure you are ready to make your relationship public. What surprised me was how good the food tasted! I wasn't sure what I was expecting but the flavor of these tacos was mouth watering and deliciously spicy. I'm very satisfied with my experience. From the open grill smoking in front of the patio when you arrive, to the nice personal touch of having the family owned dog accessible to visitors. It was very laid back and quite the local hang. I could see eating here for lunch all of the time if I lived closer so I guess it's probably a good thing that it's out of the way for me. But I'm not supposed to tell you that because I don't want it to be crowded when I go..... dang it!

It's located in a very easily accessible lot off of Nolensville. As soon as I parked my car, one of the workers walked over to me to take my order and sweetly encouraged me to stay in my car as it was hot outside. She was wonderful and service was super prompt! My coworkers and I ordered multiple tacos with a variety of meats - carnitas, chorizo, asada, pastor, and also a quesadilla de chorizo (I'm not brave enough for el buche/pork stomach yet - sorry). ALL GOOD. Carries all the traits of an authentic Mexican taco. Also, I'm one of those people who can realistically eat about 8 tacos (but really shouldn't), and I felt pretty full after ordering 3 here for a quick lunch - if that helps anyone decide how many to order! The workers were extremely accommodating to my special requests, e.g. extra spicy salsa in those tiny containers, extra limes for the quesadilla, etc. I am definitely coming back here and hope to see many more people enjoy it as well!

So, can you guess what mine was?! Duh. Hot dogs! Now, over the years, I've tried all brands and kinds. This place offers some delicious ones, including brats and polish sausages alongside regular dogs. Sometimes, I like them plain. Sometimes, I like chili and cheese on them. Whatever and however you like yours, they will accommodate! Pop & Dogs is a husband and wife team just out doing what they love and enjoying it! So, checkout their FB page to see where they might be. Or, just message them to find out. They have been at their Weatherly Drive spot a couple times when I went to the VA and at their spot on Wilma Rudolph Blvd the first time I saw them. That was an incidental finding as I was looking for another place to eat at the time. But, SO glad I saw them. Read their story. It's great and I love supporting small, local businesses. You can choose your chips and drink with the combo. Otherwise, dogs are $3 and specialty ones are $4. Not a bad deal. Combos are $6 for 1 dog and $8 for 2 dogs. Pretty great deal! So, if I love them so much, why did I take off a star?! Well, because I can't sit and eat at their location. I have to take it and go. I know they're small, but maybe a portable, even plastic, garden table & chair set can be thrown in the back of their pickup truck. Sorry, I'm just not one to stand and eat. I gotta sit down to enjoy my food & drink. It'll just end up on the ground if I tried to juggle a combo trying to eat it standing up! They take cash or cards. Okay, maybe I am being picky. I'll give them the extra star just for being so friendly and having quick service. I mean, Paul did come up to my window once to take my order and to hand everything to me so I didn't have to get out of the car myself. Lol There! It's back. 5 stars!

God knows we need some better food options over there! Plus they had a big sign that said their health score was 100 so don't be skerred. So they have things like chicken and dumplings, meatballs, meatloaf, chicken dishes, etc. Then they have sides like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, mac and cheese, cole slaw, etc. And desserts like cobblers and banana pudding. Not too shabby. I tried the meatballs that were advertised as sweet and spicy with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatballs were in no way, shape, or form spicy but they were tasty. They taste like those meatballs you make in the crock pot with grape jelly and chili sauce (seriously, google it if you've never had them!). Since I have made those meatballs for almost every party I ever had at my house I was pleased. Special treat out of nowhere! Mashed potatoes were ok. Green beans were good. Overall very nice lunch and I didn't have to go far to get it! Give them a try if you see them around.

I got mashes potatoes, creamy corn, green beans and cinnamon apple sauce. The applesauce was so delicious, however the rest was luke warm and lacking. The portions were very tiny too... not what I thought I'd be getting since the plate was considered a meal and since it was expensive. The meal also came with fried cornbread, but it was literally dripping with so much grease I couldn't eat it. Being a girl raised on some of the best Southern food there is, I tend to have high expectations for meat and 3's. Great concept, but definitely not my favorite truck. I probably wouldn't try it again.

Daddy's Dogs delivers exactly what you'd hope for from a late-night Nashville hot dog stand. The dogs are big, have a satisfying snap when you bite into them, and look good enough that you'll be tempted to take a picture before eating them. We both went with the New York Dog: mustard and sauerkraut. Simple. Classic. Delicious. And let's be honest, when it's pushing 2:00 AM, your dining options become a lot more limited. The fact that Daddy's Dogs is there serving hot food when much of the city has called it a night earns points all by itself. Now for the plot twist. By the time we got back to our hotel, both of us were dealing with stomachaches. Coincidence? Maybe. Bad luck? Possibly. The hot dogs tasted great going down, so I'm not ready to convict anyone based on one experience. Still, I can't completely ignore it either. So here's where I landed: Good food. Convenient location. Excellent late-night option. Questionable ending to the evening. Three stars. Because while the dogs were good, my stomach and I are still debating the final score.
