I compiled several quotes from people we had already worked with, but I found American Irrigation's website online and was impressed by the photos of their previous jobs. What really struck me about Kingsley in our first conversation was his direct communication and friendliness. He owns American Irrigation & Landscaping but takes the time to call potential clients personally and we enjoyed some small talk before scheduling a visit to our property, which he also did in person. On his visit I was impressed with Kingsley's knowledge and experience. It just so happened that our foundation specialist (who also immediately recommended a French drain) was visiting at the same time as Kingsley, and since Kingsley has more than 30 years of experience, they actually had a laugh over discovering a mutual friend. Kingsley is proudly self-educated, but knows more than any other specialist we met with. I won't spoil it publicly, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong with a French drain if you don't think about how deep to put it, or how to orient the pipe perforations or keep from filling it up with sediment, and he's glad to go through all those details with you. You will come away with a very strong sense that there is a right way and a wrong way to install drainage and he will take pains to do the job right come hell or high water. American Irrigation was the only one of our quotes to plan to route our drainage from the side of the house through the back yard directly to the road side drains, despite it being substantially more work. Even though they offered a more quality service (including a 3 yr warranty!), their quote came out in the middle of the pack, and they also very kindly lumped some additional fence repairs in with the cost. When it came time to break ground, the American Irrigation crew was on time and fast, performed exactly the work we discussed beforehand in 3 days, and the payment was exactly what was quoted. I really feel that Kingsley and American Irrigation have saved us from big headaches in the future with our foundation bulging from rain by giving us a drainage solution that will work well, and do so for years to come. -Tim B.
