First time renting a storage unit, since everyone in Hawaii could use just a little more space, and it was a very easy process with the helpful staff. Initially got setup by Kanoe when I first started renting and immediately moved my extra stuff (car parts) in. The place is gated, lots of close enough parking, flatbeds are provided (but shared), and the main building units are air conditioned. Fast forward a few months and finally got around to selling my parts and no longer needed the unit. Phyllis helped close me out and was both understanding and quick to remedy a small error in their system regarding the move out. Got the service I needed, with the help and pricing I wanted (cheapest when I opened), and the security uncle is fun to talk to as well! Only suggestion I'd have is possibly having a second set of portable stairs in the 1st floor units for Stacked (smaller units on top of ground units) storage. A minor inconvenience if someone else is using it cause you'll need to wait for it. read more

On September 4th, my co-worker and I visited Hawaii Self Storage in Mililani to view their storage facility. As we entered the door, Kanoe welcomed us with a smile and offered her assistance. We let her know the unit size we were seeking, and she offered to give us a walk-through. We thanked her for her time and proceeded to visit two more places. The next day, we returned to Hawaii Self Storage. Kanoe offered to show us an open unit. Right before she got up to show us the unit, something urgent arose, and she asked Phyllis to take over. However, Phyllis was busy. Elicia stepped up and let us view the 5 x 5 storage room. I was impressed at how quickly and smoothly Phyllis greeted us with a smile and offered to help. But the phone rang, and Phyllis was busy with a customer. Elicia volunteered to help out. After viewing the storage room, we returned to the office and explained our situation. Phyllis and Elicia provided a quote and instructions for the required information. We completed our objective after four text messages, three emails, and an MS Teams call over an hour. This team is one of the most adaptable teams I have experienced outside my office. It took six hours to get it all done. Our office is in California. I have never seen the quality of customer service that Kanoe, Phyllis, and Elicia provided that day. Their ability to handle unexpected situations is genuinely commendable. They handed us off to each other and never skipped a beat. Even as we took up most of their day, they handled us with great humor and listened closely to our needs. This facility is the best I was able to find. I found it online with reasonable rates. I was looking for a facility with 24 hour AC for the delicate items to store and they have it. What helps make them attractive is the solar energy they use to cut down their cost and pass the savings to the customers. If you're lucky you might get into an introductory offer. It's about a 33% savings. They don't tell you how long that offer is good for but mine lasted 6 months before the cost got bumped up. One trick I see customers do is to close their account and reopen it under someone else's name, friend or spouse, get the introductory rate and keep the same unit. It's not something I would do but it doesn't look like they can stop you. Because I did my reservation online it made the process easy and quick to rent my unit once I was there in person. Of course, I was offered several options and by law had to inform me of certain cans and don'ts. Very quick and painless. The facility is clean. At other facilities floors can get dirty or trash can be seen. I have not seen anything like that here. I love that I can park my car inside. Means I don't have to deal with the rain and I'm right there immediately accessing their hand trucks and elevators to get to my unit. The security is impressive. You have to enter a pass code to get into the facility. Then, to get into the floor you want to go to you first have to enter your pass code again. Then, enter the floor you want. Your pass code is only good to give you access to the floor your unit is on. So, if you request a different floor.... DENIED. The cameras are motion sensors. Once you enter your floor, the cameras are following you. Everywhere. The one thing that annoys me is when I'm working there for long periods, I have to get back in the hall and move around so the sensors pick me up and turn the lights back on. I bring a lantern that helps me see in my dark unit but when the hall lights go out it's pretty dark. And scary. LoL. When I do have to access my unit, I sometimes try to time it when the food trucks are there parked in the street right out infront. It helps save me time when I have a lot of things to do and not much time to do them. They do have another facility in Kapolei that has a swap meet . If you have a unit with Hawaii Self Storage, like I do, that qualifies you to setup and sell at the swap meet. I don't know if it's free or if you get a bargain price. I think it's an interesting option worth looking into later. I haven't seen other facilities carry this option. Looking for a good, clean facility with AC? It may be a little out of the way for you but they do have good customer service with some great amenities. read more

The heavy duty keypad and CCTV monitored driveway, leads to a fully fenced in and keypad entry building, unauthorized entry results in alarm and alert of staff, top it off with moderately thick steel rollup and swinging doors that will take a hit, cut and keep your stuff secured. Finally lets talk about the attentiveness. Out of all the other HSS locations, Mililani staff actually freggin care about you, your stuff and their facility. The moving company wasn't pleased as it was not beneficial to them and responded with unsuitable words for this review. I've had a storage space here for a while now Trinity the Manager was very nice to work with and even when I had to downsize it was painless. I do like the fact that they are proactive as I forgot to make my payment and they called me so I wouldn't incur a late fee. What is also great is I can get delivery's sent there and they will hold it for me. The place is clean and bathrooms are available as well as carts and packing supplies if you need them. I was concerned that they cut down the 24 hour access but actually access stops late so it really didn't affect me even though I go to my storage at various times to get my products. read more

I've been here for years and just moved out this month. Staff is great, always helpful and warm. Access hours are great, prices are decent. Other customers are nice and friendly. Its close to home. Maintenance on the building is not very good. It leaked on both my floor and my moms floor (1 and 3), that is 1 reason we are moving out. Company doesn't seem to care that it leaks cause its been like this for all 5 years of me and my mom being here. Spoke with office and it seems like their hands are tied. read more

My mother in law had decades of cherishable items she was not ready to part with after my father in law passed away. She downsized her home, moved to the country, and sold us her home in Mililani, my wife's childhood home she grew up in. As part of the sale, we agreed to hold her belongings until she was ready to part with them.
