    Graduate by Hilton Auburn, AL

Rarely are there hotels that impress as much as The Graduate. This property is last year's addition…read moreto the town of Auburn and is located next to a place steeped in legends: right across from the Skybar. The design of the hotel is something that is hard to compare to anything else. Full auburn theme, colors and details like stitching throughout the rooms. It appears like an extreme concept on the surface, yet, it's executed beautifully. This is not your run of the mill Westin or Hilton, it's a property with a lot of character and building something like this could not have been cheap. It feels bespoke and hits well above its price point. The rooftop bar is a venue on its own, providing incredible views of Auburn and a very reasonably priced wine selection. The food there is mediocre, but it's a great spot for drinks. Downstairs is a coffee shop, Bo Jackson's Beans, which maintains the design aesthetic and completes the lobby in a great way. The team is quick to respond and is very efficient to all guests needs. All around, this is a gorgeous boutique hotel that isn't just unique, but deeply rooted in Auburn culture.

Love the location & room. The valet is hard with only room for about 5 cars at a time. The front…read moredesk staff are young & act disinterested. Fri night & not a game weekend. The woman just gives me the keys & doesn't offer any info...no valet info, no food or other info. Had to ask questions. Sad for this level of hotel. The room is nice. Just know you can hear the Sky Bar across the street late at night. We were tired so it didn't bother us. Early AM it's the delivery trucks. The food is not great upstairs. Nice coffee bar. Added another night & front desk ok on phone. Prices are high but staying by 85 is not recommended in my opinion. Nice to walk downtown. One young woman at the front desk walks away when people come up. Not great & sets a tone for the hotel. Recommend staff training & mgmt be present as mostly young staff running the place. Great potential if more customer focus people.

We ended up staying here the weekend of Rodeo, a soccer tournament, and there was a wedding party…read morestaying in the hotel. All that said, we had a nice, quiet stay. I like that you can use the Hilton app to choose your room, so with all those factors, we chose one of the fourth (top) floor. The room was clean, and it was better updated than a lot of hotels we've visited lately. I did like that the in-room coffee offered was a pod system so we didn't have to make an entire pot. The hotel does offer breakfast for an additional fee ($7.95) if you aren't a certain level of Hilton Rewards member. It wasn't something we needed, so I really didn't pay attention to it, though I did see a nice table of coffee and beverages in the lobby as part of it. There is a Waffle House pretty much within walking distance, so there is something nearby if you prefer. There are also several restaurants nearby, and it's easy to get on/off the interstate nearby.

If I could, I'd choose zero stars for this hotel…read more Walking in, the receptionist was clearly on a personal call in the office. He wanted to be sure whomever he was speaking with, knew that he'd call them back just as soon as he could get rid of me. He was short and acted bothered during our brief encounter. I wouldn't dare hold him any longer. Elevator- nasty and old smelling with disgusting carpet. The room was so dingy and smelled just the way it looked! I wiped the hard surfaces down and my wipes were dirty afterwards. I can only imagine what's in the carpet and drapes. They didn't even bother vacuuming the room as evidenced by the candy and wrappers that remained underneath. The carpet was also stained very badly. I literally booked this hotel because I needed a few hours of sleep when my kids and I got stuck in deadlocked traffic. I paid $150+ for the worst room I've ever stayed in. I didn't sleep a wink because I was so uncomfortable because of the subpar conditions of the room. **See pics of underneath the beds.
