They talked me into a total relining and epoxy of all pipes in the house which cost quite a lot! Yesterday the washer backed up into the kitchen sink again. I called EPS and they came out and quoted me $850 to snake the washer drain line. I explained that they had repaired it before and that I should get a discount at least. It started with Joanna patiently fielding my questions and giving me a good faith estimate on the work I requested: Kitchen faucet replacement, running toilet and water heater temperature. It ended with an extremely efficient Lyle replacing the faucet quicker than I could reconnect to the internet (seriously, that really happened). He also graciously took the time to explain and educate me on why the toilet is fine with just a few minor adjustments and how my electric bill could be unintentionally impacted with raising the temperature on the water heater. Lyle could have simply replaced the valve and flapper in my toilet and easily adjusted the thermostat in my water heater as I requested, but he didn't. He chose to save me money instead of pocketing additional profit for his company. In this day and age, that rarely happens. The plumber was supposed to arrive between 8:30-10:00 AM on Monday, but showed up at 7:45 AM, earlier than expected. He also arrived in an unmarked passenger car, which felt a bit unprofessional. During the visit, he did unclog the toilet, and he recommended replacing the valve. Unfortunately, he completely forgot about the leaking sink--even though that was part of the original request. He left without ever looking at it. When I called to ask about the sink, he admitted he forgot, but said he might be able to come back at another time and then quoted me an additional $120 fee, even though I was originally quoted a flat $180 for both issues. That didn't make sense to me, and I said it seemed like a breakdown in communication. After that, I received a long text trying to explain the charges, followed by a request to call him. At that point, I declined. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and confusing, and the pricing changed in a way that didn't feel fair. I appreciate small businesses, but consistency, clarity, and professionalism matter--especially when dealing with home repairs.
